Looking at things like two opposing and complimentary parts. πŸŒ— - But this can be limiting cause then we only know one part or one side.πŸŒ— - So the thing about balance...the thing about fullness or wholeness, is reconciling and merging both. πŸŒ— - This is non-duality. Introverts Unite. ✨ - This week in my classes I’ve been focusing on the topic of Belonging, of being a part of a tribe or Sangha. πŸ™πŸ½ - I was born the youngest in a big family, so I had a pretty powerful community from the start. But often being an active and vocal part of that tribe felt less empowering and more draining because I’m someone who recharges in solitude, reflection and silence.✨ - I love my family. But I’ve had to implement a lot of boundaries for myself to preserve the time I need to recharge, so I can honestly and generously show up for them whenever they need me. ✨ - And trust, I’m still working on it. But it is the time I spend on my mat and on my cushion that allows me to reconnect to infinite energy, which gives me strength to be an active and vocal member of my family and greater community. πŸ™πŸ½ - Let’s meet on the mat. πŸ’• - πŸ“Έ @amberanywhere
Give me REAL over PERFECT any day. ✨ - I teach alignment based yoga asana. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ - I help people recover from chronic injuries to achieve less pain and more ease in their life. πŸ™ŒπŸ½ - But for someone walking into my class for the first time though, alignment can feel like more stress, like more restrictions or like seeking more perfection. πŸ€” - Alignment is a very tangible and real way of how we structure ourselves. It is a constant lens through which we can observe how we might be changing and growing or at times off center and in need of calibration. ✨ - And I see alignment as a doorway into observing very real qualities of how I’m a human who is imperfectly perfect. πŸ™ŒπŸ½ - Afterall, the practice itself is the journey. How often have you heard a yoga teacher say, β€œjust soften and let go.” Like it’s a super easy thing...πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ - I don’t know about you, but surrendering is a BIG practice I do daily. ✨ - One of the biggest things I let go, still to this day, is the fact that at two I had cancer. ✨ - There was literally nothing I or my parents could’ve done to prevent it. But we fought like hell to destroy it.✨ - And this is a part of my childhood story to which I am powerless. I didn’t have any control over the fact that I got sick. ✨ - But the more present I become each day with accepting truth and surrendering into the things I cannot control, the more I connect into a great peace that there is so much beyond just me. ✨ - And honestly, I’m happy to be off the hook and to not have responsibility for every single thing that happens in my life. ✨ - And I’m thankful for books which guide me on how to continue my practice of letting go. ✨ - For more books that I’m vibing on check out my story. πŸ™πŸ½ - πŸ“Έ @amberanywhere

There’s a palpable feeling in the city today. As there is every year on this day. ✨ - I got on the train this morning and for no obvious reason started crying. πŸ’™ - Now this would be probably the 1,453rd time I’ve cried on the train since moving here, revealing that I am no stranger to the awkward stares from strangers I get when a tear rolls down my cheek unmet. ❀️ - And for those of us who lived through it, we will never forget where we were on this day 17 years ago and the pledges we made in our hearts. πŸ™πŸ½ - So as I remember the shock I felt that morning, and as I stand today weeping with my city mourning her loss and as I look to the light for the promise of a brighter future, I know that there is such power and transformation in loving presence. Because it exists in us. Daily. πŸ’™ - This city is brighter and more compassionate than ever. The joy within. ✨ - For many years my physical practice was just another way to torture myself. 😒 - I had turned my time on the mat as yet another way to be critical of myself, judgmental toward the teacher and overall perfectionistic. 🀫 - I had originally sought a physical practice because it felt so inclusive and accepting, but without doing any work to change my energetic and intentional habits, my practice became a place for me to hide. 😳 - Transformation is a long road. ✨ - And I don’t know when it started happening, but it started with my amazing teachers who lovingly saw me. ✨ - But I started to see myself through that lens of love they held for me. πŸ’• - We are all love. ✨ Heart Explosion ✨ - Growing up, in a rather large family, we had to prioritize alone time with each other, or else it wouldn’t happen. 😝 - So my parents came up with TAT (aka Time Alone Together). Integration. ✨ - I’ve had profound changes in my life and practice this summer; taking even more time to be still without a lot of travel, realizing that my need for nature is cellular, expanding my role as teacher and mentor and placating those β€œimposter” voices...✨ - But now that I’ve had these experiences, my challenge is to absorb and integrate these changes into my daily life so that deep transformation can occur. πŸ™ŒπŸ½ - And it happens over time. ✨ - And it happens with consistency. ✨ - Practicing mindfulness through movement or stillness gives us the skills we need to integrate. πŸ™ŒπŸ½ - So I’m here for you. Pausing to be with what is. ✨✨✨ - Believe it or not taking time has actually been really hard for me. 🀫🀫🀫 - Moving to NYC more than five years ago gave me the feeling that I needed to start over in a lot of ways; creatively, professionally and personally. While it sounds liberating to have a clean slate, I also needed to hustle a LOT to make anything happen. πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½ - And I’ve kept up with this tempo for some time and looked at productivity as a way of determining self worth. 😬😬😬 - But I’m changing.
