There are a couple of ideas about the origins of the name Soave.
The first one is that it comes from the terms “Svevi” or “Suavi”: populations who tried to conquer Italy in the Dark Ages.
The other one comes from Dante, who gave the name (Soave in italian means suave) to the city close to Verona just for the goodness of the wines produced in this area.

Isn’t this what winter is all about? Catching the afternoon sun with a glass of Shiraz in hand & my faithful terrier Basil 👌
This number is by @darenbergwine
and it’s their 2012 ‘The Love Grass’ Shiraz purchased a few years ago and what a reward when opening! ⬇️⬇️
Nose is black current, pencil shavings, hints of Ribena, dark chocolate, dried fig and spice. Taking a sip you are overwhelmed by rich and velvety dark fruits, cigar box, cedar, dark chocolate with Christmas spice. Firm tannins which builds and provides great length with a dry leathery finish. The savouriness will keep coming as the bottle ages 🙏 #delicious
I do not repost stuff usually, but this label is just hillarious. Let's hope that global warming, technology advancements, aliens 👽 or whatever type of scary sh* help the inside of this bottle to match its outside

: This wine really made me 1) want a bicycle 🚲 2) buy some oranges 🍊. The latter actually turned into a reality but the former didn’t seem like such a good idea the next day (if you’ve never met someone who is unco at riding a bike, now you have!).
Tasting note 📝: Deep garnet with slight purple tinge in the glass. The nose is a little bit minty with some blackberries, raspberries and a whiff of cedar wood. In the mouth I picked up berries and wonderful smooth tannins with some dark chocolate and freshness.
‼️ Did you know ‼️This @cumuluswines
2015 Cabernet Merlot is inspired by the rolling hills of the Central Ranges near Orange. The grapes are sourced from sub-600m 🍇 vines! And the lovely Beatrice on the bottle is proudly wearing the scarf of the local Orange Emus football team! How’s that for a label with a story!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine

Villa Maria 2015 Single Vineyard Taylors Pass Pinot Noir (SRP $42): Talk about love at first sniff. There are notes of beautiful red fruits, violets, incense, and savory herbs. The aromas come through on the palate, with round texture, well-placed acidity, and a nice spice-tinged finish. Mary may have one less lamb (yum) come tomorrow. #FirstSipNZ #VillaMaria #OpenAnotherWorld #wine #winelover #WineWednesday #PinotNoir #nzwine
[Bandol, Provence, 🇫🇷, Château de Pibarnon] When in South of France, I need to drink Bandol - and soak up all that warmth, sunshine, ripe fruit and deep concentration of jammy goodness. 90% Mourvedre- upon first sip, the layers start to unfold and you begin to get mocha, tobacco and spice. Overall, a beautiful companion to a fusion meal in old town of Cannes. More importantly, it’s over this wine, I’ve gotten to know Alex Hacpille from our Paris office - we spoke about his love for Burgandian wine and his former career in Bangkok and Singapore. Just like this bottle, beneath the label, lies the most fascinating stories. All you have to do is bring a sense of curiosity to every dinner table and ask.
Another post from my #winetasting
tour at @jarviswinery
! This was from the sit down tasting. All the wines were poured at once which was different than what I’m used to.
What a treat we had last night! I love being a manager sometimes, and so proud of my little team for winning this team incentive, dinner with winemaker Hugh Crichton from the awesome Vidal Estate in Hawkes Bay. An outstanding line up of wines and even more outstanding food at @oysterandchop
!! Indulging in Legacy Chardonnay 2014 from a magnum was probably the highlight for me, anyone who knows my wine geek self knows how much I LOVE Chardonnay. Legacy Chardonnay is such an amazing expression of a winemakers style, it’s a uniquely flinty, fruity, creamy drop. Gunpowder on the nose, and the palette follows through with amazing fruit weight, white peach and toasted almonds. It has beautiful acidity balance and a very lengthy finish. I was geeking out for sure. Such a good laugh, great chats, and great wine banter. Thanks team!

Antipasto Sangiovese paired with The Garden. New blog post is live! 🔗 in bio. I gave this wine a rating of 2.5/5 ⭐️
Thanks to @yalumbawine
for last night at @lordrobertshotel
We spent a good time discovering their range 👌🏼
The Virgilius Viognier and the Octavius Shiraz were both my favourites. 🧡 Well done!! 👏🏼

I love these winter vibes!
Domaine Cornu never fails me.
Elegantly detailed wines made with organically farmed fruit. This PINOT noir is from the appellation of Pernand-Vergelesses, in Nuits-St-Georges and offers more power than I expected. The full range is good value...from Burgundy...bonus hey!? 🍷👌 .
Whilst my Chloé boots are new to me, they are actually PRE-LOVED! My new years resolution was to buy less, and buy second-hand where possible. Why?
Every new item of clothing you purchase has an impact on the environment. A nylon shirt takes 30-40 years to degrade (as will these leather boots) 😔
I could not afford to drop $2500 on a brand new pair of these!
Recycled items are cheaper, so I figure I can spend more on wine 🤗
Here’s to getting through hump day! What 🍷’s in your glass on this fine #WineWednesday

pairs well with the warmth, longer days, and sunshine that summer brings. Just about everything I’ve had from them—white & red—displayed freshness and bright acidity. We’ll be celebrating with three of their Taylors Pass single-vineyard wines tonight at 8PM EST. Pour something refreshing and join the Twitter convo by following #FirstSipNZ

😎 VACATION 😎 ...
Well, not quite there yet, but closer! Today I trekked across the Keystone State to drop off my bridesmaids dresses and 🐱. Tonight I’m uncorking this Vino Lauria Frappato from Sicily! 🇮🇹 And tomorrow I’m headed to Florida. ✈️ ...
Frappato has quickly become one of my favorite red wines for summer. Have you tried it?
