Our course is a series of workshops, care and attention to detail, and precision in learning the correct vinyasa system of Ashtanga Yoga mean that the student will progress quickly and develop a clear and enjoyable personal Yoga practice, bringing health to both body and mind. Those courses are open to everyone – the only requirement is a willingness to learn.
After completing this course students are well prepared to attend all our self practice Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga classes and they are ready to do 30 min long self yoga practice at home.

Beginners 6 week yoga course taught by Charlie Nash RYT200 yoga teacher.
This course will set you up for the year ahead and ease you into yoga, allowing you time to breathe, relax, stretch and unwind in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.
All equipment will be provided but suggested items to bring are comfortable clothing, a small bottle of water to sip when needed and a blanket or shawl for relaxation at the end of class.
This will be a small intimate class of only 6 students to give you ultimate support throughout the course.
The course is 6 weeks long with a 7th class offering which will be open only to students on the course. This is to allow all students a fair opportunity to attend 6 classes so if you have to miss a week you still have the opportunity to access 6 classes. If you have been able to attend all 6 classes then you are welcome to attend the 7th class at a discounted one off fee of £5.
Exchange: 6 weeks course £48 - To secure your space before Christmas you can pay in full or pay a £10 non refundable deposit and pay the balance in the New Year.

I’ve been working on this program for a while and keep fine-tuning it every year. I love my ‘job’ of teaching yoga and coaching, but there is nothing more enriching than a deeper training and immersion studies. People come from all over the world, and before you know it, we have aligned goals and are sharing experiences and simply growing together. In a world where you can be anything, choosing to be a better person, choosing to help others, is a wonderful selection. Although I’m the facilitator, I leave this experience more inspired and complete. And I am simply grateful to have the opportunity to offer this incredibly rich and transformational knowledge of yoga, meditation and Ayurveda, to others.

We've redesigned our Beginners' courses for 2019 and in the process have enjoyed going back to basics and re-discovering some of the fundamental principles of our practice. We will be sharing some of our favourites with you over the next few weeks.
1. It's not a competition!
The Yoga Sutras define yoga postures as ‘Sthira Sukham Asanam’ – which literally means a steady, comfortable seat. So the poses should be sustainable, steady, yet also comfortable. Finding the balance between these two qualities can be an ongoing challenge and relevant to even the most experienced students.
Likewise, in the age of Instagram yoga, it’s easy to focus on the idea that a yoga pose should look a certain way or that in order to 'do' a pose, you should be practising the fullest expression of it. This couldn't be further from the truth and a pose will look and feel different in every body - so comparing yourself to others in a class or those you see on Instagram is a waste of time. Instead we encourage you to remain present, aware and really feel the pose - who cares what it looks like!
Our new beginners course includes a written manual and weekly videos to guide you through your home practice sessions. Aimed at beginners but also, as we have discovered ourselves, great to refresh even the most experienced yogi. .

This course is designed to teach the fundamental basics of healthy alignment in yoga postures. It is aimed for absolute beginners to Yoga or to anyone that feels unsure on safe and effective alignment and variations when practicing yoga.
The course is over 4 weeks, 2 sessions per week. Each session will build on the first and slowly cover the core foundational yoga poses. Basic Yoga props will be used in each session allowing students to feel the support that props offer and the safety that they bring. The course is taught by Kathleen Booyse and assisted by Néna Butler, assuring personal attention to each student and effective assisting for optimal learning.

All kidding aside, we get many questions about Hot Yoga, both risks and benefits. There are benefits to heat, especially in the process of healing an injury. Heat can be used to relax the body and increase circulation. It can also be used to block pain receptors in the nervous system, reducing noxious input for therapeutic heating. Obviously heat makes the body lose water and there is evidence that heat can improve the quality of the skin. Much of the research about heat therapy involves specific time intervals under controlled temperatures •
• There are also dangers with hot yoga. Remember that exercising in high heat is another stress to the body. If one decides to perform yoga in high heat, knowing that pain receptors can become inhibited, there is a greater risk of moving into protective ranges. It is important to intentionally limit joint ranges when in high heat, since we may not have the necessary indicators that we are damaging connective tissue. Ligaments are not designed to stretch and violating joint ranges can cause muscle weakness as the body attempts to protect itself. Muscles are not able to contract as efficiently when the body is prioritizing thermoregulation
• Exercising in a hot room can also throw off our body’s internal temperature, which can cause dehydration, and - in extreme cases - lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke. It is important to hydrate before, during, and after a hot yoga class, making sure not to practice on an empty stomach. We always tell our students that the central nervous system will do whatever it can to keep us from harm. When we add a new stress to our practice, we may need to modify something else. Be smart

The five day Hatha Yoga course in the Tri-Bikram Yoga Retreat is designed to open up the world of Hatha Yoga for the students. For newcomers into the world of Yoga and also for advanced practitioners, this course is a way for learning, as well as for advancing their existing skills. Being an introductory course, personalized care is taken for each participant to allow them to pick up the postures and methods gradually.
