The USFWS is considering a proposal to all the killing of endangered Red Wolves. THERE ARE ONLY 35 RED WOLVES IN THE WILD.

Not sure what to say? The @wildlandsnetwork
has some talking points outlined below:
Wildlands Network Talking Points
1. The USFWS preferred alternative for the red wolves (Alternative ) would mark the end of efforts to recover the species in the wild in North Carolina, and is therefore completely unacceptable. By the Agency's own admission, the goal of Alternative 3 is merely to provide a small number of semi-wild animals to use for some future reintroduction effort in some other state.
2. The USFWS preferred plan would also expose all but 10-15 of the 35 remaining wild wolves to being shot by hunters and landowners with zero repercussions or penalties, so in effect there would be an open season on red wolves, one of the most endangered species in the entire world! How embarrassing is that for our country, especially as we lecture other nations on how to take care of lions, tigers, elephants, etc?
3. We greatly prefer and insist on Alternative , which would be a strong effort by USFWS to reinvest in red wolf conservation in North Carolina, with better law enforcement, better landowner outreach, and renewed coyote management and releases of captive wolves to support the wild population. Alternative 2 is the only alternative (out of 4) that advances red wolf conservation, which should absolutely without question be the goal of the USFWS.
4. It is absurd that the agency would push for an alternative that not only goes against their mission, but also ignores the will of the American people. Last year 99.8% of 55,087 public comments supported doing more to protect the red wolf, and only 10 comments (0.0182%) favored the USFWS plan of giving up.
