S W I P E • You’re only as good as the company you keep. That’s a fact. || Maybe I’ve just been incredibly fortunate, but my life is filled with a tribe of amazing women who inspire me by their greatness and make me want to do better. @artnsole
is simply the dopest (& flyest). She’s my college bestie, my line sister, Dylan’s God mom, my confidant, and everything in between. She’s an educator who’s changing the lives of underprivileged kids through her work as a principal at a Washington, DC charter school. She’s also one of the most cultured humans I know. She’s an artist and art collector. Because of her, Dylan’s bedroom looks like an art gallery (mostly filled with pieces from black artists like @hebrubrantley
), as she’s made it her job to teach her more about the world through art. ———————————————————————————
That brings me to @docmils.
Have you ever met someone who’s brilliant (like for real), but also super down to earth and exudes positivity in everything she does? That’s @docmils.
After we graduated from Howard, she went to medical school, married her college sweetheart, had a baby, started her Anesthesiology residency, oh, and then had another baby! Did you hear that? A👏🏾BLACK👏🏾FEMALE👏🏾ANESTHESIOLOGIST👏🏾 This woman is saving lives. And she had not ONE but TWO kids while making it look easy. With her her husband, they are raising two powerful tiny humans. ———————————————————————————
It’s important that we celebrate our people doing amazing work to inspire our children. I’ve made it my mission to use my voice to show little brown girls who look like me that anything is possible. Thank you @Uber
for your efforts to empower underrepresented voices through programs like Women of Uber, UberPride, UberHUE and more. It takes companies like yours to continue setting a new standard, by offering platforms for voices to be heard and a different point of view to society. #CelebrateYourTribe #Sponsored #WhereTo
