Since the best gifts are actually life lessons disguised as cute little metaphors 🤓…I decided not to wrap this box. Instead, I’m giving it to you as an early present 👇🏽 . . ✨NEWSFLASH✨ you can’t create a little white box with your eating habits & stay in there forever—it’s not fun, it’s lonely & it’s def not real life. . . Take cookies, for example. 🍪Within your little white box, you can create an environment free from cookies. In fact, you can even deny their existence! 🙅🏼‍♀️ . . But…cookies DO exist—& probs will for a v long time (unless…there’s a tragic cookiepocalypse 😢). So what happens when you inevitably venture outside of your box & see the world’s cookie stash? 🤷🏼‍♀️ . . Are ya afraid of them? Controlled by how gosh darn amazing they look?Consumed by your internal dialogue that insists, “you can’t have those because you’ll overindulge, feel guilty, & fall off track?” . . Bottom line…do you feel powerless because those cookies have the upper hand? . . I’ve seen it many times before—the advice…”Just don’t keep those in the house if you overindulge on them! Out of sight, out of mind!” Which is okay…for like 5 minutes. . . …5 minutes until you realize you’re living in a little white box with SO many rules that are taking away your power & sense of self trust. 💔 . . The white box says, “The cookies are the problem, remove them.”….but I say ➡️the problem is that you’ve fallen out of trust with your intuitive self who KNOWS a cookie is just a cookie…& that YOU have power over it. No judgement zone here, mmmk? 😂🍷 ⠀ ⠀ It is Monday evening and I’ve finally recovered from our Saturday night neighborhood dinner party. Wowza, I know. First of all, I don’t recover the way I used to in college. Secondly, our dinner party format was a 5 course dinner with each course at a different home. Each home had a different combination of cocktails...and mixing alcohol is never a good idea. 🤦🏼‍♀️ ⠀ ⠀ So here’s my little natural hangover helper. Thank God for these little bottles of oils...I didn’t need to use any headache or stomach relief OTCs. (I don’t have any in my medicine cabinet anymore. But, if I didn’t have my oils to help, I’d probably have to buy some). ⠀ ⠀ Hangover Oils:⠀ ⠀ 🍋 Lemon: One drop of lemon in a glass of room temperature water...drink and repeat. Alcohol dehydrates the body. So it’s always a good idea to chug extra water after a night of having one too many. Lemon essential oil is high in limonene which is naturally cleansing and helps to aid in detoxing the body from the inside out. Bonus points if you have electrolyte infused water (not the sugary kind...but Smart Water style). ⠀ ⠀ 🌱 Peppermint Touch roller: This is my go-to for head tension. I roll on my temples and forehead near my hairline...and then on the base of my skull. It gives a naturally tingly and cooling sensation and instantly gives me head tension relief. I never leave home without my peppermint!! It’s a staple in my collection.⠀ ⠀ 💧DigestZen: One drop of DigestZen in a shot glass of cold water or almond milk assists with heartburn and feelings of nausea. I also like diluting 1-3 drops of DigestZen in a carrier oil and massaging if around my belly for natural stomach relief. Life saver!! ⠀ ⠀ Tell me about your fav oils for hangovers? 15 minute dinner! Fast, easy, yummy! . - TJs Riced Veggie Mix. - Wild Alaskan Flounder (Costco). - Asparagus (thinner the better). - Olive oil. - Garlic salt. - Avocado mayo. - Pesto. - Cream. - Lemon. . Saute the rice veggie mix in plenty of olive oil. At the same time, place your flounder on a baking sheet and sprinkle with oil, garlic salt and pepper. Broil for 2 minutes a side. You can pan fry or bake asparagus. If it's really thin it should only take a few minutes either way. I sprinkled mine with garlic salt and a squeeze of lemon and baked at 425 for 8 minutes. Mix avocado mayo, pesto, and a little cream for the sauce. Sorry, I didn't measure, just kind of eyeballed it. ✧SITTING WITH DISCOMFORT: Part 1 Why?✧⠀ There’s a lot of talk out there about sitting with our uncomfortable emotions - the sadness, the pain. But why is that a thing and more importantly how do you sit with discomfort, really? (See tomorrow’s post for *how*).⠀ ⋒⠀ First of all, let’s talk about *why*. Most often, when we aren’t connecting with our emotions, it’s because we are avoiding them. And usually we avoid them because there is fear around them - how strong they may seem and that they will engulf us. We think that our sadness or hurt or disappointment or shame or guilt or worry will be too much for us to handle. And let’s face it, avoidance is easy to come by.⠀ ⋒⠀ But here’s the thing: those feelings are more like the shadow of a tiny animal creeping up appearing larger than it is in real life. *The fear around the emotion is often greater than the emotion itself.*⠀ ⋒⠀ We suffer not from the emotion itself, but our suffering is from the fear of the emotion.⠀ ⋒⠀ By sitting with our discomfort, we begin to see it for what it is. We become less afraid of it. By sitting with it, we disarm our defenses, and allow the emotion to come in - witnessing it, accepting it, managing it, and ultimately making peace with it.⠀ ⋒⠀ The more we sit with our discomfort the greater our self-awareness, the more familiar we become with our emotion, allowing for a different experience the next time it arises. By sitting with it we learn that we control our emotions not the other way around. We learn that emotions will come in, will peak, and then will subside.⠀ ⋒⠀ And our emotions will teach us what we need to know, what we need to pay attention to, what we need to honor, accept, forgive, let go, love, remember, and learn. And with this we release ourselves from the suffering. And we invite in peace.

Never miss a monday. 💕 . After going into work an hour early today and having a vet appointment in the evening, I did not want workout. When we got home from the vet my boyfriend asked me why I wasn’t working out. I told him I didn’t want to because I was tired and sore. He challenged me to just put my shoes on and try, that I wouldn’t regret it. It was the reminder a needed to just get it done. He was right, so I did a preview work out for @shaunt new program that is starting in January. It was the perfect amount of inspiration I needed on a Monday. 💕

full disclosure... . . it took me a long time to buy in to oils. i didn’t understand how they could possibly work. i couldn’t figure out how an oil could be more effective than tylenol or tums or pepto bismol... i just didn’t get it. . . one of the reasons i didn’t buy into oils is because they recommended you apply them every 3-4 hours... I thought, “well why would I do that when an excedrin can work for up to 12 hours?” . . here’s what I found out— over the counter medications put a band aid on a very real health issue. it doesn’t take the problem away, but moreso tricks your body into thinking it’s gone. when you choose to use oils, you are making the conscious decision to give your body the tools it needs to be closer to total wellness. oils need to be reapplied because they are working with your body to strengthen and support each and every system. . . each night after I apply theo’s bedtime oils and diffuse his sleepy time blends, I rock him in my arms and think about how thankful I am that I don’t ever need to worry about any of the products I use on him being recalled... containing toxins... harming his little body... . . it’s a blessing for sure.
TIP 3: How to enjoy the holiday treats stress/guilt-free, feel 100% in control & NOT gain weight! . Eat MEALS rather than snacking. . Holiday parties are infested with finger foods. The break room at work is infested with pot luck snacks. It's SO tempting to just constantly walk around and eat the whole time isn't it?! . I love snacks, don't get me wrong, but you're not just eating a snack. You're grazing. Grazing is the GRINCH of the holidays. The goal is to eat until were satisfied and full ( judgement free, of course). The thing with grazing though, is that because you're constantly eating tiny bits at a time, it's making it very difficult for your body to eat until satisfaction and this inhibits your body to fire its hunger signals properly to cue you to stop (a.k.a. why you're constantly eating non stop.) . If you're at a holiday party, try this: -Grab a larger plate (not a snacking plate, if possible) and put a BALANCE of food on your plate (protein source + veggies if possible). When choosing the foods, ask yourself, "what sounds appealing to me right now?". Once you have your plate SIT DOWN, FOCUS and ENJOY your meal (this is IMPORTANT). . If you're at work, try this: - Grab your lunch, a few treats and LEAVE the area where all of the food is. Again, when you're choosing what you want, ask yourself, "what sounds appealing to me? What do I REALLY want?". Then SIT DOWN, FOCUS and ENJOY your meal (I promise you, this is crucial!). . No judgement. Just pure enjoyment. . 🍪 4-Ingredient Breakfast Cookies 🍪 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ingredients: 2 ripe bananas 1 cup oats 50g dark chocolate (70-85%) 1/2 cup almond butter 1 tsp sea salt 1 tsp ground cinnamon ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Method: Preheat oven to 180°C. Add all ingredients, except dark chocolate, to a food processor and process until combined. Add 1 tbsp of mixture to a lined baking tray and flatten into cookie shape. Repeat with remaining mixture. Top with a little piece of dark chocolate and a sprinkle of sea salt. I wanted to share for a second about some info I’ve come across in the past few days. Apparently it’s been a huge craze fairly recently! I don’t hold out good info from you guys 😉 I saw several random posts about celery juice. Straight up, raw juice. Ew. Yep. That was my first reaction. Then I saw a post explaining some benefits. And then I saw more. The nerd in me wanted to learn more. You guys, it kinda blew my mind! Here’s a little of what I learned: drinking 16 oz a day (20 minutes before a meal, on an empty stomach), or at least whatever you can get in. I did less because I can’t handle that much at once. 🌿 -Lowers cholesterol -Protects liver health (cleansing & detoxes) -Protects against UTI’s -Lowers inflammation -Helps prevent & treat blood pressure -May help protect from cancer -Reduces bloating -Boosts digestion (helps correct gut issues) -Contains properties that fight infections -Helps prevent ulcers -Helps heal eczema, psoriasis & acne -Helps fight autoimmune disease -Purifies the blood -Calms nerves The list goes on and on..so I was convinced. And even though it doesn’t taste good, for all those benefits, I’m willing to give it a whirl for a few weeks and see how it goes! Is anyone else doing the celery juicing?

A little #latergram from this weekend, cause I was feeling myself for once. . . I’ve been guilty of being an asshole to myself from time to time. I’ve called myself every name in the book. I’ve gotten so caught up in an end goal and hating myself until I got there, that I forgot to enjoy the journey - hence why I fail every single time. . . Lately I’ve been saying kind things to myself. I’ve been telling myself that I’m working hard (in and out of the gym), I’m building myself up. Celebrating small successes and clapping for myself. Instead of saying I’m fat, I’m gross etc. I’ll say hmm probably just bloated, this will pass. . . This is huge because it’s starting to translate into other areas of my life. Instead of telling myself I can’t do a paper or I can’t handle a situation, I say I CAN. Than it’s so much easier to accomplish. . . Life is hard enough. You have to feed yourself love, positivity and belief. Because at the end of the day, you are the one who has to live in your body, why not love yourself during it?
