The lyrics come from "Defence of Fort M'Henry", a poem written on September 14, 1814, by the then 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Key was inspired by the large U.S. flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Have a happy and safe 4th of July!! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

For the lucky staff working in the β€œUpstairs Office” (the technical term for the Controller/Design/Inventory/Accounting/VP/Pres office on the 2nd floor of Susquehanna Glass) there is a β€œworking dog” of sorts. Sydney Kinney. He comes to work every day with our VP, Kathy Kinney. He has a job, two jobs, actually… look cute and nap. Who doesn’t want that job?!?! BUT he thinks his job is to walk around looking for treats, he’s got a little circuit, bouncing around from desk to desk. He is an Overachiever at this job. πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•Cheers to all the working dogs out there… we LOVE LOVE LOVE you. πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ• LOVE to all the pups whose sole job in life is winning our hearts. A herding dog is basically born for the job, meaning the dog is a specific breed and part of a herding breed group. However, not all herding breeds are naturally expert herders. Some can have their skills honed with training, while others are better suited to lives as companion dogs. Dogs that do become herders can also compete. πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•πŸ• Service dogs are working dogs that have been specially trained to assist persons with disabilities. 🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚 Can you say β€œShe sells seashells by the seashore” five times fast? I cannot say that five times fast. Heck... I can’t say that five times slow!!! But I especially cannot say that after five glasses of wine… I mean w---- ater. Water. 🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚 People have been trying to say it without stumbling for 108 years. But did you know it actually goes back even further than that? Almost a century farther, in fact, and the mysterious seashell-selling woman on the shore? She was a real person, and she changed how we understand our planet’s very history. Mary Anning was born in 1799 in Lyme Regis in Dorset, England. She was the eldest daughter of a cabinetmaker, and the family supplemented their income by digging up fossils to sell to tourists on the shore. The family was poor, and Anning never really had much of a formal education other than learning to read and write. But she’d end up changing the face of science. In the early 19th century, there weren’t many options for scientifically minded women, especially poor ones. But as women throughout history have always proved, if you have the will, you can do anything, even if society says you can’t. We’ve seen it time and again, from ancient history through the wartime women who constructed planes, and right up through today. 🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚
β€œSummer is here and the time is right…”, as Martha and the Vandellas (originally and covered numerous times) so eloquently sang, ”…for dancing in the street.” What is a Vandella anyway? And this sounds dangerous so might we suggest dancing, instead, on the sidewalk, or perhaps a driveway, the grass of your lawn or how about your backyard? But get out of the street. 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞 HAPPY SUMMER YA’LL!
