Days 20-23 of the 28 Day Yoga Foundations Course with Dr. Dava Nichol. Day 2️⃣0️⃣ is MUDRAS ➡️ WOW, I’m blown away by this whole course’s topics coverage ! It’s not everyday someone talks about Mudras either and Dr. Nichol includes it here.. yay! Mudras and Bilateral Stimulation; Applying ancient practice to science and to modern yoga, and vice versa... way 🆒! My favorite mudras, I have two, are Lotus Mudra and Salutation Seal Mudra 🙏 Day 2️⃣1️⃣ is MEDITATION - wow, this is GREAT stuff and a real treat! I am practicing this first thing in the morning, before breakfast. I find myself very emotional - all good - once I get to the 4th session which is the Gratitude Meditation Technique. With my eyes closed and hands on Lotus Mudra, images of people start surfacing: like that of a person who I have the most love and gratitude for; of one I haven’t seen for a while; of that complete stranger, sitting next to me in the plane last month. and revealing to me that she is getting treated for brain tumor (and John Maccain died just the day before, too), or of that person I struggle to give my love and gratitude to 😭... ‘Am now in tears! Great, great session! ❤️ Day 2️⃣2️⃣ is YOGA FOR GROUNDING ➡️ Practicing an excellent yoga flow and ‘am really appreciating how much I can now enjoy the goal-post-hands ➖looks simple but my stubborn shoulders find them tough. Day 2️⃣3️⃣ is YOGA FOR PLAYFULNESS ➡️ Choosing this sweet (yummy) prone twist, with hip and thoracic rotation. This picture evokes the feeling of calmness in me. I like the standing balances to calm myself down completely 🙏. I mentioned it few times on my Instagram, I'm an owl person 💤. There is maybe just one thing that gets me out of bed early - sunrise at the beach 🌅! Whenever I'm on vacation at the seaside, I wake up early and take a morning walk with my feet in salty water. Dün ekinoks etkinliğimizden gelen bu fotoğrafı görünce nedense duygulandım biraz. Yogaya yeni başladığım zaman aşağı bakan köpek en zorlandığım pozlardan biriydi. 33 yaşında, hayatı boyunca neredeyse hiç spor yapmamış biri olarak arka bacak kaslarım çok gergin olduğundan topuklarım yere değmez, zayıf el bileklerim vücudumun ağırlığını taşıyamadığından ağrır, tüm vücudum zangır zangır titrerdi. Dersine girdiğim değişik hocalardan "Şimdi aşağı bakan köpekte dinlenip rahatlıyoruz." cümlesini duyardım sık sık. Bu cümleyi her duyduğumda içimden düdüklü tencerenin kapağını patlatacak kadar güçlü bir öfke yükselir, kulaklarımdan çıkardı. Acı içindeki titrek bedenim dinlenmekten, rahatlamaktan çok ama çok uzaktı bu pozda. Yıllar geçtikçe yoganın rahatsız anlar içinde kendine nefes alacak alanlar yaratmaya yaradığını öğrenecektim; sadece matın üzerinde değil, hayatta da. Bu fotoğrafa bakıp arka arkaya 108 aşağı bakan köpek yaptığımı fark edince bir garip hissettim kendimi. Yogada bir deyiş vardır; sen pratiğini yap, gerisi geliyor diye. Bu fotoğrafa bakınca bu sözü çok daha iyi anlıyorum. Yoga deyince insanların kafasında çok değişik şeyler canlanıyor, bir takım kriterler oluşuyor. Yoga yapmak için belirli bir yaşta, kiloda, esneklikte olmaya gerçekten gerek yok. Herkes yogayı kendi oluşuna göre deneyimleyecektir. Hope you’re all having a rejuvenating sunday✨whatever that looks like for you - restful, productive, fun ⠀ Inversions are some of the most rejuvenating poses in my practice. Not always restful (though thats definitely the goal) I always feel energized after practicing headstands or handstands ⠀ Inversions are great for improving circulation and blood flood to the brain (and skin), improving digestion, and providing mental clarity⚡️ ⠀ AND you don’t have to do anything crazy to get the benefits, even downward dog (where your head is below your heart) is giving you the benefits of inverting👌🏼

I tried both forearm and regular and I was surprised by how easily I could hold them both parallel to the ground! 😱 I used to struggle sooo much with holding the regular plank, even with my feet more elevated! There’s too much importance placed on the material things or the stages in life that we are at, or rather ‘supposed’ to be at. If the Earth can teach us anything, it’s the importance of changing and evolving. The seasons, the sun and the moon and the weather are prime examples of impermanence. The more we hold on to one single idea of who we are, the harder we make our journey. Rather, let the flow of life take you in directions you never imagined. Each time we choose to rise up with courage and strength, we find a new level of awareness- a pull that stops us from going back to that place of comfort...And I find that pretty damn beautiful #sundaymotivation #riseabove
