Something different today... I have set myself a goal to move and stretch more, initially aiming for two sessions a week (stretching / yoga / pilates). I am sure I am not alone when I realise I have flexibility issues and reduced range of movement in certain areas of my body (particularly my hamstrings). I’m posting about menstruation because this is important.
A friend of mine just had a serious health scare due to Toxic Shock Syndrome. She is on the mend now, thank God! She has been using tampons for nearly 15 years and never had an issue. I’m echoing what she recently said- there are reasons the “non-toxic” tampon brands exist (and Playtex Sport is not one of them 😱). I myself am a huge fan of a product called The Diva Cup. You can look it up, but it is a small menstrual cup made of medical-grade silicone that replaces any tampons and pads. You read that right: ZERO tampons or pads needed. And this product lasts for years.
I wouldn’t have even known about it except a girlfriend of mine who is a missionary told me about it a couple years back. And I have been using it ever since. Total Gamechanger. All the women on her team were encouraged to get one since they were traveling for a year and going to remote places where they may not have access to feminine products.

A cold, slow, low energy kind of day meant this was what was needed to put a small fire inside to get me through the next Mum shift of dinner, bath & bed. It just felt good to move mindfully with my breath for 15mins. I’m pretty sure my body is grateful too 🙌🏻

Our body is made up of 60% water. So it only makes sense to ensure that we stay on top of our H2O game. If we don’t..
The effects of being dehydrated:
- Raised cortisol
- Slower metabolism
- Lack of focus
- Always hungry for sugary foods
- bad breath
- Holding on to water retention
- Lack of motivation
- Hormonal imbalances
There’s just some of the things that can occur when we don’t drink enough water.
Every one should aim for 3 litres minimum on a regular day but if you’re training, have a hard laboured job, move, sweat and do more in your day to day lives then you’ll need more.
If you want to reduce water weight, improve performance in the gym and out side of the gym then start with making sure you’re drinking enough water every day and keeping hydrated. 💦

Let’s talk women’s hormones and the fact that we all turn into a sloth at “that time of the month”. .
Or is that just me? 🙈 I feel like I’m all of a sudden living life in slow motion. I guess because I’m go go go all the time (which is my life and yes I choose this 99% of the time) but when it comes “that” time it’s always on the weekend and I always think WHY CANT THIS BE DURING THE WEEK! 🤣 #kidfreetime
Us mums of toddlers don’t always have the freedom to go lay down, take time time out and just reflect and honor our bodies to relax when we need to. We have kids to look after and unless they are old enough to do their own thing, we need to be #Mum
I’m ALL about listening to our bodies and tuning into what we should be doing, not blocking out the subtle hints that tells us to relax. But this is pretty much impossible for me at this point of my life with #triplets
