80 years ago this very moment, Jewish synagogues, homes, and places of business were being destroyed during what would be called "Kristallnacht", or the Night of Broken Glass. This, in effect, was the beginning of the Holocaust. Tonight we remember the dozens killed during Kristallnacht. It is our duty to make sure this kind of thing never happens again. Someone once said that history may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme. #80yearsago #kristallnacht #ushmm #neverforget #tohellwithhitler #punchnazis
This post is particularly saddening to write. My friend Hassell G. Vass, 10th Mountain Division veteran of WWII, passed away on Tuesday, at the age of 96. While fighting in northern Italy, Vass took a German mortar round to the leg, causing gangrene to set in. He took 8 shots of penicillin for 17 days straight to beat the infection, saving his leg. I'm so happy to be able to call Mr. Vass a friend of mine. Climb to Glory!!! Hassel G. Vass (July 10, 1922 - October 30, 2018)

In the wake of the tragedy in Pittsburgh, I thought I would put this out here. Nazis are garbage and need to be destroyed. Its just that simple....man, I hate Nazis.
Remembering the first Holocaust survivor I ever met, back in 2015. Rest in peace, Henry Greenbaum.

I figured I would post some cool original 1940s color photos. All are from 1944/1945.
1. My great-grandmother holding my grandmother.
2. My great-grandfather holding my grandmother.
3. My grandmother sitting on her mother's lap.
4. My grandmother sporting her father's hat.
5. My 2x great-grandmother, my 2x great uncle (served as a pilot in the China India Burma Theater in WWII), and my great grandmother.
6. My 2x great-grandmother and great grandmother holding a tapestry (likely brought back from C.I.B. Theater)

I finally scanned the photo strips from a few weeks ago when I brought my WWII stuff to a photobooth that still uses a chemical process, in Ocean City, Maryland.
