Geçtiğimiz 10 yılda bireylerdeki ortalama serum D vitamini değerleri azalma göstermiştir. Değişen beslenme alışkanlıkları, çevresel faktörler ve güneş ışığının yetersiz alınması D vitamini eksikliğine yol açabilir. #10yearschallenge #vitamind

Post run egg head selfie 😂 This was my last run before the Manchester half marathon back in October, can't believe I am heading to another country Saturday morning to do another one! I am seriously considering doing a marathon later in the year but its so scary thinking about running 26 miles when I know the pain after just half that distance 😂 anyone on here doing a marathon this year?
Do you supplement? 💊
When I first went vegan I had NO idea how to feed myself. I just cut out all animal products overnight and left the rest of my diet exactly the same. Whoops 🤦 I lost a lot of weight and my skin was super dry. Luckily, thanks to my masters degree in nutrition and own digilent research, I now feel qualified to provide a little vegan nutritional advice.
Whilst a vegan diet can 110% sustain your body, mind and soul, no one can deny that there are a few vital things lacking.
🚫 DISCLAIMER: diets can lack an array of compounds, vegan or not. If your diet consists of nothing but chicken nuggets I can assure you that popping some pills isn't going to help your poor ol' self. I am soley referring to the VITAL compounds we simply cannot obtain from foods.
💊 B12: bacteria that we used to get from eating food off the ground (yup, it's mainly found in poop, my friends).
💊 D3: aka the sunshine vitamin. (Guess why 🌞)
💊 Omega-3, particularly DHA (the exception, as this can be obtained from food. Mainly from fatty fish hence why dem vegan diets just don't provide. Flax seeds and walnuts provide a certain type of omega-3, ALA. Unfortunately, the omega-3 types called EPA & DHA is where it's all at! Scroll back through my posts for a more in depth explanation on this topic. Collab with @davidclearyveganpt
Now, I could chat to y'all about supplements forever and ever but it would massively exceed the scope of an instagram post (and probs get a lil' boring, lets be honest). Let me know if you'd like to know more and I'll think up some creative way to elaborate! Lemme knoooooow 👇

⬆️VITAMIN D LEVELS
⬇️DEPRESSIVE SYMPTOMS ❄️☔️
As the weather takes a turn for the worse in winter and the cosines of indoors beckons, the NHS website warns millions are at risk of deficiency of an essential vitamin; Vitamin D.
Vitamin D helps control calcium and phosphate levels in our bodies and is needed for health bones, teeth & muscles.🦷
Although we get vitamin D from oily fish, red meat & eggs; our main source of vitamin D is from the action of sunlight on our skin.🥩🐟🍳☀️
Our bodies can't make vitamin D if we are sitting indoors by a sunny window because ultraviolet B rays (needed to make vitamin D) can't get through the glass.🏡
Although the new advice from PHE is that adults and children over the age of one should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10mcg of vitamin D, getting outside for a brisk winters walk when the sun does creep out certainly helps. 🚶🏻♂️🚶🏽♀️
As well as contributing to our vitamin D count, getting outdoors can also help with Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD—a mental condition that’s marked by symptoms of anxiety, exhaustion, and sadness. According to mentalfloss.com, GPs are saying that spending time outside can lessen SAD’s severity—even if the weather’s cold or overcast.🙃🙂 .

More on Vitamin D "the sunshine vitamin "
So we have talked about how we struggle to get Vit D naturally in Alberta and the benefits of getting enough Vitamin D. Now let's talk about what deficiency looks like. The below article talks about just a few of the risks.
Beware of D-ficiency
Many factors can affect your ability to get sufficient amounts of vitamin D through the sun alone. These factors include:
*being in an area with high pollution *using sunscreen
*spending more time indoors
*living in a city or town where big buildings and mountains block the sunlight *having darker skin
These factors contribute to vitamin D deficiency in an increasing number of people. That’s why it’s important to get some of your vitamin D from sources besides sunlight.
Some symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency in adults include:
Tiredness, aches and pains, and a general sense of not feeling well
Doctors can diagnose a vitamin D deficiency by performing a simple blood test. If you have a deficiency, your doctor may order X-rays to check the strength of your bones.
If you’re diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency, your doctor will likely recommend you take daily vitamin D supplements. If you have a severe deficiency, they may instead recommend high-dose vitamin D tablets or liquids. You should also make sure to get vitamin D through sunlight and the foods you eat.
Vitamin D Withdrawls 🌻// missing that summer bulk and sun with my girls 🙆🏽🤙🏽
Bring back the ☀️! Don’t get me wrong, we need the rain and with that I am trying to be grateful. But, I struggle to get motivated on rainy days? The thought of having to run indoors on my treadmill another day is daunting! 🙄
Missing my outdoor runs, my vitamin D and my workouts are definitely struggling! Who else just wants to stay in bed and drink hot cocoa all day? #rain #motivation #vitamind #inspiration #fitnessmotivation #fitness #plshlp
Vitamin D levels in athletes - does it matter?
😍 ... not sure if I could go back to freezing temperatures. Growing up where winter was all snow and ice ... not quite sure I could handle that now! 😂😂😂 Even the "cold" days here in Florida are pretty nice. ☀️☀️☀️ What about you ... do you like it cold or hot??💗
