Great drone capture of the Peles Castle (@castelulpeles )🏰. Love this autumn-winter shot with such an amazing composition ❄️🌲🍂🍁🏔, Sinaia, Romania 🇷🇴. __________________________ Photo Credit: @mariciu . ———————————- Nestled at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains in the picturesque town of Sinaia, Peles Castle is a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance architecture, considered by many one of the most stunning castles in Europe. Commissioned by King Carol I in 1873 and completed in 1883, the castle served as the summer residence of the royal family until 1947. Its 160 rooms are adorned with the finest examples of European art, Murano crystal chandeliers, German stained-glass windows and Cordoba leather-covered walls. Peles Castle was the first European castle entirely lit by electrical current. The electricity was produced by the castle's own plant. The castle draws its name from neighboring Peles Creek, which passes right through the courtyard. The first movie projection in Romania took place in 1906 in the castle's Theater Room. The furniture in the Music Room is carved of teak, a gift to King Carol I from the Maharajah of Kapurtala in India, while handmade silk embroideries adorn the ceiling and walls of the Turkish Salon. The ceiling paintings and decorative frescoes in the Theater Hall were designed by the renowned Austrian artists Gustav Klimt and Frantz Matsch. Over 4,000 European and Oriental pieces dating from the 15th to the 19th centuries are on display in the armories _______________________________________________________

In 1909, the line was taken from the church fund that changed the gauge of the line from 800 millimeters to a standard gauge of 760 millimeters. Initially, the route was 23.9 kilometers, from Moldoviţa to Roşoşa, but during the years a lot of variants were built and the whole system reached in 1987 with the establishment of the Râşcovei section - Straight Rice + Burns at a length 73 kilometers. The line from Moldoviţa was used until 2001 for transportation of wood. Since July 2005, the line is managed by the Association for Keeping Narrow Lines in Romania. We like this winter shot captured from above by drone in the centre of Sibiu ❄️🌃, Romania🇷🇴.. ______________________________________ Photo credit: @duminciuc_bogdan . ————————————————- Hermannstadt in German) was the largest and wealthiest of the seven walled citadels built in the 12th century by German settlers known as Transylvanian Saxons. The riches amassed by its guilds paid for the construction of both impressive buildings and the fortifications required to protect them. Sibiu's Old Town retains the grandeur of its earlier days when rich and powerful guilds dominated regional trade. Like Sighisoara and Brasov, it has a distinctly Germanic feeling. Sections of the medieval wall still guard the historic area, where narrow streets pass steep-roofed 17th century buildings with gable overhangs before opening into vast, church-dominated squares such as Great Square and Little Square. Sibiu is a pedestrian-friendly city with two easily accessible levels: the Upper town, home to most of Sibiu's historic sights, and the Lower town, lined with colorful houses on cobblestone streets and bounded by imposing city walls and defense towers overlooking the river Cibin. In 1797, Samuel von Hahnemann opened in Sibiu the world's first homeopathic laboratory. Sibiu is home to the first hospital in Romania (1292), the first pharmacy (1494) and the oldest museum in Romania, the Brukenthal Museum, opened in 1817 The first book in the Romanian language was printed in Sibiu in 1544. Traditionally, the Upper town was the wealthier part and commercial outlet, while the Lower town served as the manufacturing area. The historical centre includes the Great Square, Huet Square, the beautiful Passage of Steps connecting the upper town to the lower town, the well-known Bridge of Lies, Goldsmiths' Square and the Small Square. ————————————————————————-

Romania celebrates today, January 15, the Day of National Culture and the 169th anniversary of national genius poet Mihai Eminescu (1850-1889), considered as the most famous and influential Romanian poet, as well as the last major representative of European Romanticism, as well as a promoter of enlightened nationalism 🇷🇴 . "Luceafărul" was certified as the longest love poem by the World Record Academy ———————————————————————— Art draw by @nica.cn via @bestseller_books ———————————————————————— Born Mihail Eminovici; (15 January 1850 – 15 June 1889) was a Romantic poet, novelist and journalist. Eminescu was an active member of the Junimea literary society and worked as an editor for the newspaper Timpul ("The Time"), the official newspaper of the Conservative Party (1880–1918). His poetry was first published when he was 16 and he went to Vienna to study when he was 19. The poet's manuscripts, containing 46 volumes and approximately 14,000 pages, were offered by Titu Maiorescu as a gift to the Romanian Academy during the meeting that was held on 25 January 1902. Notable works include Luceafărul (The Vesper/The Evening Star/The Lucifer/The Daystar), Odă în metru antic (Ode in Ancient Meter), and the five Letters (Epistles/Satires). Postacard from the Hunedoara Castle / Corvin’s Castle ( castelul Corvinilor / Huniazilor), Hunedoara , Romania 🇷🇴 . _________________________________ Photo credit : @nicolae.anghel . ——————————————- The Corvin Castle, also known as the Hunyadi castle is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved medieval castles in Transylvania. The castle was built in the 14th century, being the most famous property of Romanian ruler Iancu of Hunedoara. To this day, this impressive castle dominates the city of Hunedoara with its Gothic architecture. It only takes one visit to the Corvin Castle for a traveler to imagine this as the perfect setting for Edgar Allan Poe’s “ghost stories”. Vlad Tepes ( Vlad the impaler / Vlad III of Walachia son of Vlad II Dracul) was prisoner in this castle. While waiting for the council , Vlad Tepes almost went insane because he was able to hear the screams of those who were sentenced to death and then thrown in the “Pit of lions”, where there were actually hungry bears and wolves that would eat alive any person thrown in. The Hunedoara Castle is sometimes mentioned as a source of inspiration for Bram Stoker's Castle Dracula. In fact, Stoker neither knew about Vlad's alliance with Hunyadi, nor about Hunyadi's castle. Instead, Stoker's own handwritten research notes confirm that the novelist imagined the Castle Dracula to be situated on an empty top in the Transylvanian Călimani Mountains near the former border with Moldavia.🇷🇴. . ______________________________________________________ . @castellidelmondo @loves_united_castle @churchesandcastles @castlesandhotels @castles_world @castellinelmondo @castles_oftheworld @medieval_castles @inspirecastles #castle #beautifulplace #ig_europe #transylvania #awesomeearth #discover #discoveromania #romania #exploreromania #romania 🇹🇩 #romaniangirl #map_of_europe #romaniapitoreasca #dracula #vampire #beautifuldestinations #if_shotz #special_shotz #igs_world #europe_pics #way2ill #living_europe #fatalframes #castelulcorvinilor #romaniamagica #travellingthroughtheworld #ig_romania #architectureporn #citadel #citadelle
