I have never been happy with my hair despite all those different shampoos or hair products I used so far. My #hair
is super fine and dry, so we can simply call it as the worst type you would like to have.
Not long ago, I stop using shampooing my hair every day. Instead, I used only water and water with vinegar to rinse at the end of the shower. I was not content with plastic waste I produce through shampoo bottles and packaging, so I felt better. 🤗No miracle happened. In fact, nothing has changed either for better or for worse. After a while, I started to use #soapbar
instead of shampoo and it worked well.
What are the pros of soap or shampoo bars made with organic oils and plant butters, pure essential oils, organic herbs, and spices? 🌱100% #compostable
🌱eliminate the need for plastic bottles and packaging 🧳 easy to carry around during travelling as they are solid. 🌱sulphate-free 🌱synthetic perfume-free
There are several controversial ingredients in shampoos. Here, I wanna mention the most notorious one, sulphate. 🔎What is the role of sulphate (sodium laureth sulfate or sodium lauryl sulfate) in #shampoo
? ❓sulphate is simply responsible for bubbling (foaming). The question is ‘Are those bubbles you see on ads really necessary?’ ⁉️Sulphate attracts oil and water so that it helps dirt and dead skin cells to be removed from your skin and scalp. However, it also removes natural oil and moisture from your hair and leave your hair dry and brittle. That’s why you should avoid sulphates if you have dry and fine hair as I do. ❗️Although there is no scientific evidence supporting that #SLS
is carcinogenic, other concerns exist related to SLS as it produces 1,4-dioxane as a by-product, which is classified as “likely to be #carcinogenic
to humans” by the Environmental Protection Agency. Guess what? Since it’s a by-product, it is not required to be on the label.
So at the end of the day you can judge and hopefully decide on the option that would be better for your own #health
as well as #environment
. #reducingplastic #waste
is already a great reason to give it a chance
