"The numbers are staggering: There are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean. Of that mass, 269,000 tons float on the surface, while some four billion plastic microfibers per square kilometer litter the deep sea." -https://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2015/01/150109-oceans-plastic-sea-trash-science-marine-debris/

Im so excited to use my @squooshi #thefillingstation
to make Lily pouches! She loves her pouches and most days it’s the only way i can get veggies in her. Now that we are on our debt free journey i know i can make my own for way less than you find at the store and still have it be organic and full of nutrition! I made a couple pouches yesterday with just greek yogurt and apple sauce and she loved it and it was done in less than a minute! I also feel great about being able to reuse these pouches again and again and saving so much #waste
! Now im off to go purée some fruits and veggies 💃🏻(Not a sponsored post, just really excited to #savemoney
, be making healthy choices for Lily, and contribute less to the landfill 🤗) #squooshi #homemade #pouchesforlife #lessismore #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #ballinonabudget #goinggreen #reducereuserecycle
Was walking down the beach as usual when I stood at the water's edge day dreaming for a minute.
Next thing I know a big wave came rolling in and chucked out a red plastic ball. Decided to stand around for a bit and I found a number of small plastics being washed in.
Maybe it shouldn't surprise me so much when we know there are over 5 trillion pieces of plastic in our oceans today:(
Averda Goes To School kicked off in Pointe Noire on the 22nd of October at the Jean Felix Tchikaya primary school under the patronage of the Mayor of Pointe Noire, Mr. Jean-Francois Kando. There are 5 other primary schools that will be part of the initiative this week, with over 2,800 students expected to attend. The programme includes an engaging presentation tailored to school children about the importance of protecting the environment. In order to keep the children engaged even after the school visit, they will all receive a Glad and Vad comic book, giving them the knowledge they need to take care of their environment.

Yesterday I was given the opportunity to see Paul Hawken speak about his book, Drawdown, and the solutions him and his research team created to reverse global warming. A lot of his suggestions were things I’ve heard of during college, such as increasing renewable energy source, empowering women and girls, and reducing food waste and meat consumption. However, his main point during the lecture was that we need to change the way we discuss climate change; it can no longer be the ominous, impossible to fix task that we should all be afraid of. He suggests we focus on the solutions (which in my opinion is easier said then done in this political climate) and the outcomes we hope to see. I definitely appreciate this sentiment because it is so easy to bogged down with all the depressing news and statistics (12 years IPCC?!?) and not focus on what needs to be done. But that’s what we need to do to protect our earth and our futures 🌏🌳🌊

🇬🇧 English below 🇩🇪 Herbst wie ich dich liebe! Mmmmhhhh
🇬🇧 Autumn as I love you! Today I found a lot of mushrooms on the orchard next to our garden. To be exact, I almost stumbled over them. These splendours are parasols. They are already cut and drying. Yummy
Plastic is hot! Leef jij een beetje #plasticfree
? Dat is helemaal niet zo makkelijk! Een goede eerste stap is plastic scheiden, zodat we het kunnen recyclen. Lees onze tips hoe je dat goed kunt doen in de blog in onze bio en doe mee! 🙌🏻🌍🍭

I just read an article today saying microplastics have now been discovered in human waste 🤭
Microplastics are barely visible teeny tiny pieces of plastic that are they polluting our oceans, seafood, tap water.
The source of these plastics are often beauty products - toothpaste, face cleansers, deodorants, foundations. Things such as Aveeno skin brightening scrub contains tiny little beads of plastic that scratch your skin then is washed down the sink.
It’s so disheartening, the products that are still used even though they are clearly causing damage to our earth- and now humans.
I believe the root of this problem stems from lack of education and convenience, and not being aware of what brands are secretly including micro beads - I recommend everyone to check out www.beatthemicrobead.org to learn what products to avoid.
For clarification- Obama’s microbead only affected products that are to be rinsed off, not those that can be left on the face.
To help avoid micro beads
1. Educate yourself on what brands use microbeads and avoid them- also tell a friend.
avoid using them.
3. Use a #guppyfriend
bag for laundry specific for your synthetic (polyester=plastic) clothes.
4. Choose sustainable packaging
5. Do your best to avoid plastic - choose to recycle what you use.
I would love to learn more and take action against them —> suggestions??

My splosh order has arrived.
My aim to reduce my plastic continues. While yes these are plastic bottles. They are refillable, you order the refill which come in pouches (and are concentrated so you add the water at home) then the pouches get posted back to be reused again.
But you could use any container you like and just buy the refills.
