Embracing the character of the song from the Shakira series.
Can you guess the song? .
I am in love with this picture, it goes against everything that a belly dancer is perceived as.
I have known people who just tag belly dance as a seductive dance form.
For me, it has been one of the most liberating art forms.
It has taught me to embrace my body and whatever flaws I used to see of it.
I know that some of you might be rolling your eyes right now thinking of this as a 'thin girl brag'. But let me tell you, even thin girls have body confidence issues - especially because of the pressure of a thin, perfect body. .
I always wanted to learn dance professionally. And I chose belly dance coz of the strength and control of the isolations. It always looked mesmerising to me. I used to watch Shakira's Ojos Asi on loop just trying to get her snake arms right.
I am so glad that I stuck to it, it has given me so much!
Thankful for this powerful girl squad of mine-
for always encouraging me, working on me and giving me opportunities to be a better dancer 😘 You are one of my favourite teachers indeed 🤗
don't know what would I do without your encouraging words, and kindness.. thanks for always being there 🤗
thanks for being so cool about choreos and in the process, helping me relax a bit ♥️
I am so thankful for these friendships.
There are many more to be acknowledged but that's for some other time :) .
