Tolla Inbar was born in Germany in 1958. Concentrating her studies in ceramic and sculpture before emigrating to Israel, she focused her studies in Tel Aviv on psychology and sociology. These studies greatly influenced her figurative, semi-abstract forms composed by the ancient method of bronze casting. Within her inanimate pieces, one is able to find movement that is extraordinarily sentient and present. Utilizing symbolic props, such as stairs and ladders, her pieces are a tangible metaphor for the individual path we each take to fulfill our ambitions. Galerie d’Orsay is proud to represent Tolla! ••• Pictured Above: Circle of Life (2017), photographed by Ben Flythe ••• #sculpture #bronzecasting #tollainbar #galeriedorsay #artgallery #bostonarts #fineartboston #contemporaryart #newburystreet #germanartist #israeliartist

Born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1926, Stanley Boxer was a true practitioner of media trough painting, printmaking, drawing and sculpture. Following his services in the US Navy, he held his first exhibition through the Art Students League funded by the GI Bill. It was during his debut that he was categorized as a “color-field painter”, a term of which he abhorred and rejected though-out his life. Innovative through his primal sensitivity to texture, he called himself “visionless”. He allowed the past to shape his creations, but he never allowed himself to shape the future. “I go where my preceding art takes me, and never try to redirect the future as to what my art should look like”. To Boxer, little gestures form a complete entity, organic compositions akin to observing a cell beneath a microscope. Galerie d’Orsay is proud to give home to several of Boxer’s work. SOLD🔴 Sally Garden by Elizabeth DaCosta Ahern ••• Ahern seeks to capture the essence of nature through her use of color and light. As she stated about her passion, “I paint to embrace the essence of a moment, a memory, a recollection of the ephemeral aspects of nature, music, poetry, and culture”. An admired staple of Galerie d’Orsay, Ahern wears many hats as a painter, a printmaker, and art instructor. She utilized a distinctive technique of “soak-staining”, in which she rests her canvases flat and pours layer upon layers of water based paints. The results are brilliantly saturated hues upon raw canvas. She has lectured in over ten schools, exhibited her work internationally, and is housed in several corporate and private collections. She studied alongside Helen Frankenthaler during her time in New Mexico, and completed her studies in Boston. Galerie d’Orsay is proud to house the works of this brilliant artist! We are loving these Matisse jazz pieces hanging behind our gallery window! Galerie d’Orsay is so proud to have these limited and rare prints in our art space! A little about the suite —> Upon being diagnosed with abdominal cancer at the age of 74, Henri Matisse became limited in his mobility. So much so, that it left him unable to paint or sculpt. With the aid of his assistants, he used hand-colored pochoir to compose decoupage made of “cut-outs”. Published by French art publication Verve in 1947, each of the 20 prints, in an edition of only 250, were accompanied with a hand-written note expressing his thought process behind the suite. And so, “Jazz” was born, named for its improvisational nature, which covers subject matter from metaphors to memories. #OnThisDay We celebrate the birthday of Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn in 1606 in the Netherlands!🎂The innovative and prolific draughtsman, painter and printmaker is perhaps considered one of the greatest visual artists of all time, and dominated the Dutch golden age through his use of light and shadow. The Dutchman produced etchings from 1626 to 1660, with the subject matter ranging from himself, to religious subjects, to landscapes. Pictured above is his self-portrait, leaning on a stone sill in 1639. Galerie d’Orsay is proud to give a home to his pieces. What’s your favorite piece by Rembrandt?
