Looking to improve your squat? 🙋🏻‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Here are two tips to start with to improve your squat form:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1️⃣ Make sure you’re hitting parallel depth! ⁣⁣ Sometimes I’ll see lifters going up in weight while not even squatting to parallel depth. Going to proper depth will help you engage your glutes and hammies a lot more, and therefore help you build better length strength. Don’t use the bottom of your legs to gauge your depth- parallel is when your hip crease is either even with or below your knees. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 2️⃣ Don’t let your knees cave in during the eccentric (lengthening- in this case downward) phase of your squat!⁣⁣ This is more common in beginners. Sometimes this is due to insufficient range of motion in the ankles and/or poor gluteal strength/development. If your knees cave in during your squat, remember to push them as you descend. Dr Candace B Pert, the brilliant, ground-breaking neuroscientist, was the first person to prove that our brain chemistry is affected by our emotions. But she went a powerful step further when she proved that it’s a two-way street: not only is our brain chemistry affected by our emotions but our emotions are affected by our brain chemistry. The problem is we rarely learn how to deal with our emotions. They tend to get a bad wrap in our modern world, from our reliance on diagnostic tests and computers for telling us what’s wrong with us to the hyper-dramatic emotionality of reality TV. But emotions serve as an important purpose in guiding us; and now, with this newer brain chemistry understanding, in healing us. Emotional intelligence didn’t come into vouge until the late 1980’s through the work of John Mayer and Peter Salovey. It was then further expanded with Daniel Goleman’s book Emotional Intelligence, published in 1995. Finally we were given tools and a deeper understanding of how our unprocessed emotions affect us.”

When you are having one of those moments where you are extremely stressed out and can’t think properly, first off, breathe. Deep breathing can immediately help calm you down. Secondly, ask yourself these 2 questions: 1. What if this was easy and fun? Woah, what? Just think about it. If you’re stressed out about homework ask yourself how to make it fun or easier. 2. What is the immediate next step? Not the 1000th step, the next one. Majority of the time when you get into one of those freak out moods it’s because you’re stuck in the future and not thinking about the now. So take the time to ask yourself what the next step is. I discovered these questions from listening to @angieleeshow podcast, and it was mind blowing! The goals I want to achieve, the things I want to accomplish, where I envision my professional success, hopefully motherhood, etc. ✨ Forget the fact that you feel like your dreams may be "too big." DREAM BIG! Then PLAN the necessary actions it will take to get there. ✨ Do you want to travel more? Do you want to launch a big project? Do you want to leave your corporate job for your true passion? ✨ Recognize these, write them time and set your intentions for the year! Look at the bigger picture, then simplify it by focusing on quarters. I learned this from a business mentor/inspiration @amandabucci When looking at each quarter, you can create focus and put all your energy into taking action during those 12-14 week sprints. 💡 Workout Tip: Curtsy lunge, also known as curtsy squat, is perfect when you want to achieve those toned inner and outer thighs. It also improves posture by stabilizing the hips. Start from standing, and step your left leg behind you and to the right so your thighs cross. Then, bend both knees as if you were curtsying. Align your knees with your ankle.
