Congratulations to the VHS students honored at this morning’s World Languages Award Ceremony! 59 students were awarded with the NJ Seal of Biliteracy, the highest honor for a language student. Congrats to all!

Alek Raimonde, 7th grade student at Rossi Intermediate School, and Adrian Ferrer, 8th grade student at Veterans Memorial School, were honored by the Vineland Board of Education on Wednesday for their selection to the All South Jersey Junior High School Band this year. This is Raimonde’s first selection and Ferrer’s third. Both performed on the trumpet. Raimonde and Ferrer were selected from a pool of 322 students from 85 middle schools throughout South Jersey. They performed in a concert on March 4, held in Egg Harbor Township. The Vineland Board of Education honored members of the VHS Girls Swim Team at the Combined Meeting on Wednesday night for their impressive showing at the South Jersey Coaches Invitational in January. Swimmers who competed in the invitational included seniors Julia Albertson, Jenna Carastro, and Gracie McLaughlin; juniors Giavanna Lupi and Germaine Smart; and freshmen Alaina Merighi and Carli Hullihen. Other swimmers who didn’t qualify individually for the invitational competed in non-scored events. The VHS Girls finished third in the team scoring among all “A” Division (the division with the largest schools) teams and notched NJSIAA Individual State Qualifying times in all three relays.
Rylee Howerton, a sixth-grade student at Anthony Rossi Intermediate School, was honored by the Vineland Board of Education Wednesday night for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. Rossi Intermediate School nominated Rylee for national honors this fall in recognition of her volunteer service.
