I am completely gobsmacked by this event. I set the DVR and then woke up at 6am to watch the wedding. I didn’t follow all of the hoopla leading up to it, but I knew it would be the last Royal wedding for at least 2 decades so I wanted to watch. My mom woke me up to watch Charles & Diana get married in the 80’s so there was some nostalgia for me, especially having two British parents. NOTHING could have prepared me for how utterly MODERN this wedding was. I watched with my mouth agape, practically jumping with glee at how they brought her world, their world, a modern world into a very, very traditional event. Just this image of them holding hands! They are in it TOGETHER, she is not an “other” in this union, even she’s unlike any other princess the UK has ever seen. I am thrilled my daughter watched it with us so she could see a fairytale wedding in a real way, and a thoroughly current prince and princess. I’m rooting hard for these two. Hooray the the Duke and Duchess of Sussex! (And duh, gorgeous makeup by @danielmartin
and stunning hair by @sergenormant
And so she will live here, I can’t risk changing the perfection of this shadow......
Does anyone know if you can reconstitute a baked shadow with the rubbing alcohol trick? Or will the finish be different? 🙁 I refuse to throw this color away because A: it’s perfect and B: because a client smuggled it in from Canada 🇨🇦 for me.
iPhone, you take the prettiest pictures.....I found these flowers on the rooftop we’re shootings on, I have no idea how they got up here. There really is beauty everywhere.
Client: We’d like a red lip.
🚨W A R N I N G🚨 makeup artist blathering about to happen. You probably won’t care about a word of it unless you’re a makeup artist so feel free to change the channel 📺.....I cannot express the importance of having a huge range of foundations & concealers in your kit. (This is just a sampling of what I carry with me daily. There are dozens more liquids and creams in various consistencies and formulations). I am so fortune to have cut my teeth as a baby makeup artist working with clients like Delia’s and Target who always had a great range of diversity with their models. On those jobs I got to work with so many different skin tones and ethnicities that I really learned how to do skin on anyone who sat in my chair, and that’s something I take great pride in. But let me tell you something, you are NOT going to find those shades in Sephora. You need to go to a theatrical makeup store and buy colors that you can mix in, colors that they just don’t sell in commercial environments. Brands like Joe Blasco and Ben Nye are where you want to focus your attention, they’ll have the shades I’m referring to. You need bright oranges, deep olive greens, pale muted yellows, ochres, deep neutral browns to name a few (not those BS pastel color corrector shades. Those things make me furious, what a waste of money). Have these on hand to create custom shades for anyone who sits in your chair. An East Indian woman is going to go orange if you don’t add in a deep olive green. A fair skinned Asian woman may need a good dose of ochre so the foundation doesn’t go too pink on her skin. I don’t care if you’ve never done makeup on a person of color, have these shades in your kit so you can properly execute a look on anyone. You don’t want to be that person who has to look at the person in your chair and say you don’t have their shade. Be an artist and make what doesn’t exist. Play with color and figure it out. These are things I’ve learned over my 20+ years doing makeup and I can’t think of one damn reason to keep these tricks to myself. Oh yeah, and don’t believe everything you see on YouTube.....Class dismissed.
🌸Pink pink and more pink🌸 The day of @surrattbeauty
Lid Lacquer continues (thank god my job today was perfectly suited to this product so I could play with it allllll dayyyyyy longggg) with @evajroberts.
I mixed the Kira Kira lid lacquer with a dirty lilac pink gloss from @Lanc
ôme. Cheeks are @kosas
8th Muse (my favorite cream blush which you can get on @shopreedclarke
😛) and the lips are her own with an ample helping of @lanolips
(ahem, which you can ALSO get on Reed Clarke). Such a fun day with these exceptional beauties. #bts #fionastiles
All kinds of glossy on @shreya.chaudhary.
The perfect highlighter shade courtesy of @lauramercier
from a contour palette and unhelpfully named “Highlight #2
” 😶. The lids are @surrattbeauty #lidlacquer
in Kohgecha. Lips are some random gloss in my gloss bag that has no name on it and now I’m obsessing/spiraling because I’ll never be able to replace it and it’s the worlds most perfect color. 😢(Hoarder fear setting in.) #bts #fionastiles
