Our CI Research Seminar Series continues today 😎 🙌🗣️ don't miss out! Come along today at 1pm at Magill campus, C1-41. Yes, we have food and drink 😁👍🥂⠀ .⠀ Affective pedagogies: A new materialist approach to teaching literature - Dr Beatriz Revelles Benavente (University of Barcelona, Spain)⠀ &⠀ Feminist Affect and in/and Education - ⠀ Professor Anna Hickey-Moody (RMIT, Melbourne)⠀ .⠀ These papers adopt an intentionally broad definition of technology that covers digital media, practices of teaching and learning and, indeed, the ways in which we become subjects. Technologies of the self, of language, of gender, of thought are considered in different ways in both the papers, as Revelles Benavente and Hickey-Moody offer perspectives on teaching and learning that are located in the cultural, material and everyday experiences of acquiring new knowledges. Often the ways we learn are responses to the materials involved in processes of learning. ⠀ .⠀ Games, online learning communities, art materials, the child learning alongside you: children's learning assemblages are always already material, psycho-social and mediated by non human agents. Further, the genealogies of knowledge mobilized in considering the materialities of learning remain gendered in ways that reproduce patriarchal knowledge structures. Developing a feminist canon of affect, both scholars adopt a feminist theory of affective pedagogy to illustrate the material-cultural-psychosocial processes of learning that children and young people experience in online and offline learning environments.⠀ .⠀ #icreate #research #social #teaching #education #learning #games #southaustralia #australia #seminarseries #unisacreativeindustries #creativeindustries #unisa
#unisacreativeindustries = #creativecareers ⭐️🎓🖊📖 . Royce Kurmelovs, 2014 graduate of Bachelor of Law and Journalism will launch his third book (yes, his third book!), Boom and Bust, this Thursday! . When: 18 October 2016, doors open ‪at 6pm‬ for ‪6.30pm‬ start. Where: Dymocks, Rundle Mall, Adelaide What: Book launch for Boom and Bust, including QandA session with Dr Ben Stubbs, journalism lecturer at the University of South Australia . Event Page . https://www.facebook.com/events/295216084412718/ About: Australia's mining boom is still talked about with a sense of awe. This once-in-a-lifetime event capped off 25 straight years of economic growth. Thanks to mining we sidestepped the worst of the Global Financial Crisis. To the rest of the world Australia was an economic miracle. And then the boom ended. . Now Australia is grappling with what that means at a time of rising economic inequality and political upheaval. The end of the boom isn't about money - it's about people. Boom and Bust looks at what happens to those who came into vast wealth only to watch it dry up. To those who thought they had a good job for life, but didn't. The bust didn't just happen on stock-market screens - it was lived, and is still being lived right now, in dusty towns and cities all around the country. . As he did in his bestselling book The Death of Holden, Royce Kurmelovs reveals the reality behind the headlines. Boom and Bust is a dirt-under-the-nails look at the winners, the losers and the impact of the boom that wasn't meant to end. This is a book all Australians should read. . #icreate #icreatejournalism #writer #author #creativeindustries #novelist #novel #book #booklaunch #launch #enrol #uni #studywiththebest #unisa #boomandbust
