Hey everyone, long time no see or talk! I’ve been missing the skincare community so much. I’m always looking for a clear start when it comes to my skin, fighting acne and oily skin is always a challenge and thanks to influenster & dermalogica for allowing me to try such amazing products! Some thoughts on each product: Out of the 2, I have fallen more in love with the blackhead fizzing mask. It only takes 3-5 minutes to use, it’s fun and delivers amazing results. It also has some awesome ingredients such as sulphur to help keep skin clear, kaolin clay to adsorb impurities, glycerin to hydrate the skin, tea tree leaf oil to help fight acne and some other great ingredients such as apple fruit extract, ginger root oil, rosemary leaf oil, turmeric root extract, eucalyptus oil, lavender oil, sage oil and more! This mask has a somewhat unpleasant smell, but for me it’s worth it since every time I use it it keeps my skin less oily/more matte throughout the day and my skin looks and feels softer and instantly looks more clear, not a blackhead in sight! 😉 The breakout clearing booster is a 2% Salicylic Acid acne spot treatment that also has some other great ingredients (which makes it great to use all over the face followed by a moisturizer after to help treat and prevent breakouts) such as niacinamide to help even skin tone, glycerin and sodium hyaluronate to hydrate the skin and lactic acid which chemically exfoliates the skin and can help fight acne as well. I find it has been a pretty good spot treatment. Got these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes, all thoughts are my own. #ClearlyGlowing #clearstartxinfluenster #complimentary @dermalogicacdn @Influenster
Hey fellow skincare lovers! 👋🏼 For a while now I have wanted to do a post comparing these two products since I’ve seen people say that they’re dupes for each other (swipe for COSDNA ingredients list break down): Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment $75 CAD for 1.7oz vs. Sephora Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying Zinc & Copper $25 CAD for 2.03oz. Personally, I love both of these masks and try to use both of them at least 1-2 times a week if I remember/have the time. Since the Glamglow one is MUCH more $$ I tend to only use it on true problem areas such as my nose, sometimes my chin & really bad breakouts, I use the Sephora mask everywhere else! Ingredients wise though they are both kaolin clay based masks with some other ingredients in common such as: magnesium aluminum silicate, aloe leaf juice, sodium hydroxide, glycerin, fragrance & iron oxide etc. If you’re sensitive to fragrance than these masks will be a hard pass for you & if you’re sensitive to dimethicone (silicones) then the Glamglow one will be a pass for you as well! The only thing that makes me gravitate towards the Glamglow mask more is all the actives (AHA/BHA it has): salicylic acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, tartaric acid and pyruvic acid. In this community we all love our actives that help to chemically exfoliate the skin and fight break outs! Also with the Sephora mask it tends to become very flakey when it dries and I find that because of the actives in the Glamglow mask, I get a deeper clean (when it dries I can see my pores more which is satisfying to me🤷🏻‍♀️). Overall I can’t see myself not constantly repurchasing both of these masks since together they work amazingly for my skin even though it can be a bit $$$. Just be careful if you have sensitive skin since every time I used these masks (mainly in the beginning) I did tend to feel a slight stinging/irritation/tingling, but it goes away pretty damn fast and the results are worth it. I think both masks are ideal/best for oily-combination skin types. Also with the Glamglow one having so many actives I have heard a couple people have very bad experiences with it being too harsh (patch test first)!
Hey skincare community, it’s been almost 7 weeks since I’ve last posted...😱 (used to be oilycomboprobs) I have genuinely missed posting & engaging with you all! I’m also happy to say that I have just started my 3rd week of Medical Aesthetics at Gina’s Collage, in less than 8 months I’ll be a certified aesthetician! I have been loving my program so far it’s been so fun, but overwhelming since it’s a full time, fast paced program...wish me luck! 😬 Wanted to come back with something a little different...here is today’s skincare + make up routine (both my true loves/passions) I did before/for class! Skincare: •Fresh Soy Face Cleanser (lovely gel cleanser with a great pH of 5.38, strong scent, a bit overwhelming but it’s a nice morning cleanse for me, super gentle yet effective) •Thayers Witch Hazel Aloe Vera Rose Petal Toner •Jordan Samuel Skin Hydrate Facial Serum •Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème •Boscia Cactus Water Makeup: •Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector •It Cosmetics CC+ Oil-Feee Matte Full Coverage Cream + Anti-Aging Hydrating Serum in Light (IN LOVE WITH THIS STUFF HOLY 😍, going through it pretty fast) •Wet n Wild Photofocus concealer in Light/Medium Beige •Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent •Marc Jacobs 104 Tan-tastic! O!Mega Bronze •Fenty Beauty Mean Money + Hu$tla Baby Highlighters mixed •The Browgal Powder (set of 3, darkest shade) •Maybelline Lash Sensational •Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm •Kylie Cosmetics Exposed Lip Liner •Fenty Beauty Up 2 No Good Lipstick •Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow Happy Monday, skincare fam! I hope to engage more with you all and post more! 💕
Happy Thursday skincare fam! Today’s post is finally an empties post which are one of my favourite posts to see from all of you since you get to see a quick review/thoughts of a whole bunch of products at once! Here goes— 🔹Sephora Green Clay Mask & Blue Clay Mask: These were just okay, nothing special. I wouldn’t repurchase. You kinda get what you pay for with these...basic clay masks with no special or standout ingredients that deliver basic results and for $10 CAD each it wasn’t worth the money since you can spend $10 on a way bigger size clay mask at the drugstore with around the same ingredients/results and these Sephora ones you only get around 4-6 uses out of it. 🔸Cosrx’s Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser: 5.56 pH which is in a good range, strong tea tree oil smell, lathers/foams nicely and is just an overall good, basic gel cleanser. For under $20 CAD it’s definitely worth the money and lasts a LONG time. Nothing negative to say about it, just don’t get why I saw so much hype around it when it’s nothing special, but it still is a great cleanser for normal, combo and oily skin types I would say! Probably won’t repurchase. 🔹First Aid Beauty’s Coconut Water Cream: Perfect summertime moisturizer for oily/combo skin! It dries down to a matte/powdery finish which I love. It’s very silicone-y in feel/texture but it smells so nice and sinks into the skin fast. It has great ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate, coconut fruit juice, coffee extract and more which makes it stand out to me. Only con is I always felt like I used so much at a time since it dries down fast and very matte so I ran out of it quickly and some days it felt like it wasn’t hydrating enough. Might repurchase next summer! More in the comments👇🏼
Just some of the current sheet masks I’m hoarding... I’ve only tried the 2 hydrating masks in this bunch (hydro boost & egg cream mask), both repurchases since they worked so well for me! I’m a very typical oily/combo skin type with 4/7 being charcoal deep cleaning type of masks! 😂 Happy Thursday, everyone. Happy skin-caring..😊💕
Very amateur finger painting with my skincare trying to do a #textureshot but I at least had fun doing it for something different 🤷🏻‍♀️ (inspired by somethingaboutolivia , boy_into_beauty & whoever else has done a texture shot). Swipe for products used and some close ups! Happy Hump Day, if you’ve made it this far pat yourself on the back...the weekend is coming. 🤪
Thank you @influenster for letting me try this B.B. Cushion! First time I’ve ever tried something so sheer/light coverage but it is love at first use. I love that it is so easy and QUICK to apply, perfect for work days for me on the go. Also got a great shade/match for me, has a subtle but nice fragrance, has spf 50, slightly hydrating and has a bit of a dewy finish and just evens out my skin tone and adds some life/luminosity to my skin. If you’re oily you might need to use a powder over top OR use a mattifying primer to make it last longer but so far I’m loving it without powder, just primer. Perfect summer makeup product that I can’t recommended enough especially for all of you normal-dry skin types but oddly enough it’s great for even combo-oily skin. Swipe for makeup products used (forgot to include my BECCA Poreless matte primer) and a selfie. Also how awesome is it that it comes with a refill (gifted but all thoughts are my own). #lovinglaneige #bbisback #contest #complimentary @influensterCA @laneigeca
Daytime routine: Cleanser—Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Cleansing Gel with a revealed pH of 6.39😕 as always cleansers that are around a 4.5-5.5 pH are best since that’s around the pH of your face (learnt from socialskinroutine). This cleanser is new in my collection and today was the first time I used it and it has a thick, kinda sticky gel consistency...and it was kinda weird since it took more effort than I’m used to, to work the product into my skin before it lathered up. It has a subtle nice fragrance to it and the main reason why I was attracted to this cleanser is that it is a pore clearing cleanser with great acids such as mandelic acid & glycolic acid to really get deep into your pores and clear them of congestion which I love in. a cleanser since I believe my congestion prone skin really needs. It also has sodium hyaluronate and aloe leaf juice to help hydrate your skin as well and some other great ingredients too. No concrete thoughts yet but with a rounded pH of 6.3 and a weird consistency I don’t think I’d recommend it so far! Might return...😅 Tone—Indie Lee Lotion CoQ-10 which has been lovely so far, just has a super strong (but nice) fragrance that I’m getting used to but the ingredients list overall are 👌🏼. Serums— Drunk Elephant’s C Firma + B-Hydra followed by another newbie Volition’s Snow Mushroom Water Serum. Eyes—CeraVe Eye Repair Cream followed by Dr. Brant Needles No More No More Baggage that I got in this months boxycharm! Moisturizer—My beloved Farmacy Honey Drop. It’s such a rainy, gloomy day so it was hard to get a good picture today, but at least I enjoyed my routine as I hope you all do today as well...💕
Happy Saturday to my beautiful skincare fam! 💓 Spot any favourites? #texture #textureshot
Today’s daytime routine since all I know how to do is post routine pictures🤪: Cleanser—Farmacy’s Clean Bee with a pH of 5.42👏🏼 I was told that this cleanser is actually a 5.6...but either way it’s in a great range to align with your skin’s natural pH level (4.5-5.5 as always is the best range for your cleansers to be in tune with your skin...I’ve learned a lot of this from socialskinroutine). I genuinely love this cleanser. It smells lovely and it’s very gentle on your skin yet I still feel like I get a good, deep clean since it lathers nicely. It has beautiful skin loving ingredients such as glycerin, honey extract, royal jelly extract, sodium hyaluronate, aloe leaf juice and lots of other great ingredients and I truly think all skin types would love/benefit from this cleanser! Exfoliate—Amore Pacific’s Treatment Enzyme Peel. Tone—Indie Lee’s Lotion CoQ-10. Mask—First Aid Beauty’s Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask. Spritz—Josh Rosebrook’s Hydrating Accelerator. Moisturize—Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Pink Juice + Youth To The People’s Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream sample. May everyone’s skin routine be as pleasant to their skin as this routine is for me. 💕
Morning routine before a long day😴: Cleanse—Jordan Samuel Skin The Matinee Gel Cleanser with a revealed pH of 4.33👏🏼🙌🏼 I know on his page he revealed that there were 2 batches: 4.12 and 4.26 pH so I must have gotten the 4.26 batch THANKFULLY! My pH meter might be a bit off but overall you get the point between a 4.2-4.3 pH range which is great either way (as always a cleanser that is in a 4.5-5.5 pH is always ideal as I’ve learned from socialskinroutine since our skin is naturally around that range). This cleanser is the most unique in my cleanser collection in the sense that this is a non-scented, non lather and non foaming gel cleanser...basically a dream since it is super gentle on the skin and is what I’ve been looking for in a cleanser since I wanted something like the Glossier Milky Jelly (which I’m not a fan of) but that worked better for me and my skin and he has delivered with this especially since it has a bit of Salicylic Acid which helps to really clean my oily/combo skin. Only con is it’s not thorough enough as a second cleanse on my make up days or any day that I need a true deep clean if that makes sense, that’s when I reach for my foam/lather cleansers! Tone—Ole Henriksen Balancing Force Oil Control Toner, almost an empty, empties post coming soon-ish! Serum—Drunk Elephant C-Firma mixed with B-Hydra, this is the best combo...EVER. Moisturize—Jordan Samuel Skin Hydrate Facial Serum followed by Drunk Elephant’s Protini mixed with half a pump-ish of D-Bronzi...such a beautiful moisturizing combo!🤤 Eye Cream—Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème. It’s finally Friday! I hope everyone has a good one!❤️😁
Evening routine for today: Cleanse—First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Acne Clearing Charcoal Cleanser with a pH of 4.26👏🏼 ideal range is around 4.5-5.5 pH so this is just a tad low, but nothing worrisome for me. I’d feel comfortable using this cleanser daily even though I don’t since I have so many..😂 Really been enjoying this cleanser! It has the weirdest jelly-creamy, thick, gloopy consistency (cant even describe it properly) but what I truly love is that it has 2% Salicylic Acid along with yogurt extract, probiotics, charcoal powder, kaolin and bentonite clay all of which work together to fight acne and deeply cleanse the skin without stripping it. Tone—Darphin Intral Tonique. Chemical Exfoliant—Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Salicylic Acid Liquid. Love this stuff and am almost running out of it! Essence/Lotion: Orgins Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion to calm down my skin from the BHA. Eye Cream: Youth To The People Kale + Aloe Sunflower Oil Peptides Eye Cream. Moisturizer: Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter and sealed with Derma E Vitamin E Skin Oil. Will be posting more routine pictures for the next bit or so to get up more pH testing results, hope everyone is finding them helpful! May you all be loving your skincare routines tonight! 😊💜
Today’s daytime routine: Cleanser—Saturday Skin Rise + Shine Gentle Cleanser with an alarming pH of 9.04😱 this is the most frustrating pH recording I have done, it would not stop fluctuating between 8.98-9.1-something range...but it mostly stayed at 9.04 & either way, it’s such a high pH (anything above a 5.5 pH is not going to be kind or gentle for your skin since your skin naturally is around a 4.5-5.5 pH and you ideally want a cleanser to be within that range to align with your skin). Pretty disappointing since I was happy with the ingredients list, but honestly I haven’t been enjoying this cleanser much in general, it has a weird texture to me and I already want to give it away..🤪 Tone—Thayer’s Rose Petal Toner. Essence—Tatcha The Essence in prep for my mask. Mask—Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask. Eye Cream—Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème. Moisturize & Hydrate—Jordan Samuel Skin Hydrate Facial Serum followed by Boscia’s Cactus Water Hydrating Cream with some Alkimi Cinco Facial Oil on top to lock it all in. Happy Monday everyone, May your skincare routines be the highlight of your day..🌞💜
Tonight’s mask combo featuring some of my brothers gem/rock collection: @glamglow Supermud on my nose, this is my all time favourite mask for when my skin is breaking out and needs some extra help in decongesting my problem areas. I’ve found no other mask that works quite like this one does on clearing my nose of blackheads since it has an amazing concoction of acids in here: Mandelic acid, Salicylic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Glycolic Acid, Pyruvic Acid and Lactic Acid which helps this mask to exfoliate the skin, deeply clean it and like I said help with breakouts of all kinds so it’s kind of a superhero treatment in my collection. On the rest of my face I’m trying a newbie mask in my collection the @andalounaturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask that has “fruit stem cells, vitamin c, and Glycolic AHA blended with Manuka honey and organic pumpkin, rich in beta carotene, gently dissolve and sweep away dull, dry surface cells, exfoliating and resurfacing for even tone, smooth texture, and a luminous complexion.” First impressions for far is it smells nice, only mildly stung for a minute or less upon application and when removed left my skin feeling smooth and looked very bright. I know I’ll see more conclusive results the more I use it, so far I am really liking it! Hope everyone’s having a good weekend! 😊
After shower masking with @neutrogena (swipe for ingredients lists and some mask selfies)! Neutrogena is one of the few brands that I like when it comes to getting skincare from the drugstore and both of these masks worked well for me which is nice since they’re both under $10 each at most drug stores! The cleanser/mask is great because it has AHA’S, BHA’s, kaolin and bentonite clays in it to get deep into your pores and clean them out of dirt, oil and grime and the aha/bha work to exfoliate the skin and help with acne/congestion leaving you with smooth, super clean skin! I personally like using this as a mask over a cleanser, but it works great as either/or. The hydro boost gel mask is a two piece mask that has Hyaluronic Acid, castor oil and Sacha Inchi oil that really hydrate and nourish the skin and the mask has a cooling sensation to it the entire time you wear it and after, just like the clay mask, you’re left with soft, smooth and now HYDRATED skin! They’re really a nice duo! I was given these items complimentary of Influenster to test out and review, all thoughts are my own! #neutrogenamask #neutrogena #complimentary #contest @influensterca @neutrogenacanada
Tonight’s PM routine and pH test: Cleanse—Beste Jelly Cleanser with a pH of 6.30😟 now to be fair, this is the old version (just my luck they reformulated this not too long after I got this) so any thoughts or reviews I have on this wouldn’t really be helpful to anyone, all I will say is my thoughts have changed since my original first impressions and I’m so happy to almost be done this....also the pH of the reformulated one is lower than this and more in my preferred pH range. Ideal range is 4.5-5.5 to be more in tune with your skin’s pH but anything below 6 is good in my books in general. (pH info always from socialskinroutine). Scrub—Scrub Your Nose In It AHA Facial Scrub on the t-zone only and left on for 2ish minutes before rinsing. Essence—Tatcha The Essence. Serum—RESIST Omega+Complex. Moisturizer combo—Juice Beauty Oil-Free Moisturizer with a pump-ish of TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum for an added boost of exfoliation since I’m breaking out so bad lately. Eye Cream—Eye Repair Cream. Hope you’re all enjoying your PM routines today! 🌙⭐️
Hello skincare fam! Hope everyone’s having a good Monday. I’m starting something a little different/new now with my routine pictures...I’ll be testing the pH of my cleansers since I have a lot of them and have been curious about the pH of my cleansers in general! Now I’m hoping everything I post will be accurate but I’m a newbie to all this pH testing and as of now can only do a 2 point calibration (4.0pH calibration and a 7.0 calibration) if any of my testings aren’t accurate feel free to let me know! Been having a hard time finding good calibration solutions online...🙄 what I’ve learned from socialskinroutine is that 4.5-5.5 is the best pH range for your cleansers to be more like the actual pH of your skin and that’s why I wanted to do some of my own. Also because a pH of 6 or higher can be bad if you’re acne prone like me according to all the research studies that socialskinroutine always credits in her posts. Anyways my afternoon routine: 🌷Cleanse: Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser (5.56 pH) which is good in my books and I’m almost done with this cleanser as well..😍🙌🏼 🌷Tone: Facial Radiance Pads. 🌷Eye Cream: Kale + Aloe Sunflower Oil Peptides. 🌷Serum: Hydrate Facial Serum. 🌷Moisturizer: Watermelon Glow Pink Juice.
Well my last #shelfie #itgtopshelfie featuring some body care products that I love along with some of my favourite makeup products. Also some glam selfies. Not a traditional skincare post, but I hope you guys don’t mind since I don’t have much to post right now, yet I still wanted to post. 💄💋
