***THE FIRST REP OF A DUMBBELL PRESS*** # The next step from yesterday’s post # Something which I DON'T see anyone talking about or offering good advice on is the initial rep of a press movement. So many times I see guys do their first rep with technique which could put them out for a few weeks with a shoulder injury. ### The first rep is going to be hardest when going heavy on a press movement. Here I demonstrate an incline chest press. Your aim here is to get your shoulders & upper back pressed hard against the bench. Get your arms into a good position where you can feel a slight stretch of the chest & lift with your chest from the very first rep. You will be weakest at the bottom so you should aim to hold here, stabilise the shoulders & get strong at this point for GAINZ. ### Okay here's what not to do with the first rep 1️⃣❌move the weights up without your body being in a good position to start the set 2️⃣❌press up without first retracting your shoulders back or feeling your chest work from the first rep 3️⃣❌bring the Dumbbells too close to your body so that it's impossible to get them out in a good position to start the set All of this is hard to change, I recommend dropping a few kgs off and practicing getting your body in a good position for that first rep and initiating the movement with the working muscle. Once you get stronger at the bottom of the rep too you can expect some epic gains. Here is what to focus on that first rep 1️⃣✅place Dumbbells at the bottom of your leg, get a firm grip 2️⃣✅chuck them up and pin your shoulder blades back against the bench 3️⃣✅focus on pushing your upper back against the bench with your arms wide enough to feel a slight stretch on the chest 4️⃣✅exhale out as you push up focusing on initiating the movement with the chest (or working muscle) You'll know when you get this right as your joints & shoulder health will be a shit ton better 🤜💪

This is really hard for me so i will just write few things straight out of my heart... The happiness that i feel when i look at this picture gave the strength to share it with you guys even though there is still a long way to get to my goal weight. I just want to show people who already gave up like me before that YOU CAN DO IT! Person on the left its someone who gave up after years of fighting with eating disorders and depression ... All of it made her gain not only a lot of weight but also a lot of health issues and the worst one was hormonal problems. They made weightloss impossible even when she was dieting like crazy and exercise an hours a day ... Her head started to play tricks with her , she started to stay at home all the times and avoided people... Person on the right found a hope and she did not gave up! She found her inner peace and strength to fight with her own demons and insecurities.The most important thing is she cleared her head and changed a lot in her life ( priorities, goals, people , job). She changed her job as she realised that being in such a toxic environment only makes her situation worse.She cut off all toxic people in her life.She fixed her relationships with famili and close friends.She take care of her closest friends and family and loves them purely as she can love herself now!She can stand in front of the mirror and say I LOVE YOU!!She loves life!!She have endless energy! Works at two jobs as well as working on her youtube channel! She thinks positive and thats how she sees the world now.The difference on those pictures is around 25-30 kilograms and a lot of hard work on myself and my head . Because its in my head where i had the biggest transformation!So my last words to you guys is you have to make a peace with yourself and your head before fixing anything else! Some people may not know that almost 2 months I was down and out and thought that being tired, stressed and gaining weight was an undeniable part of getting older. Also my diabetes was all over place before i started as the doctor wanted me to have the weight loss operation to help get my diabetes but since ive lost the weight almost 10kgs since the doctor weighed me last. Fino ai 13 anni sono sempre stata piuttosto magra ed agile, quando poi ho iniziato a fare delle scelte più grandi di me ho iniziato a sprofondare. Ho abbandonato il conservatorio, mi sentivo una nullità davanti al mondo, e così durante il liceo sono arrivata a pesare oltre 100 kg, soprattutto nell’anno della maturità, dove ho avuto moltissime delusioni che mi hanno portato ad un periodo depressivo. Ero rassegnata al fatto che non potessi più riprendere in mano la mia vita, che ero un fallimento e che avevano vinto gli altri su di me che ero sempre stata debole. Mai una parola di conforto nei miei riguardi, mai provato stima o approvazione, sempre e solo ribrezzo. Quella persona che ero diventata non ero io, e dopo aver trascorso un anno pieno di avvenimenti dolorosi, nel 2015 ho deciso per gioco di iniziare questo percorso un po’ grazie a me stessa, un po’ grazie ai miei genitori che da anni andavano a correre. Non sapevo dove stavo portando me stessa, ed è stato un atto di profondo rispetto e coraggio per la prima volta. Non sapevo quanto avrei perso, ma sapevo ciò da cui stavo scappando. Dopo un periodo, ho deciso di dare al mio profilo Instagram un aspetto diverso, cercando di trasmettere agli altri ciò che io stessa avevo fatto fatica a realizzare: e cioè che tu puoi. Non ha importanza il peso, o le difficoltà della vita. Così mi ritrovo ogni giorno a leggere storie nuove e stimolanti, che diventano anche un po’ la mia. Losing weight isn't easy. It comes with ups and downs. I got a small injury over the last week and wasnt able to move around so much. The pain meds also got me cranky. I wanted to eat everything I could touch. As a result my weight has gone up 1kg in the last 10 days. A fitness journey is never going to be a straight downhill track. Tou might lose some and gain some back. But what you have to remember is that you cannot give up. Its okay to get sidetracked, as long as you get back on. It takes baby steps to reach a goal and it takes time. So be patient and love yourself through it all. Hating your body will only breed negativity, which is bad for your self esteem. Remember why you started doing this in the first place. My career took its toll and eventually after a few years I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I had also put on about 15kgs. I signed up with a Personal Trainer to learn how to train properly and have never looked back. Training became a non negotiatable when I realised how beneficial it was for my mental health. Around the same time, I saw a Naturopath to help put me back together and fell in love with how much I learnt about Nutrition and Herbal Medicine. I am now half way through a Bachelor Health Science in Nutrition and Naturopathy. I could talk about Nutrition and Training all day because I love them both equally! However I have a real passion for Mental Health and Womens Health. I especially love encouraging people to try something different, like weightlifting instead of cardio - I love writing programs that people are actually excited to attempt! I also love to help people understand the science of how our body works - most people are shocked when they hear there is only about 6kgs difference between the photos below - it's not all about the scale! I hope to help as many people realise that while it seems simple to eat healthy and exercise, there is nothing wrong with asking for help along the way. Simple doesn't always equal easy. Especially if your anxious and not sure of what to do in the gym or just require that bit of extra support. Need help with setting up your diet and routine for your goals? ➖ The tricep has three heads including the lateral head, the long head, and the medial head. Although you can emphasize different heads with different variations of exercises, all three heads will be involved to some extent in tricep exercises. Additionally, if you’re focusing on plenty of compound movements such as chest presses and shoulder presses, you’ll already be getting a good amount of tricep work. - The lateral head is the most visible head. Tricep pushdowns with a bar primarily hit it. Dips are another exercise for this head. The long head is the back portion of the tricep which is primarily hit with overhead exercises. The medial head is the least visible and sits right below the long head. Tricep pushdowns with a rope, instead of a bar emphasize it a bit more although any tricep pushdown will still hit both heads. - Overall, all three heads have a similar function so you’re probably already hitting each to some extent. Can we take a moment and discuss the #healthateverysize movement? I think it's great that we are learning to accept people. To acknowledge that people can make their own choices and that's ok. That we are beautiful, and worthy no matter how we look. BUT we are heading down a dangerous path. High levels of body fat will eventually take their toll. Eating excess amounts of sugar, fast food, and crap will eventually take its toll. Excess weight will eventually take its toll on your joints. On your heart. On your mental state(as much as we are trying to make this not ok it is still a fact that we are initially judged based on the information immediately available to us which is typically what we see) If you choose to continue to lead a lifestyle that is not ideal for health. That is YOUR choice(it doesn't matter whether there are underlying issues, which there typically are, you are still making the choice whether to get help or not). It doesn't make you a bad person. It doesn't make you less worthy of loving yourself. Of love from others. Of acceptance. Of happiness and joy. However, it's not fair to act like this is not going to have long term effects on what your life and health looks like. Self image and body image are two very different things. They can, and often do, go hand in hand because we place so much worth on how we look. But where we are moving as a community, encouraging people to be 'ok' with being extremely overweight isn't right. The message needs to change. It is ok to say, here is where I am. This is not optimal for my health. So I am going to love myself enough to work on making changes to my lifestyle that support a healthier me. It is also ok to say, here is where I am. This is not optimal for my health. I am going to love myself the way I am and not worry about making changes. That is YOUR choice. It is NOT ok to spread the message that can be healthy long term to be significantly overweight, and leading a lifestyle that lends to that. I am not saying I am over here making perfect healthy choices all the time. But I recognize that I am making a choice and that they are not ideal. (cont)

Some people may not know that almost 2 months I was down and out and thought that being tired, stressed and gaining weight was an undeniable part of getting older. Also my diabetes was all over place before i started as the doctor wanted me to have the weight loss operation to help get my diabetes but since ive lost the weight almost 10kgs since the doctor weighed me last.
