First year AGPCNP student Christa Roe recently presented her research at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s first International Clinical Trial Workshop in Morocco: “In the plenary session for both physicians and nurses, I presented on clinical trial ethics and good clinical practice. The importance of my presentation was to teach about the 7 ethical principles of clinical trials, and how it protects the patients participating in research. I also highlighted the importance of cultural humility, and patient centered care.
In our nursing workshop, I presented on the basics of clinical trials, clinical trial protocols, and informed consent. In addition, the nurses from Morocco presented to us. This was a collaborative workshop, and we learned just as much from them, as they did from us.
Part of our role was to advocate that that clinical research roles involve direct patient care from the nurse. Just as with other disciplines, clinical research offers nurses significant opportunity to impact the lives of patients for the better, while developing innovative solutions that can saves lives not only today, but for years to come.” #morocco #rabat #asco #clinicalresearch #yalenursing #yale #nurseresearcher
