has a ‘missing man table’ set for the soldier who sacrificed life for service. Y’all it triggered the ugly cry, another level of respect and a huge I MISS YOU DADDY cry. While my dad may not have lost is physical life in combat he lost a part of who he was and we only got to experience a portion of his potential. It’s moments like this that God reminds me that nothing is lost in His eyes. 😭🙏🏽🙌🏾
Each year that passes since my dad left this earth I’ve found a new reason to honor the man he could’ve been and in that process I’ve been able to heal the broken hearted little girl and become a stronger woman.

You know what’s so beautiful about this season/chapter/stage of life? I probably don’t know you, yet. But God has created these pockets of opportunity for me to get to know you. For each one of us to get to know each other in ways we can’t even think or imagine. It’s not even limited to or about getting to know the one who’s story is identical; in fact it’s more likely leaning towards the one who’s story is the total opposite of yours. Cuz that’s just the way He works. ⚔️
This week at instructor training retreat I intentionally asked the Holy Spirit to help me keep my eyes open to the goodness He’s doing. You know what His response was? He told me only I could do it. I had the choice to see it, to ignore it, to write it off as ordinary, familiar, offensive, competition, not for me, etc. He told me to make up my mind about what I considered *His goodness* and from that space in my heart I’d see. 🗣
Colossians 3 tells us to set our minds (stay focused) on things above, this perspective shift allows us to see what’s happening in front of us with fresh eyes. Go read it. I really never would’ve imagined; especially considering the way God has been flipping my life upside down and inside out. I. Never. Would’ve. Imagined. But then, His thoughts are higher... He is the only one capable of going around every corner of my life to gather up all of the pieces I thought were a huge waste of time and energy and use them to shift me into this divine place of order, humility, mercy, grace, wisdom, surrender and strength.
I’ve watched Him this week answer bold prayers, respond to unspoken requests, heal broken hearts and bodies and reconfirm who He is based on His character not just His hand.
His faithfulness has me overwhelmed.
His goodness has me grounded.
His love has me rooted.
His plan has me established.
He is who He says He is and He has been recognized for the immeasurably more than we could ever ask or think.
As Christ-followers, we are called to be long-haul neighbors committed to authenticity and willing to take some risks. Our vocation is to invest deeply in the lives of those around us, devoted to one another, physically close to each other as we breathe the same air and walk the same blocks. Our purpose is not so mysterious after all. We get to love and be deeply loved right where we’re planted, by whomever happens to be near. We will inevitably encounter brokenness we cannot fix, solve, or understand, and we’ll feel as small, uncertain, and outpaced as we have ever felt. But we’ll find our very lives in this calling, to be among people as Jesus was, and it will change everything.
The details will look quiet and ordinary.
They will exhaust and exhilarate us.
But it will be the most worth-it adventure we will ever take.

The name of this picture is “empty road with trees and cloudy skies ”. For some reason the photo & the name struck me in my gut. I’ve been doing some further study about my word for the year 📍SURRENDER 📍and God has been faithful to show me what I want to see if I ask Him. (Matthew 7) I’ve tried to be intentional about tending to the key areas of my life by seeking God’s advice on the best ways to cultivate these spaces. • SPIRIT • SOUL • BODY • FINANCES • RELATIONSHIPS. . . Every year this is how I seek God’s advice on goal setting. Throughout the year He shines His light in the spaces where fear, poverty mindsets, rejection, pride and offense have tried to rob me of His blessing. He’s been showing me how I respond vs react and why surrender is to His plan is always a guarantee to prosper (Jeremiah 29:11-13). For the past several months He has highlighted relationships. And if I’m honest, that one makes me want to throw up. Every emotion I’ve ever known, stirs in my stomach and the overwhelming anxiety of ‘getting it right’ has crippled me stuck, for years. Until now.
The choice to be in relationships is the response to surrendering the people pleasing and performance of DOING relationships. See BEING IN RELATIONSHIPS is Micah 6:8; but DOING RELATIONSHIPS is the tiny térmites and little foxes the eat away at the growth (Song of Songs 2:15) It’s the ‘project of relationships’ vs allowing God to plow deep into the soil of our hearts and dig up the spoiled, rotten weeds that choke life out of the good seed that’s being planted. "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing." -1 Corinthians 13:1–2.
🏔Faith that can move mountains is an amazing thing indeed, but you know what’s more amazing? Love. If love isn’t at the base of all that we do, if the love of Christ doesn’t permeate every single prayer we pray and move we make, what does the rest of it matter? Without love we’re just clanging around, making big sounds about how much we know (or causing a ruckus rambling about how much we don’t), getting on our high horse about how amazing we think we are, or listing off our accomplishments in loud tones. Does that sound annoying and silly? That’s because it is!
Without love as defined by the face of God in the sacrifice of Christ Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit, we might as well just close up shop and go home. It’s love that propels every good thing. It’s God’s love that makes us patient and kind and gentle and grows us in holiness. If love is not our foundation, everything else is just noise. And let’s be honest—noise for the sake of noise is a waste indeed. What the weary world needs is the clearly defined love of Christ sung with joy from our very souls.
The greatest of these is love, friends. Connect yourself to the source of Love in Christ and move from that place into your day with great joy and purpose. There’s so much of His love to share.
