“Never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
As we honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, we want to remind you not only of the challenges ahead, but also how far we have come. This past Wednesday, our #CleanEnergyJobs
debut hearing took place in #Salem
. With a room overflowing with opposition and climate activists, it’s still difficult to gauge the final outcome of this effort—a decade in the making.
In early February, we have the opportunity to encourage our state leaders to adopt our Clean Energy Jobs bill. This bill would put a cap on Oregon’s #ClimatePollution
and set prices for each ton of climate pollution emitted by large fossil fuel companies, while also reinvesting proceeds into clean energy solutions such as #wind
, and more.
Join the tradition Oregonians have practiced for generations and stand for the water, air and land we love and share. Dr. King mentioned that we must not look the other way when challenges arise - we must continue weather the storm ahead, hold strong for our #environment
, and reduce the harmful effects of #ClimateChange
