OPEX Omaha West Ambassador || Journal Entry
. . .
It seems that most of the activities I’m interested in lately have a safety briefing attached to them. I’ve been told I have balls a handful of times in my life and if I did, I would be sweating them off by now. Heading off on the trail, Bear spray at the ready, camera in hand, trying to keep pace with this crew and it is already kicking my ass with several more miles to go. I had a little anxiety when I agreed last night at the dinner table to help a friend hike in and help pack out an elk knowing my fitness level was most likely not up to par with the crew I was going with. My sea legs were quickly transformed into mountain legs, burning with every step, mind focused on the terrain and literally feeling like I was running to keep up! Mad respect for my crew! This is basically a fire drill for what is about to come over the next few months and gave me a solid visual and goal of where my training needs to take me in order to tell your stories.

I’m stoked to announce my partnership with OPEX Omaha West and to be representing them as an Athlete Ambassador. In my line of work it’s imperative to train and to stay fit to be able to work in the environments that I do, to keep up, to not be a liability and I also see it as a level of respect to the athletes I work with. They train hard for what they do and I show respect both to them and myself by doing the same.

Working with my Coach Mike Brownfield showed me that there is so much more to training then just the physical aspect. I didn’t realize at the time but all the components of our plan in and out of the gym were ultimately shaping me into the strongest version of myself that I could be. Daily meditation, walks with the dogs, time outside, breaks from technology, slowing down, proper nutrition, creating routine, sleep, accountability & surrounding yourself with good people, positive energy all have played a role in my mental, spiritual & physical strength. I’m excited & grateful to be working with my coaches Mike Brownfield & @steve_magistro
as I turn the page & begin the next chapter. #weareopex @opexomaha @jesscjohnson_
