I’m surprised to learn that a third of women in East Sussex missed their last smear test.
I know many women suffer fear or anxiety regarding the test, but the nurses are really supportive and understanding.
The actual appointment takes less than 5minutes - with the longest part of it being the decision about whether you should keep your socks on or take them off...
The short examination is a tiny bit uncomfortable, but not painful. The procedure can save your life. It’s also offered to you at zero cost, it’s free - isn’t that amazing?! Next time you get that reminder letter, or if you know you’ve missed an appointment, please do ring your surgery & book it up. It really could change your life 💕

Slow, slower & control are something my clients will hear me saying a lot throughout their sessions. For me focusing on the eccentric part of any movement is crucial!! Really keeping that muscle under tension!! If you can’t control the weight on the eccentric phase I’d advise dropping the weight to one where you can and I am sure you’ll start feeling the specific muscle be used far more.

On the way to the hospital now to visit my sister, who just gave birth to her 2nd child.
Like me, she too had #pcos
, but managed to conceive after 1 year of #tcm
and very, very strict dieting e.g. no coffee, no cold drinks, no "cooling" fruits...you named it.
As for me, I am different. Taking coffee away from me is just...murder. But I've cut down coffee drastically, started regular exercise, sleep earlier, less "cooling" foods etc.
Sometimes I can't help but feel like, I'm gonna take longer than her to conceive, because I'm not as "hardworking". But I dunno, each body is different right.
For now, I'm thankful to be a 2nd time aunt 😊

If you experience both low energy levels during the day and sugar or salty snack cravings around 15:00 -17:00 pm then it's time to improve your breaksfast routine! Most clients are amazed an how their mood, energy and focus changes with only this small twist. And surprisingly no one sees the connection 😀🤷♀️ ➡️ The trick is: have plenty of room temp liquids (preferably water) imediatly after you wake up, eat no later that 1 hour after you wake up (so you don't experience a glycemic drop that will artificially spike your cortisol and set you up for a carrousel ride the whole day), have a protein-fat-fiber packed breakfast. ➡️ The PFF meals are like big heavy logs you put on your fire so you have stable long lasting energy to burn troughout the day. The better you eat, the more stable you feel! I see fast carbs (hello croisant and orange juice, or breaksfast cereal with milk) in the morning like trying to feed straws to a fire...they burn out easily and leave you wanting for more all day! It's like going on a very frustrating carousel ride that starts in the morning and end up crashing at night leaving you feeling energy depleeted and emotionally unstable, or maybe even disapointed of yourself.
I have corrected my #chronicfatigue
now (a 3 year process for me) and I can manage if a day or two I skip breaksfast, but for someone who's just begining their healing journey, this meal is essential. ➡️ What should you eat? I recovered by having nourishing bowls with oats and plenty of chia hemp, pumpkin seeds and nut butters with low carb fruit, hard cheese with sprouts and microgreens, eggs and avocado in many many ways always alongside greens like kale, parsley, dill, andive, radicchio salad, sourdough bread with butter and chopped nuts 🤤💛 loads of small omega3 fatty fish like sardines, and plenty of unsweetened breakfast smoothies. I use #adaptogens
right in the morning and completely avoid caffeinated drinks.

Something I have really acknowledged lately is how easy it is to let self doubt get in the way of achieving the dreams I set for myself. I have recently started to set time aside to let myself dream of all the things I would love to accomplish in life if there were absolutely no barriers. This was taken 2 hrs after I got back to my room post operation.
My bladder spasms were so bad it forced me to walk and get out of bed. 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ What they failed to tell me about this operation is that I would have this new side effect I have never in heard of. And I had to figure it out myself what the fuck was going on. That’s what frustrated me.
What are they? They are a result of my bladder being moved and inspected during the procedure. Also they placed blue dye through my tubes to test my fertility to make sure they were blocked. Got the all clear. 👌🏼 Bladder spamming feels like a twitching muscle, like a really twitchy eye. It makes you feel like you are busting to relieve yourself every 10mins. This tiring routine went on till 4:30am the next morning. 😭
So boy did I move around a lot post operation. Think it’s why it added so much discomfort to my pain. Getting up and down constantly.💩 I feel like I need to be real, with women. To show real symptoms. Because I would sooo want to know about this. 💁🏼♀️ Lees x

Coffee ☕️ So many of us rely on it heavily to get up in the morning & function but also lots of women do not realise that caffeine can have a major effect on your monthly cycle, fertility & side effects for the menopause.
It’s something I couldn’t live without, I would use it as a pre workout, a pick me up in the afternoon, I thought it would help me lose weight & also my diet use to be so poor that it was the only thing that helped me go to the loo 🙈🤢(sorry if that was too much info!) On 1st October 2017 when i flew home from an amazing 3 weeks working at The Body Holiday in Saint Lucia I decided that would be my last coffee in preparation for IVF - anyone who goes through IVF is time to cut caffeine out of their diet or at least reduce it as it messes up your hormones and when your pumping your body full of additional hormones the last thing you want is anything making those side effects worse!!! So I drank my last coffee on the beach, it was a latte & it was lush!
Fast forward a year to September 2018 & I still hadn’t had a coffee - I couldn’t believe I had almost made it a year with out it!
I felt amazing, I slept better, I was so much less bloated from the excess milk I use to have in my latte’s and I felt sharper & more focused (coffee has been proven to reduce the blood flow to the brain by up to 30%) But I’d also had 2 failed rounds of IVF I was broken inside & out & was in a mindset of f*ck it!! I’m not going to have another round of IVF yet I’m going to have a coffee!!! BIG MISTAKE!!!!! So on 1st December I changed to decaf (not ideal as it’s highly over processed & full of chemicals but easier than going cold turkey) I always try to have organic where possible & limit these to 2 a day max!
The decaf however needs to go & from the 1st Feb I will be back on fruit teas only!
The one thing I have noticed is that my monthly cycle was effected straight away - caffeine for me, has a direct impact on to my PMS & PMT
For my lovely clients who are going through the menopause, caffeine also heightens your side effects for hot flushes & night sweats.
So big question Is do YOU really need it too?
When Boots Season is finally over I always feel a little sad... 🤷🏼♀️😪👢 .
On another note, always feel comfortable taking a day for yourself. 🙏🏼 I used to feel so guilty saying ‘No’ to things at the weekend. But for anyone who works a Mon-Fri job, it’s so important for your mental wellbeing to be selfish with your time. ✨
I spend my week having to commit to things (sometimes that I don’t necessarily LOVE the idea of doing) 🙇🏼♀️, so doing things that make me most happy, that make me feel like I’ve have had time to rest, recuperate & get back to 20mph not 110mph are what I’m going to prioritise. 🌞 And if you need it; so should you!!🌞

It’s easy for it to creep up on you, when you have this illness or any chronic illness for that matter. Countless days spent in bed, inside unable to do normal things. Work participate in normal activities.

Sitting in the waiting room for my very last appointment (13 weeks pregnant) with the fertility clinic, surrounded by so many women who are starting the journey, in the middle of IVF, IUI, testing etc and it brings me to tears. Their faces tell a story.. I will NEVER forget the journey it's taken us to conceive. I was there just 3 months ago and in so many ways I'm still there. I used to wonder why did we have to go down this expensive and invasive path when we try to be good people and love everyone's children. Now I thank God that we still had an option. Infertility is sooo hard but I'll never give up and I'll always remember my worth, mom or not. Being a woman is hard whether we have children or not. Our bodies go through so many stages beginning around 12 years old!! Periods, child bearing, menopause, for me also fibroids, surgeries, and adenomyosis.. the list goes on...And we have to hold our heads up high and show up for life everyday. We are warriors no matter the path we choose.
