⏱ The Power of Now ⏱
The best way to deal with angst is to work. Existential angst is no different in this regard. A professor of mine used to say our relation to one another in life is analogous to us all being on a raging river in individual canoes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our circumstances are the same, we are all on the same river. All pointing in different directions, all feeling the current a bit differently. Each of us able to see the predicament the other is in, yet incapable of lending much support other than a momentary nudge.
So what are we to do? Alone on a river who’s current we can’t control? The one thing we can: paddle. You see, you’re never really in control, so if you wait for the current to slow you may never get your chance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your friends and family, although they may care for you, literally cannot do it for you. Paddling doesn’t guarantee your safety, your success, your flourishing, yet it’s your only choice.
This moment is all you have. The past and future do not belong to you. The present seems to be yours, but even that is illusory. Each second fleeting faster than the last. Your only hope at keeping up is to get to work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
