Wonder/wander. Does anyone know how to sharpen photos for the web? I always have super sharp images in print but when it comes to the web and Instagram there is a weirdness to them and they aren’t sharp, even when running a high pass in photoshop.
Missing my favorite little man. 💙
Brain freeze ❄️🌲💦
These white giants lazily floating on the lake looked so inviting. But when the mornings barely brake 4C, the water is ice cold and the wind chills you to the bone it’s hard to accept that invitation. After warming up with coffee, a pep talk from Rose, a moment of courage and frantic dash through the water I was standing on top. Moments later I was back in, refreshed and feeling wildly alive. It was a great way to start the day.
I remember. you sat there, crying

The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves. -Alan Watts
I forgot to bring my tripod on my Washington trip but that’s what rocks are for right?
Calm mornings on the lake got me thinking about getting a Canoe! 🛶 What you guys think?

Sometimes you can’t stop staring.
I had just torn my plantar fascia in my foot. I was at our 6 a.m fitness practice mid summer for UW soccer when I pushed off the 25 yard line and suddenly, I simultaneously felt a pop and felt my hands hit the turf.
It was going to be weeks before I could push off on that foot and I remember being bummed, but also kind of relieved that my summer could now entail more than 5 am wake up calls for fitness works outs Monday- Friday.
I did not know what I would do. But someday during that week I found myself driving down to Oregon and California with zero plans or destinations. One of them sending us into Lone Pine, California.
We searched local hikes and came across Mt Whitney. Little did we know you needed permits so we did a Peak next to it. About 500 ft shorter. My first and only 14 footer to this day is in the Sierra Nevada’s.
We got up at 3 am and drove up to the trail head. Saw a bear scurry along side the road. This spooked me a bit. When I arrived at the trail head, John and I sat there thinking to ourselves, “after seeing that bear, I’m not bringing this salami sandwich with me on this hike...” 😂
We set out at about 4 am. It was dark and we had 11 miles to make it to the summit, my anxiety was on high alert after seeing that bear.
Ignorant enough, we just had a school backpack each: with an extra jacket, some food and some water. No gear, just some running shoes. I dragged John up that mountain when he got altitude sickness about 3-4 miles prior to submitting. I was not turning back and I was not going to let him either.... we finished in 11 hours and 46 minutes with 22 miles hiked. Submitting at 14,026 feet. I’ll never forget those details, despite this being almost 4 years ago.
This was the ignorant trip that had me step over the line and introduced me to the outdoors. While I grew up skiing and hiking with my parents as a kid. This was the line crossed where I gained appreciation. I am very excited to take a backcountry and climbing courses this winter to dive even deeper into skiing and mountaineering.
WE ALL START SOMEWHERE

A pretty special sunset over the T.A. Moulton barn in Grand Teton np. How great is it that these happen every day? .
This was my first time in Wyoming and I’m sure not my last. @joanna.travels
and I only spent a day in Yellowstone and Teton which was not enough time. One of many stops on our road trip from Seattle, up to and down the Canadian Rockies and over to the East coast.
A trip like this is nice because it gives you a broad idea of a lot of different places and sparks inspiration for future trips. After seeing the Canadian and northern Rockies I know I want to hike the CDT. I would love to add on the Great Divide trail but idk if I could handle 3600 miles 😬

Good Morning! Just me on this mountain this AM. Much preferred.
g r o w t h ➕ I just watched a great @myselfreliance
video on YouTube about mental health. Grateful for people who share their stories and open the door for bigger conversations. It’s not an easy thing to do in a world (and on platforms) where you may become a target when you feel rooted enough to speak from your vulnerability.

Happy hump day! 🐪 The smoke in Northern California from the fires has made our air quality pretty bad. So indoors it’s been! What are your favorites ways to spend days indoors?

Just your average smiley tongue out Tuesday 😋 Happy #tot
Smoke from the Roosevelt wildfire billowing out from beyond the mountain. Thought to have been caused by careless hunters who didn't extinguish their embers well enough and they blew into the woods. #onlyyoucanpreventforestfires
