Thanksgiving week is here and we were reflecting on our past Thanksgivings together. We began talking about the traditions that developed when we became a family. Head on over to the blog today to read about our families favorite Thanksgiving tradition and how we will be celebrating from England.
What is your families favorite Thanksgiving tradition? #thanksgivingtraditions #cambridge #cambridgeshire #cambridgepunting
LOUGH TAY 🇮🇪// it was a really, really good day. ☀️ We road tripped through the “Garden of Ireland” aka. Wicklow. It was beyond beautiful. And who gets a sunny day in Ireland in November??? How lucky are we?!
Dadtoss || Who needs a vacation? My tribe needs to scratch our travel itch soon 🌎
We have friends that are now married, but on one of their first dates he FLEW her to dinner. Like, in a real live airplane. Now every time we see a plane Henry says, ‘there goes Sam’s dad.’ Do you have any interest in a pilot’s licence? Or, do you already have it? What a cool skill to pull out like it’s NBD.
DUBLIN 🇮🇪// Merrion Square Park is beautiful and has an awesome play area for the kiddos! ☕️ Grab a pastry and coffee at the adorable Hansel and Gretel Bakery and go for a stroll! This could totally be our Saturday morning routine. Do you have a favorite way to spend Saturday mornings?
A toddler parent’s worst nightmare: not enough snacks. Can you imagine?
When I was a kid and my grandpa asked if my brother and I wanted to go on a bike ride, our first question was ‘is grandma going’ because we knew she would have an apple, a mini chocolate bar and water break half way through. Without grandma it was 50 kms non-stop.
We always have a couple fruit/veg purée pouches, nuts, goldfish crackers etc on us. What’s your go to for portable snacks?
As soon as I saw you, I knew a grand adventure was about to happen ~Winnie the Pooh
My face is every parent ever, pretending to wonder ‘where is (insert child’s name)’ while being able to see them clear as day!
Also, can we just talk about these children’s winter coats/snowsuits, and how they are designed with car seat safety regulations in mind? All my cold weather mums rejoice — no more piling blankets on top of them in the car, in order to be safe...just use @onekidouterwear.
Woot woot! (P.S. they come in vegan, too 🎉.)
DUBLIN 🇮🇪// To the Byrne homeland! For those who don’t know, my maiden name and Skadi’s middle name is Byrne. ☘️ The surname Byrne was first found in Leinster, where we were descended from Bran, the King of Leinster. He was descended from Cathair Mor King of Leinster, who was also Monarch of all Ireland about 200 A.D. (AKA I’m basically a royal 👑). During the Strongbow invasion in 1172, the family was driven from their original lands in county Kildare, settling the wilder territory in south Wicklow, which is super close to Dublin so there are a ton of Byrnes here! 💪
Especially noted for the lengthy and tenacious resistance to the English invaders, our family motto is “I have fought and conquered”. ❤️ It’s so cool to be here, be so welcomed by locals, and meet so many Byrnes!!! Any other Byrnes out there?!
Dadtoss || Don’t ever stop learning new things. We must elevate as parents so the next generation has something to surpass. Keep exploring 🌎
First thing we do when we get to a new destination is drop our bags at the hotel and head out to the local town or beach to check it out. We pick up supplies and see what tours they have on offer so we can plan our next few days. .
What a view we got when we walked onto this beach so stunning we cannot wait to take an island hopping tour around these islands as they are filled with secret beaches, lagoons and caves.
What do you do when you first get to a new destination?
Dadtoss || He takes the term “Dance like no one is watching” to another level. You know how packed a chick-fil-A is so you can imagine the spectators 😯
She is the apple of my eye.
Let’s settle the debate - Apple or pumpkin pie?
Dadtoss || They are perfect just the way they are. Love who and what you have people because you won’t ever be happy till you love yours 🌎
this past October was a huge highlight for our family. My girls love reading Harry Potter novels by @officialjkrowling
and seeing it come to live in the parks and attractions was a spectacular experience. We loved all the magic around us. .
Are you or your kids also fans of Universal Studios and Harry Potter books? .
Check out my stories to see what is new with Mercedes and to see a new video.
Dadtoss || Exploring this Volcano taught me a lot . The most crucial of all the rules tho is don’t fall in. Months prior to us visiting there was an incident where two horseback riders fell in. Explore more🌎
Are you a market person? Of course you are! Who doesn’t love markets?! The largest year-round farmers’ market in Canada sees over a million visitors a year and is about 35 minutes from our house. It can be an absolute zoo with buses of tourists coming, but we go first thing in the morning, nab our fav perogies, have a wander and get out with both the kids we came with before it gets too busy. Times like this I kinda ‘get’ the whole toddler harness thing. 🙈🙈 #stjacobsmarket
Dadtoss || Venturing into the unknown and knowing you will come out better than when you arrived is why we travel. Get out there see where life takes you 🌎
To be fair, Henry told us he didn’t want to go on this hike. At two and a half years old, we figured he’d be fine and enjoy it once we got there. WRONG. He screamed through the entire ‘adventure’ until we got back in the Defender. No amount of snacks, songs, I spy or even #tossthetoddler
could change it 🤦🏼♀️. Ah well. We tried!
Today on the blog, I wrote all about our week in Paxos. It was such a great destination for kids. Have you done other Greek Islands with kids? Any recs? I’m always wanting to find new places to see in Greece.
Momlife means carrying snacks everywhere you go. And then forgetting to hide them for the picture.
Tell me your favorite snacks - adult and toddler, healthy and unhealthy. I want to know them all. #snackqueen #explorestl #grovestl
Dadtoss || Snow came early in Kansas and Z is enjoying it. But don’t let me hear you say that you prefer the cold over the heat! I’ve never met a person from the Caribbean that wanted to move to North Dakota 💯
