The hindu calendar brings in the new year for every one almost at the same time. This time I decided to go in for #MFFBIHUEVENT
to bring in the Assamese new year. Our very own Chef @kashmirinath
, hosted the Assamese food fest at @mustardrestaurants
coinciding with Bohug Bihu. Some of us decided to dress up, keeping in mind the tradition of Assam.
To start off it was a group of 14, all hard-core foodies. Kashmiri was there to take us through the entire meal and prep us for things to come. Loved the Thekera sherbet, a coolant which was perfect for this weather. A platter of Luci Aloo Bhaji aur Ambol was the perfect start to our meal.
The small platter of mildly herbed Barbequed Pork, fish wrapped in banana leaf and steamed, Green moong fritters, no cook rice salad gave us a small preview of what was to come next.
Needed a break after all this, the meal was spaced out well so did not feel overfed.
Kashmiri had planned out a veg and a non-veg thali which was well-balanced with mustard greens, a must in every Assamese house. Pork, chicken, Mutton and the black gram dal with elephant apple and steamed joha rice completed the meal.
After a sumptuous meal, a dessert platter was served. The Black Rice pudding was to die for, creamy and perfect crunch... Til Pitha is my all time favourite so gorged on it. To end the meal, we were served a spoonful of puffed sticky rice with yoghurt and jaggery. All in all, it was a perfect meal with good company. Moreover, it looked as though we had hijacked the place to ourselves....a boisterous and happy lot we were
