📖 SKY IN THE DEEP (Adrienne Young)

QOTD: What are you reading this weekend and are you enjoying it?
I am reading SKY IN THE DEEP by Adrienne Young at the moment. I have only 60 pages left, so I'll finish it today.
I got this book for my birthday and I was really excited about, but especially the first half is underwhelming. For a book about a female Viking warrior it doesn't contain a lot of action or world building that would connect it to the Viking culture for me (except for a few names and phrases). The world isn't really introduced at the beginning. It starts right with the heroine Eelyn discovering what has happened to her brother. She's abducted by the Riki shortly after this. On the next 140 pages, her life in the mountains with the enemy clan is described ... which is absolutely boring. So many pages full of dry conversation, wood carving, gardening and other stuff. It's weird how quickly some members of the enemy clan warm up to Eelyn. I expected a lot more hostility, but except for her abduction and a few exceptions, her life there seems almost peaceful. Her terrible attempts to escape don't make her look like the badass warrior I expected after I have read the blurb.
The book got a little better for me in the second half when the story starts to pick up pace. There's a little more action and fighting, but Eelyn is just a standard heroine for me. There isn't something that makes her stand out. The other characters aren't really memorable either. They lack complexity and depth.
There is so much that bugs me about this book and I doubt that the last 60 pages will completely change my opinion about it.
I saw many five-star reviews on Goodreads which give me the impression I read a completely different book. I am so disappointed.
