Paddyfield pipit The paddyfield pipit or Oriental pipit (Anthus rufulus) is a small passerine bird in the pipit and wagtail family. It is a resident (non-migratory) breeder in open scrub, grassland and cultivation in southern Asia east to the Philippines. Although among the few breeding pipits in the Asian region, identification becomes difficult in winter when several other species migrate into the region. The taxonomy of the species is complex and has undergone considerable changes. #birdsofinstagram #nationalbird #natgeoyourshot #natgeo #natgeocreative #natgeoindia #bestbirds #bestbirdsofinstagram #bestbirdshots #discoveryourself #discovery #discoverytamil #animalplanet #bbcearth #yourclicks #wowtamilnadu #youpic #väsanthphotography #travelphotography @natgeoyourshot @natgeo @natgeoexpeditions @natgeowild @birds.nature @natgeotravel @bbcearth @discovery @indian_wildlifes @himalayanwildlife @wwf @_yasvanth_photography_official

BLACK DRONGO ... The black drongo (Dicrurus macrocercus) is a small Asian passerine bird of the drongo family Dicruridae. It is a common resident breeder in much of tropical southern Asia from southwest Iran through India and Sri Lanka east to southern China and Indonesia. It is a wholly black bird with a distinctive forked tail and measures 28 cm (11 in) in length. It feeds on insects, and is common in open agricultural areas and light forest throughout its range, perching conspicuously on a bare perch or along power or telephone lines. The species is known for its aggressive behaviour towards much larger birds, such as crows, never hesitating to dive-bomb any bird of prey that invades its territory. This behaviour earns it the informal name of king crow. Smaller birds often nest in the well-guarded vicinity of a nesting black drongo. Previously grouped along with the African fork-tailed drongo (Dicrurus adsimilis), the Asian forms are now treated as a separate species with several distinct populations. The black drongo has been introduced to some Pacific islands, where it has thrived and become abundant to the point of threatening and causing the extinction of native and endemic bird species there. #väsanthphotography #natgeoyourshot #natgeo #naturephotography #natgeoindia #birdsofinstagram #bestbirds #bestbirdsofinstagram #bestbirdshots #bbcearth #discoveryourself #discovery #wowtamilnadu #yourclicks #youpic #themangofolk #animalplanet @natgeoyourshot @natgeowild @natgeoindia @bbcearth @discovery @discoverychannelin @indian_wildlifes @himalayanwildlife @wowtamilnadu @wildwoyages @akhil.photos @varun.aditya @rathikaramasamy @prakash_sara @_yasvanth_photography_official @yourclicks_ @themangofolk
scaly-breasted munia🐦 The scaly-breasted munia or spotted munia(Lonchura punctulata), known in the pet trade as nutmeg mannikin or spice finch, is a sparrow-sized estrildid finch native to tropical Asia. A species of the genus Lonchura, it was formally described and named by Carl Linnaeus in 1758. Its name is based on the distinct scale-like feather markings on the breast and belly. The adult is brown above and has a dark conical bill. The species has 11 subspecies across their range and differ slightly in size and colour. This munia eats mainly grass seeds apart from berries and small insects. They forage in flocks and communicate with soft calls and whistles. The species is highly social and may sometimes roost with other species of munias. This species is found in tropical plains and grasslands. Breeding pairs construct dome-shaped nests using grass or bamboo leaves. The species is endemic to Asia and occurs from Indiaand Sri Lanka east to Indonesia and the Philippines (where it is called mayang pakíng). It has been introduced into many other parts of the world and feral populations have established in Puerto Rico and Hispaniola as well as parts of Australia and the United States of America. The bird is listed as of Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). #väsanthphotography #birds 🐦 #birdphotography #birdsofinstagram #natgeoyourshot #natgeo #bbcearth #animalplanet #discovery #bestbirds #bestbirdsofinstagram #bestbirdshots #wowtamilnadu #yourclicks #youpic @natgeoyourshot @natgeowild @birds.nature @bbcearth @discovery @indian_wildlifes @himalayanwildlife @wildwoyages @wowtamilnadu @yourclicks_ @_yasvanth_photography_official @youpic_wildlife
