It’s a funny thing, the way our minds work.
This morning I was feeling pretty tired & just blah, and not in the mood to do much of anything, including get on my yoga mat...
I already had all the excuses lined up... #tootired #toomuchtodo #needabreak
But deep down I knew how much better I’d feel if I just gave my body a few small stretches to wake up.
So I told myself “OK, just 15 minutes of gentle stretching, and that’s it!’ ⏱
Well those 15 minutes turned into 30. And the next thing I know, it’s an hour later, and I just want to keep bending & twisting, and going upside down. 🙃
I felt so much better in every way - my mind was relaxed & focused, my body was lighter & more open, and my mood was happier & calmer. #yogahigh
I guess my point is, if you’re ever having ‘one of those days’, you don’t have to force yourself to do anything, but try to squeeze in just a few gentle stretches. Even pausing for a few deep breaths or a long Child’s Pose will instantly make you feel better.
BUT, if you find yourself wanting more after that, don’t be too surprised... 😉❤️

Facebook reminded me that this was me dancing in NYC ten years ago.
I miss dancing like an eagle would miss flying but am grateful for the great friends, experiences, and travels.
Thank you wonderful souls who made it possible and worthwhile.

is truly a magnificent place. Here, my mind was opened to all the possibilities we have to become more grounded and centered with the earth 🌏 and within ourselves. This constant transfer of energy that we can emit and receive 💫 “Namaste” came to life for me here. If your not familiar with what I mean.... "I honor the place in you where the entire Universe Dwells . I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Truth, of Light, and of Peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, We are One." 🕉 🙏🏽

A few months ago, I injured my thigh muscle quite severely. I could not sit cross-legged without experiencing pain. After doing scans and therapy, the doctors could not detect anything amiss. It took me many months of reconditioning my mind and body to slowly regain flexibility. Through this experience, it occurred to me that our mind has the tendency to protect us by sending out pain signals based on previous experience, even though there was no longer any risk of getting hurt! In the face of danger, this impulse would be a great for survival. However, in our day to day lives, this could prevent us from taking that one leap of faith...and achieving what we thought was impossible.

Here are five breathing techniques Ive learnt in yoga teacher training so far
1 conscious deep breaths, focusing on breath traveling down to navel and back up through nose, used to start and put breath into natural rhythm between other techniques
2 very deep breath in and then fast in and out, in class started with 20 counts (in and outs) and then 30, 40, 50, this made me feel dizzy the first time but now Ive done it three days and am comfortable
3 alternate breathing, using the vishnu mudra (pointer and middle fingers down) start with a deep exhale, inhale through left, exhale right, inhale right, exhale left and continue, used to balance your solar and lunar energies
4 in through tongue tube, out through nose, used to cool throat and chest
5 ujjayi breath used to heat up the body, deep nose breaths, hissing/ocean sound in the back of the throat, used in ashtanga vinyasa to bring awareness and warmth to the body
The end! Pranayama and meditation class are difficult for me right now but Im learning to be patient and still. These are two traits I want to practice more in life
I have no shame in expressing when I am really hating my yoga practice; I’ve talked about it a million times. How it can be hard and frustrating and time consuming and and and...
But if it wasn’t something so important, so special, so essential to my well being I wouldn’t have such a strong emotion toward it either way.
There would be no hatred nor love. There would be no frustration or happiness. There would be no guilt or pleasure. I would simply be able to walk away from it—- but that little tug that always keeps me practicing.
I know many people who have tried to quit and come back because of that nagging in the back of their head and maybe more importantly in their heart. If you can find something better to do for your body and your soul and your life all
In one practice please tell me...
And for any of you who have been successful in quitting tell me how you did it. I’d sincerely like to know... maybe I can finally walk away somehow transcended from the earthly physical practice that penetrates into every part of my being even when I don’t want it to. Why does yoga work on the emotional and the mental and the spiritual all in one physical practice. Why and how?
And it’s work. A real inner working that makes you wrestle with all your demons.
Fight or flight?
We are not quitters
And for the problems of injuries I have an answer to that as well I’ll maybe save for my next post. Let’s face it. This is what we do. This is our karma. Why fight it ? Why flight it ?

Dreams that have not been realized are just that, dreams. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Dreams are often more beautiful in one's mind than in reality.
Today's focus is on handstand drills, specifically, body control through hips and core movement. The movement goes from L-handstand to straight handstand before switching to the other side. Ideally, the torso and spine remains relatively straight throughout the entire sequence with some hip movement. In this example, I was getting tired in the second half of the sequence and ended up arching my back to maintain the arm balance. Use of a wall is recommended until one is comfortable to hold and move in a handstand! You can see that there are times where my foot reaches for the wall as I fight to maintain inverted. The most important part of the drill is the negative that brings you back onto your feet. The more control and the slower you can bring the legs down, the better.

Started the day with lots of water. Hatha yoga is our first class. Today we did 3 sun salutations on each side then seated forward fold to plough with our feet on our hands. Then chair pose to rolling our spine and back to chair. Then L shape lifts using blocks and stepping backwards into planks and back. We finished with downward dog to tuck handstands. 💪 Next class is Pranayama! Continued on next post ⚡️

Um diese Pose auszuführen benötigt man starke Handgelenke und eine stabile Wurzelkraft. Unser Core (Körperkern) muss gut ausgebildet sein bei solchen Asanas.
Daher baue ich in meinen Unterricht stets Übungen für die Mitte ein.
Eine starke Bauch-und Becken Bodenmuskulatur ist essenziell. Das muladhara chakra ist unser Wurzelchakra, es hilft uns innerlich stabil zu bleiben.
Es war ein tolles Gefühl zwischen dem festen und dem frei schwebenden Felsen auszubalancieren und die Beine in die Höhe auszu strecken. Könnte ich meiner Wurzel nicht so vertrauen hätte ich nicht den Mut mich über dem Abgrund so auszubalancieren. Aber für das Foto habe ich das „Risiko“ auf mich genommen. 😉
Ich habe nie Zweifel gehabt, dass es gefährlich sein könnte. Kennst du das Gefühl, absolut erhaben zu sein, auch wenn man weiß das man abstürzen könnte? Ein Privatschüler von mir, sagt zu mir immer, Stephan, ich bewundere deinen Mut deinen Unternehmergeist. „Du bleibst nie stehen und versuchst immer weiter zu gehen und dich weiter zu entwickeln. Diesen Mut habe ich nicht!“ Das ist ein großes Kompliment für mich, denn er ist beruflich absolut erfolgreich und für mich dort, was ich „angekommen“ nenne.
Besinne dich immer auf deine eigene Stärke und wisse immer woher es kommt und es kann dir nie etwas geschehen!

Part of that is seeing ourselves through his vision of us and wow this perspective is full of strong , unconditional love towards us . Till we are able to feel and understand the same love for ourselves as he does for us can we truly fully reach our potential and serve completely.
