I started my journey in Feb 2014 at 28 years old, 5'3 and a hefty 126.6kgs (280lbs)!! I was a happy confident girl, but I knew I needed to start taking better care of my body so I set out to get healthy and fit, as I made small changes to my every day life such as getting active and eating better as well as eating smaller portions I realised the weight was starting to come off, and it was then I realised I could do this - I could get slim!!I had always been big, a lot of my family had been big and I just always assumed that's the way I was and that's the way I was going to be. But no, just because people in your family are large or you have been larger for years - this does not mean YOU have to be like that too - we are not 'big boned' or being over weight is not 'hereditary'. We all have the ability to take care of ourselves, be active and eat healthy. It's not rocket science, it's a mentality change! The mind and body is a powerful thing and if you really want something, then go for it and keep on going, don't give up and don't make excuses. I decided to lose half my body weight and I am 17.7lbs away from that goal. I decided to do this to proper way, not rush it, eat well, get good nutrition, with no surgery, no diets and no trainers or coaches. I have done a mix of cardio and weight training in my routines and to be fair have probably actually gained 22-30lbs of muscle along the way. So yes weight loss can be a slow process, there are no quick fixes, but slow progress is better than no progress. Taking 1-2 years of my life to dedicate my time to this is the least I can do to live a healthier, happier longer life. I remember when I first got this shirt and I thought "psh a 2x will be HUGE on me". I was in such fucking denial lol. I put it on and a bitch barely had room to breathe and don't even get me started on those shorts. They were a size 18 and I had to do the hair tie trick because they wouldn't button ๐Ÿ˜‚ It's so crazy to look back and see myself. I literally hated myself but now I look at that girl and think that she's gorgeous and that she deserved the world. I wish I had more confidence and love for myself at that time but now I'm making up for lost time . I will always strive and work on being a better me because you only get one body might as well treat it right

Stay in a slight surplus, eat enough protein, aim for progression, and do more work gradually over time. When the goal shifts into fat loss, only a handful of things will change. _ Calorie Deficit: if we want to lose fat, we must be in a negative energy balance, meaning weโ€™ll have to consume less calories than weโ€™re burning. _ Protein Intake: The science is pretty clear that we donโ€™t need as much protein as we once thought (0.8-1g/ lb will suffice)โ€ฆbut hereโ€™s the kicker: a study conducted by AUT University concluded that energy-restricted athletes will need a bit more. The consensus is that somewhere around 1-1.4g per pound of fat free mass is necessary to maintain muscle tissue when dieting. _ Lift Heavy: Decreasing intensity while in a caloric deficit is the fastest way to end up skinny and weak. The reason for this is simple: if we train with light weight for an extended period of time, we lose the strength and size adaptations we worked so hard for. We can (and should) reduce volume, but never intensity. The best way to maintain strength is to train as heavy as you did to develop it. The better we do at maintaining strength, the more muscle we can retain. _ Low Volume: Fact is, we only require a fraction of the training it took to build a muscle, to maintain it, and anything else is just unnecessary stress placed on the body that could impair recovery, further. Bottom Line: Training volume can and should be decreased when dieting. If youโ€™re currently doing 5 sets of squats, cut that down to 3 sets when dieting and so forth. Losing weight has changed my life! I have wanted to go to the Snowdon summit for years and it was impossible as I couldnโ€™t have coped with the increased pressure being so high above ground. We have to enjoy ourselves and have a good time without having to stress out and make up for it the following week! โ € ๐Ÿ’šThe key here is to plan ahead and make simple and smart decisions! โ € If your goal is fat loss, and you know youโ€™re going out tonight to drink/eat๐Ÿคค, make sure you control and reduce how much you eat during the day!๐Ÿ‘ โ € This helps you stay within your calorie goal and you get to enjoy a nice dinner with friends!๐Ÿ˜Š โ € Another good tip is to look up the menu before you go out and plan what youโ€™re going to eat!๐Ÿ‘Š โ € It makes it so much easier to stay disciplined when youโ€™re out!๐Ÿค™๐Ÿผ โ € If you fall off track or eat more than expected itโ€™s ok!โœŒ๏ธ โ € Forgive and forget. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ The best thing you can do is get back to your normal routine as fast as possible! Last night I snuck this picture of him during a facetime! The only problem is, he's getting too attractive. Being the hot one in this relationship is MY job. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ I'm so proud and in awe of this guy. He's stuck with it and he did it without a trainer or surgery. He just picked a method and went for it. Now ya'll know, I hate keto, but it's working for him so I say do what works for you!! According to Matt, his energy is at an all time high and he's rarely hungry anymore thanks to keto. He also does a combination of run/walking on the treadmill and bodyweight training including squats, push-ups and crunches. He kept it really simple and this is 4 months later! So proud of this dude. Digging that face. Now I need to go get my workout on so I can keep up!! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘Š_ FYI to those who I know are going to ask, we do not know how much he weighs. He doesn't want to use the scale because it discourages him so we are using clothing and pictures. Right now he's swimming in his clothes!! But we estimate he's lost about 70lbs maybe more. Most of the year I eyeball my portion sizes based on what I learned from tracking macros. ใƒป In fact, Itโ€™s actually super important to consider your relationship with food before you start weighing things. ๐Ÿ“My top vegetable choices. - ๐Ÿ‘Let's face it. Veggies and fruits are not always on our priority list..alright alright maybe I shouldn't generalize. They're not on my priority list. At all. I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed fruits & vegetables like I do a good burger. The only reason I like some vegetables is cos they're freebies. All you can eat calorie wise. - ๐Ÿ’Other than that though... yeah.. not ever my cheat meal. - ๐ŸฅฅBut they're still important. Body still needs em no matter what the brain or heart says. So here's my personal list of minimizing quantity and maximizing quality. Quality defined by my own terms. - ๐ŸฅฆBroccoli on the very top of the list, as you would have probably guessed I'm posting something broccoli everyday. It's not that I love them, I don't hate them either though. We're OK, we co-exist mutually. My main reason is they're one that are more nutritional dense, I wanna say they're the most, but I don't have any evidence to back that up. I know they're up there though. They're definitely up there. - ๐Ÿ Potatoes or sweet potatoes. Probably not even 1/10 as nutritious as broccoli, but they win in satiety and THAT is backed by research. I don't know if I'm effected by that study psychologically or I truly feel they fill me up, or a combination of both, but it doesn't matter. I like them, I like carbs, they make me happy. - ๐Ÿ…Tomatoes, mini tomatoes to be exact. They're the closest thing that feels like chips that requires the least amount of effort to prepare. If I were to rank snacks, celery sticks and carrot sticks are up there. Except they require preparation. The time I save by just running mini tomatoes through water is..enough to make me put tomatoes on this list. Calorie friendly too. - ๐ŸŽƒPumpkin. Actually I'm not the hugest fan at all. It's just.. how they make me feel, I feel they deserve a spot here. I remember during my weight loss journey I had 100 calories to eat, I thought why not pumpkins? I ate 1/4 pumpkin about.. the size of 2 fists, put it in myfitnesspal and realized i had to eat another 1/2 of the pumpkin to hit 100 calories. Never felt so sick and full in my life during a cut. Switched my training style, from enduranced high reps to heavy strength training 6-12 reps. Body reacted immediately. Same shit not gonna keep working over n over. Gotta switch it up. Ur body adapts. My best advice.. Before u start, grasp a basic understanding on what u need to eat. It's everything. There was times I was drinking kick start and eating hot cheetos between sets. Absolutely clueless at 18 y/o. I studied a lot of YouTube, still do. U really can't learn without screwing up 1st. I discovered the eat big to get big strategy at 19 y/o. Nobody ever adds in eat more (clean) food. I spent $20 a day on unhealthy foods with the expectations of looking like Arnold. I would eat, step on scale. Eat, step on scale and repeat.
