Dingle Elementary School visits our Wheat Lab. . . . We had four stations: 1. Grain Cleaning & Milling Room where Teng Vang was the teacher. 2. Dough making, fermentation, and tortilla making Room where Isabel, Crystal, and our UC Food Science Intern Ana helped. 3. The Alveograph and Gluten Room, Alejandra was the teacher. 4. Today we welcomed 24 Elementary School kids at our Wheat Lab to learn a lot more about grain milling, flour quality, pasta, bread, and tortilla making. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒฏ๐Ÿฅช . . . And, everything was processed with the grain they harvested last week from their school garden #Patwin variety. Did they enjoy it? ABSOLUTELY! Wheat Harvest at Dingle Elementary School garden Part 2. Kids learned from Allison Krill-Brown from UCDavis @akrillbrown about the harvest process. . . . The grain we harvested, about 50 lbs of grain, is now getting ready to be milled at our Wheat Lab. . . . Next Tuesday, the kids will have a field day at our Lab and learn how to make flour and test for quality. Finally, they will make bread, tortillas, and pasta. ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŒฏ๐Ÿ

They experienced to harvest wheat by hand and threshing and blowing it to get the grain kernels ready for miling. . . .
