Any podcast listeners out there?! 🤔 . Tonight's run was all about just getting the miles in (and avoiding the cold ❄️😂) so a treadmill run it was!! . I have got a bit of a love hate relationship with the treadmill! Sometimes I love getting on one and getting the miles done, but other times I just find running on a treadmill so boring!! To try and prevent any boredom tonight I thought I would give listening to a podcast a go as I've seen and heard a lot of people recommending them! . I went for @marathontalk tonight and I enjoyed it but has anyone got any other brill podcast recommendations? Focused on building lean muscle, dropping the body fat % but also working on my endurance! . I can kill a 6 rep strength lift, ask me to do anything past 30 seconds & I feel like I’m dying! . 'Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead' 🧡. These brill words from @karagoucher well and truly sum up my mood right now! . Throughout this year I have made huge amounts of progress with my running. I am at my fastest since 2014 and I am absolutely desperate to get @manchestermarathon training underway to see just how far I've come!! . I know there will be hurdles along the way! I'm currently soaking in a nice warm bath instead of being down the running club due to my back tightening up again 😬 and the hard training hasn't even begun yet! But marathon training is never going to be easy and those hurdles will be overcome!! I've got 4 days to get my back eased off and 4 days to get my head in the game! . Training for marathon number 3 officially starts on Monday! The goal, sub 3:45 (and hopefully a London GFA 🤞🤞)! Massive thankyou to @dan_varney for dragging me out of bed, seriously could not do it without you!! . This morning's workout focused on developing some upper body strength, defintely an area of weakness for me! And now I'm strength training more regularly I'm actually managing to focus on particular areas in each session rather than just trying to blast a full body workout every time. It was an all black kinda workout, RIP legs - tomorrow is going to be a killer! . 👋🏻5 POSITIVE HABITS FOR A FANTABULOUS DAY - 👋🏻Heyyaaaaaa!👋🏻 - Question... Have you ever thought about how your first thought, sentence or action of the day impacts your outlook, mood and the ability to succeed for that day? - If you haven't let me fill you in... - “A big humongous massive one” - If the first thing you think is “ oh gawwwd not another day “ If first thing you say is “this day is going to be terrible a day ” Then you first thing you do is stomp into the bathroom then you've dived straight into a negative start to the day. - I have a little deal with myself no matter what I’ve got going on (because we all have days like that) I always think and say something positive first thing and I always make my bed. - This little chain of events helps to positively focus my mind every single morning. - Throughout the day you should totally treat your body with respect by letting it move and feeding nutrients. - Keep in mind that a little goes a long way so you don't need to climb Kilimanjaro or spend 3 hours in a yoga class a quick walk at lunch and few minutes desk stetching, while you eat your protein and veg done consistently will positively impact your physical and mental health. - To date I've never left a lifting session muttering wish I'd not bothered, you get a spring in your step and an empowered mind. - Everyone is busy and has their own shit going on I get it, but honestly a smile and a "hey how are you?" to the human serving you coffee costs you nothing in time or effort, and do you know what, you could be helping someone who's having a bad day to think actually maybe life isn't so bad. - Don't underestimate the power of the smallest things. - Have a terrific day... oh and hey 😁 how are you today? - 👌🏻👊🏻✌🏻🤗🙏🏻

6 SIGNS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD MIGHT NEED SOME WORK. - Hello my Polly pocket rockets! - Have any of those got you nodding? - I've been there bought the t shirt on all of them and all at the same time and it all came to down to me wanting to stay mega lean all year round because in my mind if I didn't I would be unattractive and a failure. Low self esteem at it's best - It's sounds so corny but the relationship you have with yourself, is one of the most powerful drivers in your life and if that relationship isn't good then it will tip over into other areas of your life such as your relationships with others and of course your eating habits. - Patterns of disordered eating are unfortunately more common than many realise. - Many times there will be a link with having poor overall body image which leads to being on and off super restrictive diets in an attempt to try and change their body and therefore how they feel about themselves. - This cycle is probably one of the most common ones I see when a new online client starts with me. - Overall a funky relationship with food and yourself is a ball busting cycle to be living in. - I talk from my own personal experience of having a binge cycle a few years ago caused by restrictive dieting and a body image fear post competing. - I'm totally out the other side of it now and my relationship with myself and my food is all good. - So what can you do if you're living this now, if you're currently slowly spiralling into having an unhealthy food relationship? Well here's some things that helped me - 1. Understand how you got here once you acknowledge that then you know what it is you need to change. For me it was the severe restriction, being mega lean and not being a  happy human in my mind so I knew all those things needed to change. - 2.Find someone you look up to, decide what it is about that person that you admire most has it got anything to do with the shape of their body or how much they weigh?probably not. - When your having a bad day refer back to that just as a reminder that you are so much more than a body shape or a number. - Cont in comments ( fingers won't shut up!)

One of my favourite exercises from my full body Dumbbell workout! . Perform a straight Leg Deadlift - but hold that bottom position! . Keep your bum pushed back so you can feel a stretch in those hamstrings, keep you’re core engaged then turn your hands so palms are facing each other. Drive the elbows back really squeezing those shoulder blades at the top! . Return to standing! Believing in yourself is the first secret to success 🧡 . A couple of months ago I would have never been in a gym strength training! The idea of lifting weights was just so alien to me. I didn't understand why I needed to life weights as a runner and I certainly didn't feel confident walking into a gym and giving it a go! . Fast forward three months and I'm in the gym atleast once a week and im absolutely loving life! This morning I even went in at 4am to complete my second strength session of the week (and yes this is a ridiculous time to be in the gym but needs must!!!) . Although I still have a lot to learn, and a lot of technique to perfect, I'm most proud of my progress! I feel confident walking into a gym, I feel like the weight sessions are having a positive impact on my body and I feel my whole mind set towards training changing! I’d never really thought about how I unintentionally belittle myself, regardless of how others do it, until today (ironically) when in a meeting I was referred to as “the girl”. The notion that women who strive for excellence in the workplace, in society and in gym are “cute” makes me howl with laughter (whilst leaving me rather angry also). We strive for excellence for the same reasons men do. In exercise for example, we seek physical & mental health, fitness & wellbeing. Smashing a PB is an achievement regardless of age, gender or capability. Speak wisely... each and everyone one of us. So ladies & gents, here’s my year before and after! On the left i was 6 months postpartum and ready to lose the last of my baby weight and ready to increase my overall fitness, honestly even pushing the pram up a slight hill and I felt like I was dying . When I started I couldn’t complete 3 full sets of kettlebell exercises, I could hold a plank for 10 seconds. I struggled to lift a 4kg kettlebell above my head . Fast forward a year and yes, my physical ‘transformation’ isn’t massive, it isn’t dramatic but I have more muscle now than I did. I’m still in a calorie surplus and I’m still trying to put on weight . I’ve managed to start from nothing and surpass my strength from 4 years ago! Im so proud of how far I’ve come, and let’s face it - I’m only really getting started . IT'S A BLACK AND WHITE WORLD Is it really? I hope not!! My 13 year old special needs son views the world this way and I actually believe many others do too. .. Beautiful or ugly Good or bad Fat or thin Fit or unfit Happy or sad Energetic or lazy Clever or stupid Colourful or dull It feels like an either/or situation but what about all the shades in between? Are we trapped into putting people into boxes? Are we making these black and white judgments of people? What about the person who has a lovely smile, big nose, thin hair, gorgeous legs, fit enough to dance all night but not fit enough to run a marathon, happy most of the time but has her down moments, energetic but likes to have a lazy moment and put her feet up, clever with languages but not so much with maths and sees herself as a good person but can do things that she isn't proud of. Wow that's quite a list but don't these describe a lot of us? Yet society often puts us into categories! I'm trying to teach my son to view the world differently as he unfortunately is often put in a box himself. There are so many lights and shades to people's characters which makes life interesting. Us humans are such complex colourful creatures, it's time we accept and explore more of each other and practice more acceptance. To start off, I was annoyed that I didn’t have an ‘after’ pic from the same angle, but I actually look about the same width!! 🙊 same gin-themed jumped, 12 (well, 11) months apart! Things have slowed down lately, and I’ve been struggling to stay away from the mince pies - got a bit complacent with feeling and looking better, you know?! - but deep down I know that I won’t go back to how I looked before. When I invite people to join me, one of the most common responses is ‘I don’t have enough time - sorry - but I’ll carry on following your journey, you’re doing great!’ Don’t apologise to me, apologise to yourself, you deserve better than takeaways, feeling lethargic and 3000 steps a day (on a good day!) - this was the best decision I ever made!
