We're very excited to have stage 20th of the 2019 @giroditalia zigzag through our backyard. The route travels over the Cima Campo, Passo Manghen and Rolle before a final haul up on the Passo Croce d’Aune, our all-time favorite lunchtime climb just down the road from our HQ. . Most of the Castelli internal proto-testing is happening on these roads. Slide through a few pics from our rides and last time the Giro came over the Manghen and Croce d'Aune. . The Croce d’Aune is a beautiful climb. Peaking at 1,015 meters, it certainly isn’t the longest climb in the world, yet it inspired Tullio Campagnolo in November 1927 to invent the quick release skewer that would revolutionize cycling. . In freezing conditions, his hands were so numb from the cold that he couldn't loosen up the hub wing nuts to disengage the wheel and shift to an easier gear. Then and there, Campagnolo had a stroke of genius: he would redesign the nut's lever to make the release more straightforward. . . . #passocrocedaune #giroditalia #CastelliCycling #sportfuldolomitirace #campagnolocrocedaune
