Phi Lusatia Park Pinot Noir, 2008. This the last of six over the years which I have thoroughly enjoyed, thought I’d keep one longer to see how it stood up. Sour cherry, spice, twigs and gentle decay: the nose is really enjoyable. Palate drops away a bit - mostly savoury, as a lot of the fruit has fallen away; there is positive development, but not enough to carry the remaining acid and tannin. On a downward slope, but still some enjoyment there if you drink now. #phi #debortoliwines #lusatiapark #pinotnoir
Vin Jaune, Côtes du Jura 2004, Xavier Reverchon.
Ever had a Vin Jaune before?
Really specific wine from Jura Region. Wine is aged in oak Barrels for minimum 6 years and 3 months.
Wine with beautiful Gold color
You can smell nuts, hazelnuts, 🌰, caramel, wood a'd hint of saffron.
On the palate it's really salty and nuts and it taste like an old white port.
With an old Comté (24 months minimum) it's just like heaven.
Think it's my wine for this weekend 😜🍇
Welschriesling (also known as Ryzlink vlašský🇨🇿) is a white wine grape variety, unrelated to the Rhine Riesling☝️.
Typical varieties of wine are light green-yellow, with a wide range of aromas: from pleasantly floral, 💐with a touch of lime blossom, bitter or green apples 🍏to honey tones🍯 and have a full, harmonious flavor that refreshes with pleasant acidity. In taste we can look for grapefruit, red currant, gooseberry, blossom bouquet, raisins, sweet lemon, 🍋honey tones.

If Italy can have Super Tuscan wine could Texas have Super Texan?
[Toscana, 🇮🇹] Are you a fan of Super Tuscans? Or Gaja perhaps? This Merlot, Cab, Cab Franc Bordeaux blend was true to Gaja’s elegant style. Lush red fruit from the merlot, blackberry, currants and spice from the Cab. Mouth watering acidity, but round, fine, tannins - that paired well with pizza and meatballs. It was drinking beautifully and silky smooth after some decanting. @sienatavern
has an impressive wine menu that also comes highly recommended when you are in downtown Chicago.
I am quite ready for spring and leisurely lunches on the lawns! This winter is dragging on now. Give me sunshine and white wine 😍🌸 also wouldn’t mind another trip to @zorgvlietwines
to savour their extraordinary Bordeaux style blends.
The festival of JJ Prüm continues with this flight from last night’s #onemorebottle
riesling tasting. Really interesting to see these side by side. Caveat to the below is that I woke up with a mild cold post tasting so it’s possible I wasn’t in peak tasting form.
Much like the 2011 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett that I wrote about in my last post the 2011 Kabinett has settled into its skin. Lithe and delicate with just a touch of front palate sweetness. The 2012 however is showing a little more concentration and acidity. Feels unforced, graceful, displaying a super line of minerality. For my tastes I would be drinking the 11 kabs now and holding the 12s.
2012 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese was absolutely gorgeous on the nose, still intensely concentrated with an electric acid line showing notes of white peach, lime and lychee. Years ahead of this one.
Sadly the 2012 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese was horrifically corked. A shame since it would have been great to contrast the three levels with a bit of age on them.
Are you joining us this weekend at our pop up degustation? Rumour has it that Jeff has been sampling the wine ahead of the weekend, and that it is perfect and ready for the event 👍 Make sure to book your tickets, link in our bio.
🍷SWIPE LEFT🍷 In the theme of keeping it local this weekend (and mixing things up), my husband and I decided to try Rozi’s wine house and Tartine Bistro. I have been to Rozi’s a few times but mostly just to buy wine. This time was sat on their lovely patio with some tasty white wines. He had a German Riesling and 8 had a Greek white blend. We tried Tartine Bistro for the first time last night. What a wonderful discovery! Of course it was no average night, it was their 10th anniversary we stumbled upon! They had a live band and a menu of small bites for $10. But what really got me was the wine list. They had an amazing selection of French wines (some from Italy and US as well). They actually won a Wine spectator award of excellence this year! They also have a small beer list – but the beer they have is a great selection. They actually have Saison Dupont on tap 🍺 We ended up sitting next to a French woman at the bar. Her name was Chris and apparently she went there every night to get a glass of Port... so amazing! Caylen had a spectacular time speaking with her in French ❤️🍷 Needless to say we will be back. They have happy hour and brunch and their food looked amazing (hint, hint, if anyone wants to join me)! @tartine.bistro @wine_spectator @roziswinehouse #designwino #wine #winesofinstagram
: I couldn’t help myself.. let’s take another trip to a different side of Toscano just outside of Bolgheri. Lodovico and Piero teamed up to find this Vineyard near Ornellaia and Sassicaia to make this beautiful Bordeaux style blend of cab franc, merlot, Cabernet, petite Verdot blend.. 2010 Bibbona Biserno . Same vintage as the Felsina but so much more purity and balance in the acidity. Drinking great but can go another 5-8 years.

Thank you so much !
Koyle’s Cerro Basalto 2014: Chilean S Rhône blend from thin soils over iron-rich basalt bedrock. Rich and structured with notes of juicy plum, blackberries, chocolate, garrigue, ink, smoke, mushrooms... On the palate, fresh acidity, chewy tannins, and a dry liquorice finish.
Prosecco - Has the Bubble Popped!
Prosecco has become the people’s choice of bubbles as the wine’s popularity continues to grow. According to prosecco.wine, 440 million bottles of #Prosecco
, which is mostly in sparkling form, is sold globally. It is true that more tourists are visiting Italy and falling in love with these uncomplicated #wines
and being so easy to find back at home it is easy to recapture that holiday mood. However, two more reasons for the continued excitement around Prosecco – the price and its fruity personality.
In times of financial uncertainty such as these, the lower price of Prosecco makes it undeniably attractive. Whereas, #Champagne
houses have spent more than a century associating themselves with luxury, Prosecco makers have come and told us that we can have it as an everyday treat. Whenever we want to. Good day. Bad day. Birthday. Everyday. @mywinesociety @feastitforward #wine #winetasting @wineguys @wineenthusiast #wineblogger #Italy
Did I forget to mention their A+ marketing. Such an “on trend” wine brand! “LOVE YOU. MISS YOU. HATE YOU. LOVE YOU. MEANT IT.” 💥
