One of my favorite videos from the trip 😂 Amanda looks like a little garden gnome out there with her trash bag cover. #whitemountains #pemiloop
day 2 ... we did anything at this point to get a good laugh. Watch til the end!!
I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees... take advantage of your lows because with deep deep lows come tremendously beautiful highs. The lows are never fun for anyone... it’s important to remember though that without those lows, you would never know what high really feels like.
Day 3 white mountains, post-blizzard, post the deepest lows of the trip.
Although I deeply love oceans, deserts, beaches and other wild landscapes, it has always been the mountains that beckon me with that sort of painful magnetic pull.. the pull that takes me deeper and deeper into their natural unknown beauties so I can experience views that can only be seen on foot.
This photo represents a moment that I’ll never forget on day 2 of our hike through the white mountains... in the distance you can actually see where we hiked from to get to this spot... about 4 hours prior we were in that little cloud to the top left... aka the blizzard on the peak of La Fayette. We all had a lot of ups and downs on this day @asprech
mentioned never ever wanting to backpack again, don’t worry she took it back... @laurroncon
was convinced we we’re we’re going to die of hypothermia in the blizzard (those pictures are coming soon) and yours truly had a temper tantrum after her feet suddenly sunk into an ice cold pond of mud trying to get water for the group thinking it would be our only source of water until the next day... you will see no pictures of that because I was throwing water bottles everywhere and had no desire to pull out the GoPro... but it was at this very moment when we got to this peak... we realized how worth it, it all was. How our hitchhikers @patfromearth
managed to stick with us this whole day is beyond me...
The happiest of birthdays to my beautiful niece @jamisenbrooklyn
... the big One-zero!!! This is one of my favorite pictures of you and Leon. I can't believe you're already in the double digits... pretty soon I'm going to be helping teach you how to drive, you'll be coming on backpacking trips with me, snowboarding (this year!), mountain biking, football... I've told you and your mom time and time again that you should've been mine because were exactly alike (aside from the fact that you can dance way better than me...) but other than that... you truly are my mini-me with blonde hair. Uncle Nate and Auntie Brittney love you so much! I wish you the best of all birthdays today sweetheart. Can't wait to see you! Also double whammy with this picture since its #pitbullawarenessmonth
Not all of day 1 was sunshine and rainbows 🌈☀️ because the sun went down... a lot sooner than we expected. We wound up hiking for about 2 hours in total darkness with our headlamps as I mentioned in my previous post. It was eerie to say the least... Temps dropped, wind picked up... andddd it was the first time ever setting up camp for this chick 🤷🏻♀️ and really didn’t want to have to do it in the dark ... but we set the tent and fed ourselves some nice hot rehydrated Pad Thai... 🍜 tasted gourmet to me! All 3 of us actually fit perfectly in that little tent all snuggled in our matching @nemoequipment
sleeping bags lol
on day 1... we started the PemiLoop at Lincoln Trail Head and ended up at Liberty Springs the first night... way later than expected... hiking about 2 hours after the sun set with our headlamps on... None of us expected such a technical climb on day one and by the 5th hour we all felt like old clumsy horses dragging our hooves up the trail. 🐴
HIGHS: the view at the top, #leafpeeping @asprech
falling out of her chair, @laurroncon
being the mom and making our freeze dried pad Thai, and all of us trying to figure out how to hang the bear bag then throwing it into the tree until it stuck. Thinking to myself @n_g_scott
would be so proud of us. 💪🏻 LOWS: the temperature drop, thinking we lost the blue trail and then realizing nope... we really do have to scale that cliff in pure darkness, trying to find the blue trail with headlamps at the top of a ridge with 30 mph winds.... pretty much all things that happened that day in the dark. Note to self... don’t ever let yourself hike at night again.💡 #optoutside
One of the most mentally challenging things I've ever done in my life. Mainly because of the weather conditions and this really awesome blizzard we hiked 3 hours in.... I hated every second of the #pemiloop
but somehow loved every second of it too. I couldn't have done it without 2 of my best friends @asprech
by my side... and also our trail Angel's @patfromearth @trippinsteve
Happy National #pitbullawarenessmonth
🎈here's to my first born child and the most perfect pitbull to ever grace our planet 🌎 well at least my planet anyway.

and I are trying to get more organ meat into our diets so I snuck some beef liver into this paleo meatloaf. And bacon... bacon's an organ right? Delicious for someone who isn't a huge fan of liver 🤓
When I travel, I just cant get this little nugget out of my head. I hope you had a fun 3 day sleepover with your brother Rocco!! :) mommy and daddy are coming home 😘😘😘
Been a while since I made a pitaya bowl!
The less you focus on what everyone else is doing and what everyobe else has, the more successful you will be physically and mentally. Use your energy wisely.
You will never accomplish anything unless you believe in yourself or the subject you're trying to prove. The power of believing in yourself is more remarkable than anyone could ever know. And the problem is most people don't know how powerful it is because they never give it a chance. In honor of one of the most brilliant brains of our time, the Albert Einstein of our Generation, Stephen Hawking believed in himself, all of his ideas, and was so passionate about everything he did that it rubbed off on everyone around him... So much that whether he was right or wrong, people just believed it. I challenge you to believe in yourself and ignore everyone else around you. Rip Stephen Hawking. You will always and forever be remembered.
