This day will stay with me for some time.
Hiking this volcano was incredible, exhausting, and mind-blowingly awesome.
I was with a group, but no one spoke English so it felt very much like a solo endeavor. We hiked for 8 hours, on the steepest terrain I've ever hiked. All the while Acatenango's twin volcano, Fuego, was erupting every hour, spewing hot ash and dust.
After a full day, we camped under the stars on Acatenango, mesmerized by the incredibly close volcanic eruptions of Fuego. I could feel the vibrations of every eruption in my chest, hear the sizzle of hot ash and rock melting, and in the darkness see red hot lava flowing down the side of Fuego.
I eventually fell asleep, only to be woken up at 4am to start the summit hike. Two hours later we reached the summit of Acatenango (the third highest peak in Central America!), just in time for sunrise.
I snapped this pic on my way down the mountain in a moment of clarity, knowing I would want to remember the feeling of this moment. I don't remember the exhaustion of hiking, or the stinging cold wind from the summit, or the irritability from only a couple hours of sleep. I remember a feeling of true joy, knowing that I can do anything I set my mind to.
The universe truly reveals its' abundance when you allow yourself a moment to be fully present.
Dun tayo sa taong kaya kang buhatin kahit ang bigat bigat na natin. 🍑

I love you from PH to Indian Ocean. 💑
We don't need to do a plan for the rest of our life. We can live day by day and decide what we wanna do in the moment, it's not wrong, it's just a way to live our life.
