Who’s dyeing eggs today?! There is a long tradition in the Orthodox Church to dye eggs on Holy Thursday, but of course you can later this week as well. 🙏🏼
The egg is a symbol of the sealed tomb of Jesus, and the color is a symbol of the blood of Christ. Later, the eggs are cracked to symbolize the resurrection. Have a blessed rest of Holy Week everyone ❤️ Καλή Ανάσταση

Arroz Verde Rice Bowl; Sweet Plantains, Tomato🍅, Pickled Cabbage, Jalapeno, Poblano Sauce, Citrus Crema, with Pork & a Fried Egg🍳
Hook & Ladder is a bit off the beaten path. Stuck in limbo between I-215 and I-15 west of SLC, you wouldn’t make it a point to head to the area unless you’re there to check out the original Sandlot or visiting family. Hook & Ladder should be a new reason to head there.
Occupying a former fire station, H&L has been around for plenty of years (and it definitely shows). Walk in through those doors and you’ll almost get a sense of restaurant claustrophobia: with only three booths inside and the rest of the space occupied by a kitchen, it may be one of the smallest burger joints around. Don’t be fooled by the space though: they serve a pretty damn rad burger.
Simplicity culminates in this double cheeseburger: two grilled patties with nicely melted American cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and some pretty awesome buns couldn’t be served in a more pleasing manner. One bite and you get a cohesive taste of all the intended flavors, and you almost feel a nostalgia invoked by both the place and the burger itself. While not mind-blowing, this burger is among one of the most classic that I’ve had, and perhaps the epitome of retro. Not to be missed if you’re in the area, and perhaps worth a trek if you’re in pursuit of a blast from the past.
Taco-Bout Awesome! Excited to learn Cafe Rio opened a brand new location at Town Square and their tacos are a delicious handful!😋🍴👅💦🌮🌮🌮🥤

My morning routine is to watch the news while i am getting ready for work, but it’s harder and harder to listen to what’s going on around the world so early in the morning. But I also can’t just sit back and pretend it’s not happening. So I just meditate and send all the positive energy out there. I am one person. It’s all I can do, but imagine if all of us is doing that each morning? It’s good to always look at the bright side of things regardless of what’s happening around us. For now, I’ll look for the positive in this Black Forest cake~ it’s Monday - cake is necessary
Spring is bursting with colors and flavors so I whipped up this basil pesto caprese penne pasta with grilled chicken…family style! 😋🍴👅💦🥗🍝🍅🍃🍗🍷

Since I was just speaking of food trucks, I find it fitting that my next great find came from Falafel Tree - one of the newest additions to Utah’s FT scene.
Founded by two immigrants from Alexandria, Egypt, Falafel Tree has been serving falafel, shawarma, and moussaka for the past two years. I tried them for the first time today, and consider them a revelation for Utah’s mobile eatery culture. No other food truck (to my knowledge) specializes in Mediterranean cuisine and executes it as well as Falafel Tree. These fried chickpea balls were extraordinary - light, yet dense with flavor, crispy, yet like biting into a crunchy pillow, they have falafel down to a science. Having them wrapped in pita with veggies created a superb combination of flavor, with a great crunch and balance of texture and flavor. But the sauce that they put on there? I can’t remember its name, but it was fantastic. Smooth with a slight punch of herb, it created a wonderful accompaniment to the falafel, and should not be omitted.
The fries served beside it were the very definition of dank. Fried perfectly and topped with garlic & cilantro sauce, they could satisfy anyone looking for something pungent and crisp, and are my favorite iteration of fried potato at the moment.
Speaking with the owner, Chef Abby, I caught a glimpse into the passion and craft behind the art of falafel - ingredients from trustworthy sources, dedication to a family recipe, and a heartfelt love for food were all manifested in my experience eating at the truck and speaking with him. Definitely track them down when you’re in the mood for those wonderful fried chickpea balls - you won’t regret it.
Special - you grab skewers of all sort of meats and vegetables from a large fridge in the restaurant, and cook them at your table in a huge pot of spicy broth. 🌶 🥵 🌶 Craziest thing we ate here: rabbit kidneys 🐰
When it comes to Chicken Katsu, dis Haole knows where to go braddah. Cooked to perfection, with dat brown gravy over da top, along with dat creamy mac salad and rice. Ho, deez grinds are to da max! 😋🍴👅💦🌴🍗🍚🤙🏼

You don’t often hear of good burgers from food trucks around these parts - last I heard of a good one was when Better Burger roamed these streets, and they fell off the radar long ago. BUT FEAR NOT - the valley has a new burgermobile: Haute Burgers.
I found myself seeking out the truck last week after having no homework to do but Spanish. Making the drive to Holladay, I was filled with anticipation, and accompanied by the beat of a rumbling belly, eager to chow down. Haute will not let your hunger down. Take a look at their menu and choose wisely: all of their options have a way-too-juicy-for-a-food-truck patty as their base, so you can’t go wrong with anything. I opted for the classic All-American, and was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. Cheese was melted perfectly, bun was superb, veggies were crisp, and the truck’s signature Haute Sauce acted as a great compliment to both beef and veggies. If you find yourself looking for a new food truck to get some grub, Haute should be at the top of the list. Their Chef was trained at Le Cordon Bleu, too! Truly deserving of the Haute name.
I'm feeling the Islands call my name, so let's enjoy this Loco Moco Poutine with brown gravy, a fried egg, Furikake seasonings and scallions. 😋🍴👅💦🧀🍟🍳🍔
