In Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey, Monoliths are machines built by an unseen extraterrestrial species. In the series of novels (and the films based on these), three Monoliths are discovered in the solar system by humans. The response of the characters to their discovery drives the plot of the series. It also influences the fictional history of the series, particularly by encouraging humankind to progress with technological development and space travel.
The first Monolith appears at the beginning of the story, set in prehistoric times. It is discovered by a group of hominids and somehow triggers a considerable shift in evolution, starting with the ability to use tools and weaponry. It is later revealed that thousands of other monoliths exist elsewhere in the solar system.
Maybe I’m giving my self a little too much credit, but some of you may have noticed I haven’t been posting as often as I normally do as of late. Both on insta and my blog. Well, quick update time. As some of you may know, I have a past degree in wildlife biology, but I decided to go back to school to earn a license to teach high school life science. Well, I’m about a month in to my final semester before student teaching with a full course load, field experience at a local middle school, a job, about to start tutoring on the side, and deep into the prep work for Season 2 of the podcast. All that and of course I need time with my wife and son (that’s my me time 😊). Needless to say, I’m super busy, but things ought to lighten up in the next month or so! So while my time in the sun has largely been replaced by fluorescent lighting for the time being, it’s only temporarily. I hope to get back into my writing and outdoors time routine in the next couple of weeks. Until then, you can join me in longingly admiring this scene of the Brule River. It’s like that quote by Emma Smith “Life is like the river, sometimes it sweeps you gently along and sometimes the rapids come out of nowhere.” But what a journey it is! 😄🌲🌲🌲

Sunsets are a reminder that no matter what happens every day can end beautifully.
“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.”
This is where I find solace. This is beauty.
I love to snap photos of the scenery while hiking, but don’t post them too often. I would really love to start including these shots more! What do you think?
Blissfully unaware of the single mosquito that was gorging himself to death on my ankles. What is it about my blood that’s so damn delicious to these tiny vampires?? 🧛🏻♂️

The best part about exploring after dark is beating the crowds. Peaceful and quiet hikes with no one around.
My face when he says we’re leaving the city and hitting the mountains 🙃
Yup that's exactly what it looks like
It’s Long beach 🏝 kabar mengenai Ping Beach tidak se ping dulu lagi itu benar adanya.
🏝 Location: Long Beach, Labuan Bajo.

I've got so many ideas running thru my mind and I'm just happy I get to share them all...
Managed to do a little bit of work around the shelter on my property despite my knee injury. Need to get out of the self pity train and back at it. Built a heat reflective wall. Spending some time tonight with @canadianpathfinders
so stay tune on both our accounts for upcoming content!
Puffballs by the million!
Doing a bit of maintenance on my tools.
These caves used to be a well hidden gem and one of my favorite hikes until a local newspaper gave it away and people started trashing the place and ultimately ended up being closed to the public. ☹️
Time to go to bed now !! No Instagram feed is ever complete without the mandatory "point at the sky with my flashlight" night shot 😂👌😉📷
Day kit for a partridge hunt 👌❤️
Ever since i did my venison kebabs on a trip last winter..its been a favorite for everyone. Chopped onion, garlic and ginger... Cinnamon, cloves, paprika, nutmeg, salt, pepper and a pinch of garam masala. Sauce is homemade tzatziki on fresh toasted pitas over coals. Cant beat that!
Went and picked pumpkins and squash with the fam today. Now i am headed to work, photographing a wedding. Wish I could go out though so I decided to share a picture from last winter with @canadianpathfinders
Going on our first road trip with the baby on Canadian Thanksgiving. Quebec city & ile d'orleans. One of my favorite places to be in the fall. Pretty stoked ill get to see my buddy who just got back from his first tour in Irak. I'll sure give him thanks.. I never truly understood the sacrifices our soldiers and their families make until I had a baby of my own.. I won't tag him without his consent but ill say it out loud and proud ; I LOVE YOU brother.
PewPew! The Norinco T97 is one of the funnest, most affordable, non restricted firearm available in Canada. However, .223 and 5.56 Nato isnt cheap here..almost a dollar per round. Sucks!!!
