We had some local heroes pop in to #CGHollySprings today!! Officer Jaza and Officer Bock were curious about what we were doing in the parking lot with our firehoses, mats and weights 💁🏼 They decided to join us for a little Strength & Agility!! They did the Firehose Run with pull, some TUT 3:1 weighted squats and some Firehose slams with burpees! Our CG Holly Springs athletes were very welcoming to them and enjoyed their company as well! This mobility exercise is awesome for runners. It can aid with plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon issues, shin splints, calf tightness, and tightness in the feet and toes. Technique Using 1 massage ball and 1 resistance band apply the resistance band at about 50% intensity and remove in 30-45 seconds or sooner if your foot/toes start to feel numb. Apply the band starting at the ankle and working towards the knee. Then in a standing position begin stretching the big toe against the ball in a knee drive position. Then put the plantar fascia on the ball and while you apply a downward pressure work your toes through flexion and extension. Then remove the floss and feel the blood start flowing! Disclaimer on Flossing: Do not use excessive compression. Remove immediately if distal limb is tingling, you experience any pain, loss of sensation or if the limb is turning a dusky/purple/pale color or feeling cold. Do not leave product on longer than 30-45 seconds per area or remove sooner if you begin to experience numbness. Do not wrap around neck. This mobility exercise is awesome for working through tightness in the glute muscle that can contribute to low back and hip issues. Technique Passive Release: Start by lying on 1 massage ball in the center of the glute which is called the piriformis muscle. Cross the leg over the opposite knee as you do small circles. Active Release: In the same position, this time work your hip through internal and external rotation as you drive pressure into the piriformis muscle. If there is not a lot of mobility of that hip, continue to do this release regularly looking for the range of motion to increase. This hamstring mobilization is great for hamstring tightness and enhancing recovery after exercise. Description Start by lying your hamstring on the center strip of the foam roller. Use your arms to raise your upper body off the ground, then with small rolls move your way from the knee up to the hip driving pressure onto the roller. Angle your leg in and work the inner thigh muscles and then turn the leg out to work the IT area. While visiting a good physiotherapist is usually ideal, there’s no reason you can’t be doing some highly effective work at home. These are all areas that most women have the most difficulties with. When it comes to wearing heels, work, home, even child birth. Here are four exercises to put to the test and to get you back to being amazing! This mobility exercise is great for working through tightness and restriction in the midback area, especially if you sit all day. Technique Place 2 massage balls together on the midback area. Place your hands together in prayer position directly above you. Take a breath and then slowly breathe out as you come into a crunch, driving pressure into the midback. Honey Sriracha Glazed Meatballs Serving Size: 5 meatballs Calories: 295 Fat: 10.8 g Carbs: 18.6 g Protein: 26.9 g Meatballs: 2 lb. lean ground turkey 1 cup whole wheat panko breadcrumbs 2 eggs ¼ cup green onions, chopped ½ tsp. garlic powder ½ tsp. salt ½ tsp. black pepper Sauce: ¼ cup Sriracha 3 Tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce 3 Tbsp rice vinegar 3 Tbsp honey 1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger 3 cloves garlic, minced ½ tsp. toasted sesame oil INSTRUCTIONS Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large bowl, mix together turkey, breadcrumbs, eggs, green onions, garlic powder and salt/pepper until well combined. Shape mixture into 1½-inch balls (you'll make roughly 40 balls) and place spaced apart on prepared baking sheets lightly sprayed with cooking spray. Bake meatballs for 20 to 25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. While the meatballs are baking, combine all the ingredients for the sauce in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking continuously. Reduce heat and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes (the sauce will start to thicken) then toss with the meatballs. Serve immediately over brown rice and top with green onions and a few sesame seeds. Kiasu: Chinese phrase "Afraid to lose" By this time most if us have given up on the journey of fitness or a healthier lifestyle. It's not because it's hard, or confusing, it's because we are scared. Scared to lose. To not succeed. We pay to much attention to the numbers on a scale, the calories burned during a workout, and the cost of what it's going to be to get there. A healthy lifestyle is just that, a LIFESTYLE! It's a choice to make better choices. The choices that are not easy to make. The choices that ate not popular with society. Things do not happen over night. You did not get that high paying job right away, you had to work for it. You didn't luck out and have a relationship that had no issues and lasted for 20, 30, 40 years, it took work. Just like your health will take work. Don't be afraid of what others will say when you are running down the street, or lifting 5lbs weights in the gym. Don't be afraid to let people see you work, because the difference between you and them is that you are improving yourself, while they are to scared to start. Hold your head up high because you are not afraid. Own your body, your mind, your soul. Did my 4th CG Fit Body Composition scan. My weight has gone down, I've been consistent with my skeletal muscle mass and really good with my percent body fat. Even over the holidays it wasn't as bad as I thought. 💪💪 Reducing carbs, increasing proteins and good fats is really doing my body good. This is on top of good gut health, Camp Gladiator workouts, my Fab 5 group of ladies who help inspire me, Jase being awesome and other positive changes. It's not a quick progression but dang this makes me happy. Doin' the work! WUT! WUT!
YALL! I’m so proud of myself! I’ve been to 8 camps since Monday 😍 Everyone knows I LOVE my sleep. CG has changed my life so much I’ve been getting up at 4am just so I can hit morning camp THEN go back at 6pm to hit an evening camp!
