Fun Thursday lineup. Cheers!
Beringer | 2013 | Cabernet Sauvignon | Private Reserve | Beringer is one of the old houses that most people know them for their entry level wine and beautiful property, but when you dig deeper, you’re happy to find some higher quality, long lasting wines. Notes of blackberries, blue florals, mocha, cedar, cigar box, black currant, cassis and licorice. Bold palate, dark brooding fruit with a smoky mid-palate. Well layered, firm, and huge tannins on the finish. It’s drinking well right now upfront but the tannins are rough, almost overpowering the entire wine itself. This is likely to get much better over the years as long as the fruit holds up. Cellar it for now, give it a few years and return to it. Good for the next 7-10 years. | 93+ points | $190 |

🌼🌞 Hello Spring! It’s a glorious, sunny day in the Barossa - the sun is shining and we can hear the birds chirping from the ancient gum trees that frame our Cellar Door. Perfection 🌱🍇🍷
The Dão has come alive delivering a bounty of Jaen, one of the main varietals native to the #Portuguese
is hard at work bringing these babies home.
There is a lot of work that goes into preparation for our Winemaking season. Here, The Pit Boss, aka Vince, is cleaning the barrel with proxy, flushing the barrel and finally, it will be steamed before the grapes come in. 🍇🍇🍇 #winemaking #winelife
Our new house Rose does deserve a thumbs up 👍
2017 Cotier Riesling
-Barney Flanders from Garagistes wine of Mornington Peninsula decided he wanted to take a look at how carbonic maceration and skin contact might work in his white wine ferments. It begat this range of wines. All wines under the label Côtier are made with white grapes but see extended time on skins and ferment naturally in carbonic conditions. The 2017 Riesling is just such good drinking textural wine that evolves wonderfully in the glass. Bruised apple, sweet lemon, light honey, ginger spice and florals are supported by chewy texture that offer gentle soft powdery grip
2015 Domaine Paul Janin Les Greneriers
-Janins wine seduce you with the charismatic charm of top shelf Cru Beaujolais. These are wines that are crafted from old Gamay vines planted in various areas over the steep, granitic and manganese-laden slopes of Moulin-a-Vent. They can be some of the most concentrated, intensely aromatic and structured wines of the entire region. Les Greneriers come from 2 parcels of organically tendered to vines amassing 1.1ha total. They’re 60+ years in average age and are known to produce a very full bodied expression of Beaujolais. The 2015 marries the mineral side and graphite granite with dense dark fruits and plush velvety texture giving the palate remarkable volume. This juice is big boned but concentrated in finesse
2015 By Farr Farrside
-The Farr estate is located in the Moorabool Valley between Geelong and Ballarat, 100km southwest of Melbourne. The estate is founded in 1994 by Gary and his wife. Gary has a world of experience and knowledge especially with Burgundian varietals. With the aid of his son Nick together they are making some wonderful wines. The Farrside vineyard we drink tonight sits on a northeast-facing slope and consists of limestone topped with black volcanic soil. The vines are very protected from the sun making this site the latest harvested of the whole estate. The 2015 is full of delicious fruit, spice and mineral flavours. It’s brambly in nature with forest floor qualities, sweet spice scent and wonderful savoury character. Finesse and elegance to the max this is looking to be an outstanding long lived Farrside
What’s a fridge without a magnet? What’s a home without wine?
When I was taking WSET level 2 I learned about the @delectable
app from a few people in my class. I downloaded it right away — so excited to track wines! 🤓 Now about 1.5 years later I’m so honored and excited to be Delectable’s Featured User of the week. 💁♀️ Even if you don’t have the app (which you should!) you can check out my interview via the link in my bio >> @megandmerlot.
Geo tag says NYC because I leave for Italy tomorrow!!! Chilling at our hotel tonight enjoying some @rightnowwine.
