Several peeps messaged to ask for the recipe for the Bang Bang Chicken I posted the other day, so here it is. (swipe ⬅️⬅️ to see) This dish is also commonly made with shrimp and it's great with rice or ramen for the non-keto people in your house. The sweet chilli sauce will add a few grams of carbs to the recipe, depending on the brand you use. You can certainly leave it out, but I like using a little bit of sweetness that goes a long way. I posted a couple days ago about recently kicking my caffeine pill habit. Then I came across this review article (Shearer J et al, Nutr Rev. 2014) with some interesting points... . Caffeine impairs glucose disposal so chronic use is negative for your long term health, but it's also definitely a performance enhancer so perhaps selective use on game day has its place? πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€” . A 7km run started our competition this morning complete with torrential rain and crazy lightning 🌩🌧🌫 Thanks to finding my groove with fueling on fat, prioritizing sleep, and incorporating @aerobiccapacity work into our gym's programming I ran a race today I wouldn't have been able to do a year ago. I did it! A whole month of waking up with no caffeine πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ . I've been downing 200mg of caffeine the second I open my eyes for at least 12 years, maybe longer - and sometimes a second tablet in the afternoon 😳😳😳 It was a habit (dependence?) I picked up from my bodybuilding days when I needed this crutch to mask a diet and training regime that was totally out of whack. Then it became one of those things I just always did and never gave it much thought. . On a recent episode of High Intensity Health with @metabolic_mike , @stanefferding made the very valid point that if your diet, training, and sleep are on point you shouldn't NEED all the supplements, stimulants, etc. Those just mask an underlying problem. I had a πŸ’‘ moment!! . From that point on I've ditched my "crutch" and to be honest it was easy and I feel totally fine! I obviously didn't need it anymore. I'm down to one cup of coffee mid-morning, but otherwise stimulant free πŸš«πŸ’Š . #buzzkill #wakeup #fatfueled

I actually don't understand when people say they can't eat healthy because it would require cooking a different meal for their kids/family πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€” Lunch with my boys and although they have a bit more fruit, our plates are filled with the same basic things. Food in our house has to pass a litmus test in both directions: 1) if a diet required me to eat things that I was not comfortable feeding to my kids (shakes, pills, packaged meals, etc) then I should not feed that junk to myself 2) if a "kid food" is something i wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole (go-gurt, sunny D, lunchables, etc) then it's not food for them either #realfood #notcomplicated . . . . . . . . . . #keto #ketofam #ketogenic #fatfueled #lchf #healthy #kidfood #meatsandveggies #crossfithealth #paleo #jerf #meateater #crossfit #fitfam

I went to see my awesome doctor and she was cool enough to hook me up with a pile of requisitions for all the testing I'd like done! I told her I've been doing keto for a year and a half and that I'd like to see my cholesterol, triglycerides, etc. Her response? "Oh we actually know now that eating a high fat diet lowers your cholesterol". Win! Although she said the tests she recommends for a healthy 34 year old are NONE, she humored my interest and added items like vitamin D, iron, B12, c-reactive protein and gave me a requisition for a DEXA scan to see bone density, lean tissue, and body fat.
