I seem to have lost the ability to sleep and am currently existing on a diet of coffee, oats, and post-run endorphins. This morning's example: gentle 4 mile jog, followed by baked raspberry porridge, and a vat of milky coffee. I soaked my oats with almond milk, ground flax seeds, cinnamon, almond butter and raisins, then stirred through fresh raspberries and topped with coconut sugar, then baked for 25 minutes. Food Intolerances - The Truth ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's been trendy for a while to have some sort of food intolerance. Whilst I think the fact that people are paying more attention to what they eat is great, it's a bit of a wasted effort. I've been there, I remember in 2010 when I worked at coaching camps, my boss insisted on buying me this crappy gluten-free bread that basically broke apart as soon as you touched it. The reality was, I never had an intolerance at all... I was just trying to cut out bread to lose some fat! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As mocked by the picture, a food intolerance actually prevents you from absorbing nutrients properly. This isn't a good thing for fat loss, because you'll have low energy, feel bloated and have some inflammation... but it's not making you fat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The reason people make progress cutting out gluten and dairy is that when you think about what these foods are: Bread, Pasta, Cheese, Cream etc... it's all food that can be really high calorie, low nutrient and easy to overeat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Certainly aiming to eat less will help you, but cutting it all out may do you a disservice, as the other options aren't necessarily better and you may end up feeling deprived. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm going to expand upon this in a longer article later, so hit me up and I'll send it to you first. But for now, if you don't have any real intolerance, don't worry about eating some good ol' bread here and there. I recently became obsessed by sweat, when I learnt the performance benefit to be gained by not having your sweat turn to liquid on your skin. I first made the connection when riding in hot countries; the less clothes I’d wear, the more watts I’d gain. It’s why you’ll see me often riding out in a thin, mesh base layer (as see in photo). This journey into liquid sweat has led me here to California and a collaboration with @missionworkshop on their new PNG cycling kit that utilises a ground-breaking technology that goes way beyond traditional wicking fabric. I also love how endless the possibilities are for toppings too! 🥣🍌🍓🍐 . . CARBS on CARBS my friends! I love fueling my body with (proper) carbs in the morning in order to sustain enough energy throughout the day, and get through my workouts. Through a lot of trial and error I’ve realized that my body thrives off of carbs over fats ever since I had my gallbladder removed back in 2014 (but that’s another story🤭) Take some time to truly figure out what your body needs and the gains will follow💗 . . 👩🏻‍🍳Ingredients: - Organic Quick Oats (they cook faster) - Cashew Milk or Almond Milk - Organic Brown Sugar (optional) - Chia seeds (optional) - Strawberries, Blueberries or Raspberries - Dark Chocolate Chips - Peanut Butter . .
