UPDATE ON MY BODY COMPOSITION 💪🏼 My weight since hitting the 3000 calorie mark has increased and remained quite stable. I am still sitting at the 14-15% body fat range, with my muscle mass increasing. Whilst I am noticing my core definition is decreasing, I am seeing other growth. My arms, shoulders and back are becoming more defined, and my glutes are lifting and rounding out. I’m lifting heavier too. Whilst it is glorified that I can eat a large volume of food (and I love it), it’s important to remember that this changes my journey drastically. It’s tough, mentally (especially after a day of eating seeing my stomach bloat). But I’m learning to appreciate every moment and taking this journey as it comes. Low hanging fruit I use this phrase a lot. There's usually something simple that gives good return on your investment of time or money to your health. Often it's something you do so little of that even a small commitment produces disproportionate results. Many people in the strength training world would describe their participation in stretching as little-to-none. Cardio? Sometimes I have to run for the bus... Even though you might train with weights 5 times a week, which makes 20 minutes of cardio or stretching awake seem completely ridiculous, if you barely do anything in these domains then even a small stimulus will have a significant effect. So, with that in mind, if you suck at any of the below then make a small commitment and reap the rewards. - 8 hours of sleep per night, with regular sleep and wake times - 10-15g of fibre per 1000 kcal consumed - at least 1.6g of protein per kg of bodyweight (0.73g per lb) - planned exercise at least 3 days a week (bonus points for doing some cardio and some resistance training) - regular physical activity throughout the day, with around 10k steps per day - at least 5 serves of fruit and vegetables a day Boring, basic, obvious... Effective. Bonus tip: eat an appropriate amount of energy. So many health conditions can be alleviated by losing weight without necessarily changing the type of foods you eat, adding medication, trying to stick to an intense exercise regime or prayer. #science #fit #healthy #muscle #gym #weightloss

This is a very achievable rate of weight loss that I’ve found not only gets great results but also allows for a balanced approach. - Your body might fight you at certain times, this is why the photos are so important and keeping track of your daily weigh ins for you to look back at. You could drop 2% of your body weight on week 1 and then week 2 not see much change but as an average you’re still down by 1% each week. This is perfect and a prime example of what I see on a regular basis. Stay consistent and trust the process. - How to calculate your average Bodyweight? You add up all of your daily weights and then divide by the number of weight ins (7) in this case. Great post by @sarahduff_mn 🔽 . Please PLEASE don’t waste your money on expensive juices, programmes, products or gimmicks in a bid to lose some rapid weight this summer. . Some of these things ‘work’ but I’m going to tell you the reasons they work and what else you can do as an alternative so that a) you don’t break the bank, b) you’re actually a bit healthier, c) you realise weight loss does NOT necessarily equal fat loss! . The reason you lose weight is because these things are likely to put you in a CALORIE DEFICIT. Replacing a 500kcal meal with a 150kcal shake/juice means you are eating fewer kcals. It’s as simple as that. Absolutely nothing to do with detoxing, cleansing or magically boosting your metabolism. . On top of #fatloss (caused by the aforementioned deficit), you are also likely to deplete stored glycogen and lose water. Which will mean you weigh less. Note: Just because you weigh less, this doesn’t mean you’ve lost fat. . Some of these products even have a laxative effect so you weigh even less. ACUTELY. Until you start eating and drinking again and put the weight (NOT FAT) back on. Next time you have a bout of D&V, feel free to weigh yourself before and after... you’ll probably have similar results to a Clean 9 protocol! . So, what could you do instead? . Meal replacements can be super useful as a non-tracking method to reduce overall kcals e.g. rather than having to think about what to prepare for your next meal, you know you simply have a shake. . But I’m urging you to buy yourself some #whey protein and use that as a #mealreplacement ! I used to eat so many burgers after a night out - STOP THIS - HAVE BROWN TOAST OR NOTHING!!!! ⁣ ⁣ 2) SWAP FOR SHOTS - I love my Pinot Grigio and VKS however if we want to be slimming swap it for shots, Diet Coke and vodka is always a safe (boring I know) bet... or just do them straight???⁣ ⁣ 3) Have ONE LESS drink than you would usually... do you really need it?? ⁣ ⁣ 4) CUT OUT CASUAL DRINKING - do it sober! Do you really need to be having a glass of wine with your dinner? Or when you go for a meal with friends? Just think about what matters more to you...
