“My brothers and I carried this basket from Myanmar with some food items. All the food was gone even before we crossed the border.” - Inayat-Ullah, 10 :camera_with_flash:: Ahmer Khan/Amnesty International #Rohingya #refugees #photography #story #immigration #Bangladesh #Myanmar #Snapshot #Exposure #Moment #InstaGood #InstaPhoto #PicOfTheDay #photooftheday
“I have this nose pin which I have been wearing for years and this is the only thing I could carry with me when I fled my village in Myanmar on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr in 2017.” - Maryam Khatoon, 30 :camera_with_flash:: Ahmer Khan/Amnesty International #Rohingya #refugees #photography #story #immigration #Bangladesh #Myanmar #Snapshot #Exposure #Moment #InstaGood #InstaPhoto #PicOfTheDay #PhotoOfTheDay
“My wife is blind and was sick when we were forced to abandon our villages. I wrapped my wife in this blanket and carried her all the way to Bangladesh. This is all I could bring with me from Myanmar.” - Mosi-Ullah, 60 :camera_with_flash:: Ahmer Khan/Amnesty International #Rohingya #refugees #photography #story #immigration #Bangladesh #Myanmar #Snapshot #Exposure #Moment #InstaGood #InstaPhoto #PicOfTheDay #photooftheday
“It took us 21 days to reach Bangladesh. We stayed inside a cave in a forest for many days. I carried this basket because I made it myself when I was in my village Samela. The Myanmar military killed so many people there, burnt down our villages, so we had to run away to save our lives. In this basket, I had some clothes but I couldn’t save my identity cards, photos and other documents. I don’t know what will happen to us now.” - Musa Ali, 70 📸: Ahmer Khan/Amnesty International #Rohingya #refugees #photography #story #immigration #Bangladesh #Myanmar #Snapshot #Exposure #Moment #InstaGood #InstaPhoto #PicOfTheDay #PhotoOfTheDay
“I carried a couple of books with me because I want to read and write no matter where I am. I saw my village put on fire. It was painful but now we are safe. I study in a school in the camp.” - Mohammad Junaid, 11 The Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh have yet to come to terms with the trauma they had experienced in Myanmar. This week, we’ll share photos from Ahmer Khan’s visit to Cox’s Bazar to document in photographs the Rohingya people with what they held dearest to them during their troubled escape from home. 📸: Ahmer Khan/Amnesty International #Rohingya #refugees #photography #story #immigration #Bangladesh #Myanmar #Snapshot #Exposure #Moment #InstaGood #InstaPhoto #PicOfTheDay #PhotoOfTheDay

No human being is illegal. Today we visited a shelter called Casa Del Migrante where asylum seekers are waiting to get called to the border to claim asylum in the US. This illustration was in the rec room. #nohumanisillegal #asylum #refugees #unitedstates #mexico #human #humanrights #takeaction
This week, we have a delegation of our senior leadership visiting the US/Mexico border to observe the situation and to see the human rights of asylum seekers are being upheld. Last night, our delegation joined partners @NIJC , @AlOtroLado_Org , and @TransLawCenter in accompanying three LGBT minors fleeing violence and persecution in Central America. Our observations confirm reports that Mexican authorities are cooperating with the US to dissuade people from asking for asylum. We have seen the lengths Mexico and the US will take to violate the human rights of people, including children, desperately seeking safety. Head to our Instagram story for more info. #trump #mexico #asylum #refugees #usa #humanrights #nobannowall #resist #takeaction
Today was your daily reminder that we still have a lot of work to do to stop the border wall funding. The America we believe in does not turn its back on refugees and asylum seekers. Tell your Senator to say no to the border wall. 1-844-305-9050 #TrumpAddress #Resist #Trump #Shutdown #TakeAction
President Trump will continue to spin his fake news and hateful rhetoric while visiting the US/Mexico border but Americans know the truth. Tell your Senator to say no to the border wall. 1-844-305-9050 #TrumpShutdown #activism #humanrights #takeaction #resist #Trump
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” -Martin Luther King, Jr. How are you honoring Dr. King's legacy in your activism and human rights work? #MLKDay
