Daisies(Michelin Star bib) is located in Logan square next to Taste of Havana. Reservations were full but I decided to go anyway to try to get a seat at the bar. Sure enough I was put on the list and text 20mins later when our seats were ready.
The bar area seats about 8 people I think. We were greeted by a few friendly bartenders that chatted with use for a bit while they made our awesome cocktails(get the pumpkin mezcal). For our app, we ordered the tempura mushrooms and cheese curds($11). The sauce you see is tarragon buttermilk. The cheese curds were crispy and gooey(see insta story) and perfectly cooked without any trace of grease at all. A great starter dish.
The next course is the pasta dish call Tajarin truffles with brown butter sage and parmesan. This dish is $30 with half of it being the price of the truffles. The truffles here sells for $4 a gram so there’s about 4 grams on here. This is a great dish if you can get a bite of truffle, pasta and parmesan all into one bite. The problem we had was the truffle clumped together with the big chunk parmesan so it was distribute unevenly. Perhaps a finer shaved parmesan and truffle? I also wasn’t a fan of the pasta. It’s exactly like slippery ramen noodles. It didn’t have that doughy chew texture I was looking for.
The final dish is polenta braised lamb($29). A fantastic hearty dish. The lamb was cooked perfectly with great flavors but the polenta was my favorite part of the dish. 2 entrees, 1 app and 5 cocktails total bill $133.
