So, muscles are hard earned. They take dedication. They take commitment to keep going even when you don’t see the results...yet. That little bump on top of my bicep and that faint line in the middle of my arm are two years in the making. There were days where I have run to the mirror hoping they were showing up because I felt strong. Here is what I have learned. Strong isn’t about what you can see. Strong is what is on the inside that pushes you to go even when you can’t yet see the results. Strong is that small voice inside your head that tells you that you can when your body is trying to tell you that you can’t. Strong is showing up every dang day for two years and having trust and faith in the process and that it would deliver me where I want to be. Am I ripped and shredded? Nope. But, I am so freaking strong!!! #flexfriday

Still at 21# down and as frustrating as it is that the scale isn’t moving, my clothes are fitting much differently and that’s huge to me. These shorts were snug around my legs, well everywhere in December. Now, they are really loose. A lot of my clothes are loose, clothes that were tight or didn’t fit actually fit now. These are the things that make me continue to keep going to the gym every day. I always got to remind myself, what I use to be vs the person I'm transforming into now. Nobody sees the time and sweat that you put in the gym. Eating healthy. This is not a day process, nor a week process, not even a month process. It has taken me 4 long years but don't think it has always been all about getting fit. I have failed numerous of times. I had to force myself back into that fitness mindset. Some people take less time. Some people take more time. It doesn't matter how long it takes. As long as you put in the work and be consistent. REMEMBER consistency is key! Nobody is going to hand you money. Nobody is going to hand you an education. Nobody is going to hand you a healthy life. You have to go out there and work for it. "It's not about perfect. It's about the effort and when you implement that effort into your life...Every single day, that's where transformation happens. That's how change occurs. Keep going. Don’t ever underestimate your worth. Do not let those voices in your head convince you that you are not worth the sweat, the time or the energy. Every ounce of sweat and every minute of the last two years have been worth the sacrifice. Worth the early alarms, worth the grocery bills for all the organic produce and meat, worth the sore muscles and broken finger nails. Why? Because everything I do and everyone I love directly benefits from the time I spend with myself getting my workouts in. They directly benefit from my improved mood, less migraines, more energy and positive mindset. I finally have decided to make me a priority and everything around me has improved as a result. One rock thrown into a pond can create a tidal wave!!!
I came across this picture of me and my mom last year and I wanted to take a moment to share this. When I talk about this transformation being a journey I remember where I started. Last year at this time I was at my heaviest weight ever, even heavier than when I was pregnant with my son. I joined the gym last January 2018. I was doing cardio and lost a few pounds, then gained them back. I was frustrated and wanted to quit when @bobby_cartalemi talked me into considering personal training. I started training in June with @brandonfmauro and haven’t looked back since. I am approaching a milestone, one that took a year to achieve; I’m hoping at my next weigh in on Sunday I can say I’ve lost 50 lbs!!! I remember when I got excited about 12 lbs and then when I lost 21 lbs in the fall challenge. But hitting the 50 lb mark is something I never saw myself doing. And I’m not done. I don’t plan to stop. I have other goals beyond weight loss. So if you find yourself getting discouraged because you are not seeing the results you expected remember it is truly a journey and it takes time. For me I wanted a lifestyle change and I did just what I set out to do. The question is never ‘are you going to the gym?’ It’s ‘when are you going to the gym?’ There’s no question about what I will or won’t eat. I approach life with a positive mindset and try to remember my health is important if I want to have a long happy life. And I guess my positive approach shows bc one of my students said to me this week ‘how do you do it?’ ‘Do what?’ ‘Stay so positive all the time?’ I smiled and told the student that being positive doesn’t mean I don’t have bad days. I have spent the last 2 days fighting off a cold and dealing with stress I’d rather not have. But going to the gym helps me stay focused on the positive. And after today’s chest workout and cardio my head is clear and ready for a good nights sleep! I’ve found that a good training session or workout can help a lot of things; stress, sore joints, migraines, fatigue (yes fatigue) and problems sleeping. If you don’t work out regularly start out small. Take a short walk on your lunch break, play ball or go sledding with the kids. Any kind of activity is better than no activity when you are starting out. Then build on that increasing time and intensity. Yesterday I went Bridesmaid dress shopping for my beautiful friend @vickivictoriacarter ‘s upcoming wedding. This wasn’t the dress chosen, but days like these ones always remind me of how far I’ve come. I remember being in a wedding and wasn’t able to get a dress that the other girls were wearing because it didn’t come in my size, when we went to a bridal store they had one dress for me to try on and it barely fit. Now, when bridesmaid dress shopping was brought up I didn’t stress about if the store carried my size, or if there would be dresses for me to try on. Do you also have trouble sleeping? 😴 I've tried a ton of techniques and consumed a lot of medication and the only thing that actually worked for me was a mixture out of lavender tea, meditating & exercising 2 times a week. 😅 I highly recommend meditating and working out for a number of reasons, but it has helped me the most with having more "productive" sleep. Drinking lavender tea before bedtime was more for my soul & mental health than for the beneficial effects on my body. I don’t always “feel” like working out. The day I took this picture (I’m getting better at selfies...) I really did not feel like going to the gym. But I always always feel better after working out. I think it’s the healthiest way to deal with stress. It strengthens our immune system, and releases endorphins that make us happy—-confront stress, anxiety, and depression. - I workout 3 days a week for an hour or so. Not only do I feel better, but mentally I process my thoughts and my life. I’m not a “social” exerciser. I don’t really talk to a lot of people when I’m working out. It’s a solid hour with no phone...no emails...no texts...ironically, I get a form of privacy—-even though I’m in plain sight. I actually solve a lot of problems while I’m working out because I can just THINK! 😵 - The next time you don’t feel like working out, remember that even seasoned veterans...who have been doing it for a LONG time...feel that way. Try to push yourself, think of the benefits, and do it anyway! 😊👍🏻💪🏻👊🏻

Mommas- it's okay to make yourself a priority. It doesn't make you less of a momma. It doesn't mean that you love your kiddos less it means that you love them and yourself enough to give them the best version of yourself. Does that mean it's always easy? Nope! There are plenty of mornings that I would prefer to stay snuggled up with her on the couch (if you've watch my videos you know that is her usual post). But instead I get up and show her what dedication and commitment to myself looks like and she reads the benefits by having a momma with more energy and ability to play and go. Progress picture 4 weeks into the #1upnutritiontransformationchallenge .. Not exactly where I’d like to be right now, but have 4 weeks left to reach my end goal. I’ve been working out for years now, but my diet has always been up and down. I lost about 25 pounds when I first started lifting 5 years ago. I started to become too obsessed with the scale and started to look too skinny; so I decided to just start eating whatever I wanted again.
