New York Pizza Festival was a huge hit with pizzas not only from here but from Washington, Chicago, Texas, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Brooklyn and of course “da best of da Bronx” Zero Otto Nove! After sampling most of them I have to say this New York girl prefers her
Hometown pizza! ❤️🍕🍕🍕
To all my foodie followers, the Tasty Lady will be taking off for awhile!
I just wanted a good bacon cheeseburger today! Nothing elaborate or fancy, no avocado slices or jalapeño spread with it. Just a well made burger!
I’ve been eating kind of rich fancy foods lately and I just wanted to go to a good diner and get a burger.
Due to our shopping schedule today we wound up on the edge of the Bronx and Mount Vernon where we came upon Columbus Diner! It’s supposedly been here 4 years and before that across the street for years.
You could tell before you walk into this diner it’s well kept with beautiful landscaping and fall leaves painted on each window!
Inside it’s a modest size space of booths, table and chairs and counter seating which is nicely decorated and modern.
We were immediately greeted at the door and escorted in. Our waitress, Nancy presented us with two menus befitting a diner! Now I was stuck on a burger but their unusual fair of oxtails and rice and Greek specialties made it difficult!
I started with a meatball soup that I was not in love with, the meatballs were in a Cream based soup which was strange to begin with and the taste was just off.
But they regained my faith when my perfectly cooked burger arrived with all the accompaniments. Coleslaw, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, crispy bacon and cheese melted right onto a juicy burger! The French fries on the side were crispy and delicious as well! BRAVO!! Now don’t think...so what a good burger...do you know how many times I’ve had bad burgers?!? My partner had a turkey club that had fresh shaved turkey and a side of home made mash with tasty brown gravy.
I am excited to go back again especially for breakfast!! @cbus_dining #mtvernon #mtvernonfood
