Sorry for the delay I was traveling when challenged to post a travel image :) I take that challenge Michael Amrhein @chasewellphotos
to share a moment of motion of whilst traveling as part of the #Nikon100
I have always believed these two things about photography- first, that a still photograph is called a still photograph because the picture does not move. Not because the objects in the image are not in motion. The mission, should you decide to accept it is to capture motion with stillness. And second you don't take a picture the picture takes you.
I shot this image on my way back from visiting with Jay Maisel at his new studio in Brooklyn. I saw it coming, I set the camera at continuous high and the focus to follow focus. I focused on the Empire State building and prayed... I was lucky enough that my prayer was answered. The Empires State building, the line of the buildings in the foreground and the "V" of the bridge suspension all lined up perfectly whilst the train was moving and I captured the motion of the train moving (in the structures of the bridge) and the stillness of the buildings. Everything conspired in the moment to give me the image that was taking me.
RAW file conversion was done in Capture NXD then the Image was post processed in Photoshop CC black and white conversion was done using the Oz to Kansas SEP CORD approach with The NiK collection by DxO Silver EfexPro software.
